This study analyses a pedagogical renewal process carried out in a secondary school located in a marginalised area of Castile and León that failed to take root. The research focuses on extracting valuable lessons from its development, analysing both the partial achievements and the obstacles encountered, all of which are inherent in the attempt to build an alternative educational model. The results reflect not only the particular experience of this school, but situations common to many disadvantaged educational contexts, familiar to any professional committed to teaching in complex environments. The findings demonstrate how pedagogical renewal projects in vulnerable contexts face structural challenges that, far from being failures, offer fundamental lessons for future educational interventions.
Educational policies in the integration of undocumented migrant children and youth in Tijuana, Baja California. 2019-2024: 2019-2024
Access to education for migrant children and youth in Tijuana represents a critical challenge within the framework of a criminalized context of human mobility. This article analyzes the barriers and opportunities in the implementation of public educational policies aimed at facilitating this population\u27s integration into the school system. Using a documentary research methodology, it examines regulatory frameworks, government programs, and previous studies to identify the critical nodes that facilitate or hinder educational access. The results reveal that the main challenge lies not in regulatory design, but in the fragmentation and insufficient resources during the execution of these policies in high-mobility contexts. It concludes that a systemic, transdisciplinary, and intersectoral approach is necessary—one that recognizes the particularities of migratory trajectories and promotes educational justice as a pillar of inclusion and well-being.
The aim of this paper is to elucidate the immanent relationship between the Hegelian theory of subjectivity or of concept and the Kantian doctrine of transcendental apperception, demonstrating the decisive role of the speculative critique of the transcendental subject in the consolidation of the Hegelian model. The main thesis argues that this model completes and transforms the transcendental principle, according to which objectivity is the product of the synthetic activity of pure apperception, by showing that the subject itself is only constituted as such as a result of this same objectifying activity. According to Hegel\u27s model, not only the object, but also the subject is a determination generated in the self-determining process of pure subjectivity. In this sense, the critique of subjective idealism, i.e. of the theory of the transcendental subject as the original unity of self and the generating matrix of the cognitive-volitional activity of self-consciousness, constituted the indispensable historical presupposition for the development and consolidation of the Hegelian model.
In ceramics there are different finishing methods that provide specific characteristics and properties to the pieces. In this work, we compare and present results on the water retention capacity of ceramic pieces finished by, both burnishing and smoothing techniques, taking into account different types of variables. During the process we will observe the different capacities of the ceramics and the unforeseen events in relation to temper.
Experimental archaeology and the tedious component in the experimental research process
However, its understanding is often influenced by a recreational approach, where replicative activities are perceived more as demonstrations of personal skills than as rigorous research. While this approach has undeniable pedagogical and outreach value, it risks diverting attention from the scientific and methodological objectives underlying experimentation.
This article addresses the inherent tensions between the recreational aspect of EA and the need to maintain rigorous research standards. Through critical reflection, it highlights the challenges associated with data collection, experimental design, and ethical considerations in EA projects
This article seeks to establish the European Dimension in Education (EDE) as a structural and meaningful concept within supranational educational policy in Europe. It also aims to position the EDE as a political-pedagogical category of analysis that shapes and gives coherence to the narratives, normative frameworks and institutional structures promoted through the policies of the Council of Europe (CoE) and the European Union (EU) since their inception. In contrast to technical, fragmented or instrumental interpretations of the concept, it is argued that the EDE provides interpretative value that enables a comprehensive understanding of European educational policy, grounded in a supranational, critical and pro-European logic.A comparative methodology is employed, based on a model of supranational political comparison between the CoE and the EU, structured in three analytical dimensions: historical-political, structural-normative, and axiological-teleological. This model enables an in-depth analysis of the dual corpus underpinning the EDE across the two supranational organisations. The study identifies differentiated yet convergent rationalities regarding the EDE, highlighting it as a key conceptual core that permeates both systems. The article concludes that, considering the European Education Area (EEA, 2025), the EDE stands out as a construct that lends global and critical coherence to European educational action.
Erasmus and support for european cooperation: perspectives of former participants
As it brings together students from diverse European backgrounds for a shared academic and socio-cultural experience, the ERASMUS programme is believed to provide an appropriate context for shaping participants’ attitudes towards the European Union and generating support for European integration. This exposure should ultimately increase students’ sense of belonging to a larger European identity. Within this framework, this article examines how participation in the ERASMUS programme affects former students’ perceptions of the European Union and their attitudes toward European cooperation and identity. Building on the civic rationale of student mobility and the assumption that transnational interactions could foster a collective European identity, the study investigates whether and how ERASMUS alums connect their experiences to broader support for the European project. Using thematic analysis and the concept of “everyday Europeanhood” (Frame & Cury?o, 2024), findings suggest that most participants recognise ERASMUS as an outcome of European cooperation and link their mobility to increased awareness of EU benefits and rights. However, support for European integration tends to be pragmatic, shaped by material benefits and socio-cultural exposure rather than institutional engagement or political mobilisation. The propensity towards transnational mobility remains the most significant gain. For the analysis, we employed a qualitative methodology based on 58 in-depth, semi-structured interviews with former ERASMUS participants from Romania, Spain, and Poland. As it brings together students from diverse European backgrounds for a shared academic and socio-cultural experience, the ERASMUS programme is believed to provide an appropriate context for shaping participants’ attitudes towards the European Union and generating support for European integration. This relies on the premise that international exposure should ultimately increase students’ sense of belonging to a larger European identity and overall support for European cooperation. Within this framework, the objective of this article is to examine how participation in the ERASMUS mobility scheme influences alumni’s perceptions of the European Union and their attitudes toward European cooperation and integration.
This article explores the context of the internationalization of higher education on the global stage, with a specific focus on the European context through an analysis of the European University Alliances (EUA), also known as the European Universities Initiative (EUI). The study highlights the role of mobility as a driving force in the development of internationalization policies and programs, fostering institutional connections and consolidating internationalization as a strategic priority within the current global education policy agenda. Through qualitative research and a literature review, the article introduces the concept of “curricular mobilities” as a key development of the current internationalization paradigm—especially within the context of the EUA—which extends beyond physical and virtual mobility by embedding it directly into academic curricula. The paper raises questions on how this approach can promote supranational, flexible learning aligned with contemporary demands for social inclusion, and economic and environmental sustainability, positioning the EUA/EUI as a potential paradigm for global higher education.
This article is part of a doctoral research involving recorded and transcribed memories. It proposes a critical reflection directed towards comparative education in two confessional institutions in the city of Corrente-Pi/Brazil: Instituto Batista Correntino (IBC) and Colégio São José, with a historical perspective - memories from the years 1920 - 2014. It stems from a vision of integral formation and sees innovation as the re-signification of existing practices, contextualized throughout the history of these institutions. It started with the question: how were the actions developed in the investigated institutions regarding education and the relationship between tradition and innovation constituted? It aims to analyze the formation of former students and teachers of these institutions in a comparative manner regarding the innovative characteristics of the time, developed through a traditional education. In this way, it seeks conceptions of innovation based on Pintassilgo (2018), Nóvoa (2023), Ghanem Júnior (2012, 2013), Veiga (2003). The root of the formation stems from the articulation among the various dimensions that make up generic humanity (man - ontologically speaking). Thus, it aims to identify the "common" and the "different" amidst the actions developed in the two institutions, the subjectivities, and the relevance of this formation made possible/developed in these schools, based on life stories. The contemporary perspective of the researcher makes this study unprecedented, in search of new aspects that influence the meanings of formation and innovation. It is defined as social research involving direct and indirect documentation (Lakatos; Marconi, 1992), Minayo (2002). It discusses habitus based on Bourdieu (1998), Bourdieu and Passeron (2012), which in this study is referred to as religious habitus. Its theoretical-methodological assumptions of life stories are grounded in New History (Burke, 1992; Le Goff, 1998, 1983). Regarding comparative education, it adopts theoretical considerations from Nóvoa (1998, 2010), Macedo; Devechi (2022), in order to seek new issues that allowed for the reconstruction of these life stories in the contexts of analyzed/comparative educational actions, mutual learning, and understanding of the \u27other\u27. It relies on the collaboration of former students/teachers from the investigated institutions, who are the protagonists of the formative and educational practices, through oral narratives (life stories). It sought to triangulate autobiographical narratives - oral life stories, documents, books, articles by authors in the field, enabling answers to the problem, objectives, and other questions that arose during the research. It is considered, based on the comparative analysis conducted, that the educational institutions (Instituto Batista Correntino (IBC) and Colégio São José), according to the testimonies, provided a sense of belonging, quality education for the entire region, human development, integral and for life, through traditions aimed at discipline (development of rules in promoting habits and attitudes), established by the Christian ethics common to the institutions – religious habitus. The subjects of the research mention what can be inferred as the reframing of the methodologies used, through an \u27innovated tradition,\u27 with characteristics beyond the mere transmission of content, in which they assert to be - a human formation and for life.
