The study examined the extent of utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in teaching by building construction educators in Public Universities in South East Nigeria. Two research questions guided the study and two hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. A descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. A total of 110 building construction educators, in six public universities in Southeast Nigeria which include both federal and state universities that are offering building construction courses, formed the population of the study. A structured questionnaire validated by three experts was used to carry out the study. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer research questions while Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was used to test the hypotheses. It was found out that greater that of the respondents upheld of adaptive learning and virtual reality were utilized at a low extent by building construction educators. It was concluded that the AI-Powered tools were not adequately utilized, by it was therefore recommended that effort should be made by building construction educators to understand AI\u27s role in education, but also embrace or employ it in carrying out their function
Extent of Readiness of Automobile Technology Educators to Utilize Artificial Intelligence in Colleges of Education in South East, Nigeria
The utilisation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into educational practices has significantly transformed various disciplines, including Automobile Technology Education (ATE). This study addresses the readiness of educators to utilise AI within ATE in Nigerian colleges of education. In order to conduct this study, one research question and two hypotheses were formulated using descriptive survey research design. A population of 68 automobile technology educators in public colleges of education in South East, Nigeria was studied. A researcher-designed questionnaire containing 10 items with a reliability coefficient of 0.79 was used for data collection. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research question while t-test was used to test the null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. Findings of the study revealed that automobile technology educators have low extent of readiness to utilise AI in colleges of education in South East, Nigeria. Automobile technology educators in colleges of education in South East, Nigeria do not differ significantly in their mean ratings on the extent of readiness to utilise AI based on ownership type and gender. Impact of Workshop Experiences on Building Finishing Skills of Building Technology Education Students in Public University in Anambra State
The study assessed the impact of workshop experiences on building finishing skills of building technology education students in public university, Awka, Anambra State. Two research questions guided the study while two hypotheses were tested at 0.05 alpha level. The population consisted of 54 building technology education students. Census sampling technique was used. Instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire. Out of the 54 questionnaires distributed, 45 copies were retrieved which represented 83.3 percent retrieval. The data were analyzed using simple linear regression. The results showed no significant impact of workshop experiences on tiling and painting skills, with p-values exceeding the 0.05 significance level. This indicated that workshop experiences, as currently offered to the students, do not contribute meaningfully to the skills development of students of building technology education. Based on these findings, it was recommended that workshops should be restructured to emphasize practical, hands-on training, with modern tools and equipment provided
ASSESSMENT OF APPRENTICESHIP PRACTICES IN UYO METROPOLIS, AKWA IBOM STATE, NIGERIA
This study meticulously evaluated apprenticeship practices among the principal ethnic group traders—Igbo, Hausa, and Yoruba—in Uyo Metropolis, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. The objectives were to delineate the socio-economic characteristics of apprentices and to identify the varieties of apprenticeship practices. A purposive and snowball sampling technique was employed to select 96 respondents, while descriptive statistics such as frequencies, percentages, and a Likert scale continuum were utilized for analysis. Findings indicated that apprenticeship is predominantly youth-driven, with 93.2% of respondents aged 21–30 years and 75.3% unmarried. Apprentices were primarily male (93.2%), modestly educated (over 90% with 0–9 years of schooling), and earned predominantly ₦20,000–₦29,000 monthly. The Igbo constituted the majority (52.1%), followed by Hausa (31.5%) and Yoruba (16.4%). Ethnic disparities were apparent: 84.2% of Igbo masters refrained from paying stipends but provided settlement upon completion of training, Yoruba (91.7%) paid stipends, while Hausa adopted a hybrid model. Settlement was most pronounced among Igbo (86.8%), underscoring structured empowerment. Recruitment was predominantly family-based among Igbo (68.4%), personal agreements among Yoruba (58.3%), and mixed among Hausa. The duration of apprenticeship also varied, with Igbo favoring 5–6 years, while Hausa and Yoruba leaned towards 2–3 years. The study concludes that apprenticeship remains pivotal for youth empowerment but necessitates formalization, financial incentives, certification, gender inclusion, and mentor capacity building to enhance sustainability
SYNTHESIS OF ALUMINIUM DOPED ZINC SELENIDE (ZnSe:Al )THIN FILMS USING CHEMICAL BATH DEPOSITION TECHNIQUE
Aluminium-doped zinc selenide (ZnSe:Al) thin films were synthesized using the chemical bath deposition technique. Their optical characteristics were examined with a Cary 300 UV–Visible spectrophotometer over the 200–800 nm wavelength range at normal incidence. Absorbance data obtained from the spectrophotometer were used to compute and plot the corresponding transmittance and reflectance spectra. Structural properties were analyzed using a Rigaku Miniflex 630 X-ray diffractometer, while elemental composition was investigated with a JEOL JSM-7600F system. The deposited films exhibited strong absorption in the UV region and relatively weak absorption within the visible range. Surface morphology revealed that increasing aluminum concentration influences grain size, whereas structural analysis indicated that higher Al doping levels progressively suppress the crystalline nature of the films. This indicates that the deposited films are suitability for UV-blocking or optoelectronic applications
