    SELF-RATING OF OFFICE TECHNOLOGY AND MANAGEMENT LECTURERS’ PROFICIENCY FOR EFFECTIVE TEACHING OF SPREAD SHEET APPLICATION IN NORTH-WEST NIGERIA POLYTECHNICS

    This study was undertaken with a view to discovering how proficient Office Technology and Management Lecturers are in teaching the MS Excel application in the North-west Nigerian Polytechnics. One research question and two null hypotheses guided the study.  The study utilized a descriptive survey research design. the population and the sample size were 127 OTM lecturers. The instrument for data collection was 5 5-point structured questionnaire with 15 items.  The reliability of the instrument was established using split half method and obtained a coefficient value of 0.84.  The researcher and three assistants administered the questionnaire, and the retrieved data were analyzed with mean and standard deviation.  T-test was used to test the null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance.  The finding revealed that OTM lecturers were very proficient in teaching spreadsheet applications.  The study also found no significant difference in the mean ratings of respondents’ proficiency for effective teaching of spreadsheet application as a result of gender and the institution\u27s ownership (State and Federal). The study concluded that OTM lecturers possess the requisite spreadsheet proficiency to effectively teach their students.  Based on the findings, it is recommended that OTM lecturers should engage in self-development in order to maintain their proficiency level in spreadsheet applications

    INTELLIGENT TUTORING SYSTEM AND LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS AS CORRELATES OF SUCCESFUL IMPLEMENTATION OF BUSINESS EDUCATION CURRICULUM IN UNIVERSITIES IN ANAMBRA STATE

    The study investigated intelligent tutoring systems and learning management systems as correlates of the successful implementation of business education curricula in universities in Anambra State. Two research questions guided the study, and two hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. A correlational research design was adopted for the study. The population comprised 124 300 level business education students from two public universities in the 2024/2025 academic session, with the entire population used due to its manageable size. Data were collected using two structured instruments: the Intelligent Tutoring System and Learning Management System Questionnaire (ITSLMSQ) and the Questionnaire on Successful Implementation of Business Education Curriculum (QSIBEC). Three experts validated both instruments; two from the Department of Business Education and one from the measurement and evaluation unit of the Department of Educational Foundations. The reliability of the instruments was confirmed using Cronbach’s Alpha, yielding coefficient values of 0.84 and 0.87, respectively. The analysis was conducted using Pearson Product-Moment Correlation, with decision rules based on correlation coefficients and p-values (≤0.05 indicating significance). Findings revealed a high positive relationship between ITS, LMS, and the successful implementation of the business education curriculum.     The application and use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Business Education has revolutionized traditional teaching methodologies and transformed learning experiences as well. Apart from the meaning of ICT and Business Education, this paper explored the evolution, current trends, and pedagogical benefits of ICT applications in teaching and learning of Business Education courses, tracing its development from early computer-assisted instruction to modern virtual classrooms, adaptive platforms, and immersive technologies such as virtual and augmented reality. The paper highlighted key benefits including enhanced student engagement, personalized and adaptive learning environments, improved collaboration, and real-time access to global data resources. It also identified significant challenges such as the digital divide, infrastructural constraints, inadequate educator training, resistance to change, and cybersecurity concerns. Based on these outcomes, actionable recommendations were proposed for educational institutions, IT departments, and policymakers. These recommendations focus on strengthening technical infrastructure, enhancing professional development, aligning ICT tools with curricular objectives, and adopting emerging technologies to create a dynamic and secure teaching and learning environment.     Assessment of Digital Tools and Platforms in Revamping Entrepreneurship Education for Skills Acquisition in Colleges of Education in Anambra State

    The study was undertaken to determine digital tools and platforms for revamping Entrepreneurship education for skills acquisition in colleges of education in Anambra state. A descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study was 105 digital literate teaching staff (respondents) in FCE (T) Umunze and Nwafor Orizu college of Education Nsugbe, all in Anambra state. The entire population constituted the sample for the study because of the manageable size. Three research questions were raised and two null hypotheses were formulated that guided the study and was tested at 0.05 level of significance. An instrument captioned: Digital Tools and Platforms for Revamping entrepreneurship education for skills acquisition questionnaire (DTPFREEFSA) was developed by the researchers and used for data collection. The questionnaire was validated by three specialists and a pilot test of the instrument was carried out. A reliability co-efficient of 0.85 was obtained using Cronbach Alpha reliability method which was considered appropriate for the study. Data collected were analyzed using mean and standard deviation, while t–test statistic was used to test the two null hypotheses. Findings revealed among others that lecturers were unaware of the use of digital tools and platforms for the impartation of entrepreneurial skills.     Factors Predicting Business Education Students’ 21st Century Information Communication Technology Skills Acquisition in Tertiary Institutions in Anambra State

    The study focused on factors predicting business education students’ 21st-century ICT skills acquisition in tertiary institutions in Anambra State. Two purposes in line with research questions guided the study, and two null hypotheses were tested. A correlation survey research design was adopted for the study. The population consists of 476 students from the various tertiary institutions in Anambra State. 134 was sampled using the proportionate sampling technique. The instrument for data collection was a 41-item structured questionnaire. The instrument was validated by three experts. Cronbach Alpha method was used to determine the reliability coefficient of internal consistency, with an overall coefficient value of 0.81. Simple regression analysis was used to answer the research questions, while regression was used to test the null hypotheses at a 0.05 alpha level. The findings of the study revealed, among others that personal, school factors strongly predict business education students’ 21st-century ICT skills acquisition in tertiary institutions in Anambra State. The study concluded that the factors strongly predict business education students’ 21st-century ICT skills acquisition in tertiary institutions in Anambra State. It was recommended among others that the School’s school-based factors regarding facilities, adequate space, teaching materials, and technological equipment should be improved to promote business education students’ teaching and learning of 21st-century ICT skills in tertiary institution

    Strategic Intuition and the Organizational Performance of Federal-Owned Tertiary Hospitals in Delta State

    This study explored the influence of healthcare professionals\u27 strategic intuition on the organizational performance of Federal-owned tertiary hospitals in Delta State. Employing a survey research design, the investigation aimed to gather accurate and reliable data on this critical topic. This method facilitated an impartial assessment of the subject matter, allowing for the application of statistical tools to generalize findings from the sample to the broader population. The choice of this methodology was based on its systematic and unbiased nature, which supports hypothesis validation and enables the collection of quantitative data for comprehensive analysis. The study focused on a target population of 1,810 staff members at the Federal Medical Centre in Asaba, Delta State. Using purposive sampling, a sample size of 328 participants was selected for inclusion. Regression data analysis was achieved through SPSS 27. Findings indicated that the strategic intuition of healthcare professionals significantly and positively affects the financial performance of Federal-owned tertiary hospitals in Delta State. Additionally, the study found that strategic intuition plays a crucial role in improving the quality of healthcare services delivered by these hospitals and it also enhances employee job satisfaction.     Electronic Record Management Practices and Office Managers’ Service Delivery in State Universities of Southwest, Nigeria

    Service delivery is an important pursuit for service providers who long to create and provide value to their customers. However, it is worthy of note that office managers in State Universities of Southwest, Nigeria have been battling with problems of poor service delivery. This study investigates Electronic Record Management Practices influencing Service Delivery of Office Managers in State Universities in the Southwest, Nigeria. The study adopted an inferential and cross-sectional survey design. The population of the study was 301 office managers in the State Universities of Southwest, Nigeria. Out of 301 copies of questionnaires administered, 299 were recovered, which represents a 99.3% response rate. Findings revealed that electronic record management practices have a positive and significant influence on service delivery of office managers in State Universities of Southwest, Nigeria (Adj. R2 = 0.106, F(2.160) = 10.629, p = 0.000).  The study recommended that the management of the institutions should consistently provide investment in ICT to enhance the service delivery of office manager

    Budget Planning Practice of Principals for Effective Financial Management of Secondary Schools in Anambra State

    The study examined the perceived budget planning of principals for effective financial management of secondary schools in Anambra State. The study was guided by one research question, and two hypotheses were tested. The research design used was a descriptive research design. The population of the study comprised 257 principals in all government-owned public secondary schools in Anambra State. Data collection was done using a 12-item researcher-developed instrument titled “Budgeting planning by Principals of Secondary School Questionnaire (BPPSSQ). The validation of the instrument was done by three experts from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.  The reliability of the study was assessed using Cronbach alpha, which yielded a coefficient of 0.75. The data was collected with the help of six research assistants from six educational zones in Anambra State using a direct approach. 94% of instruments were returned. The data analysis was done using mean and standard deviation to answer the research questions, and a t-test was used to test the hypotheses at a 0.05 level of significance. The findings of the study revealed, among others, that budget planning is fundamental to achieving the objectives of the school, as it allows the principals to set clear priorities, allocate resources effectively, and make informed decisions regarding expenditure.     Small and Medium Scale Enterprises Managers’ Rating of Financial Management Skills Needed for Business Success in Delta State, Nigeria

    The study determined the rating of financial management skills needed for business success among small and medium-scale enterprises managers in Delta State. One research question guided the study, and one null hypothesis was tested at 0.05 level of significance. Descriptive survey research design was adopted, and the population of 609 SMEs managers was studied without sampling. A structured questionnaire containing 10 items was face validated by three experts in the field and was used for data collection. Test-retest method was used to establish the reliability of the instrument, and the data analysed with Pearson Product-Moment Correlation, yielding coefficients of 0.66. Five hundred and ninety-six (596) duly completed copies of the instrument were retrieved and used for data analyses. Mean and standard deviation were used to analyze the research question, while the t-test was used to test the null hypothesis at 0.05 level of significance. Findings revealed that the respondents rated their financial management skills as high. Based on the findings of the study, the researcher concludes that all financial management skills listed were highly needed by SMEs managers for business success. It was therefore recommended that the Federal and State governments should make good policies on small and medium scale enterprises promotion by ensuring that SMEs managers practice the appropriate level of financial management skills needed for business success.
