Thermal insulation of a building
Vehicle-in-the-Loop Simulation for Autonomous Heavy Off-Road and Industrial Vehicles: A Framework and Case Study
Abstract
Vehicle development requires extensive testing, especially for autonomous vehicles where a large amount of training data is essential for machine learning. If more of this testing can be conducted in simulation, significant resources can be saved, while repeatable and rapidly exchangeable test scenarios are also enabled. Vehicle-in-the-Loop (ViL) simulations provide the opportunity for highly accurate vehicle models with significantly reduced modeling time, since the real vehicles are utilized in the simulations to a large extent. Calibration and validation of digital models are also facilitated, since digitally simulated subsystems can be isolated. This study presents a framework for ViL simulation for autonomous heavy offroad and industrial vehicles. The framework comprises a versatile laboratory with four wheel hub-mounted active dynamometers, capable of handling vehicles weighing up to 65 tonnes, with a power output of up to 1.2 MW. A case study is also presented, where the framework is tested using a 10-tonne autonomous offroad vehicle. The vehicle autonomously navigates a virtual environment generated from a scan of a real-world test site, across multiple ViL simulations. It is shown that the ViL framework is real-time capable. Furthermore, results from the ViL simulations are validated against the corresponding measurements from the physical test site.Abstract

Safety factors of hydrogen in urban and sparsely populated environments

Tutkimuksessa käytettiin fenomenologista tutkimusotetta Perttulan (1995) kuvailevaa fenomenologista analyysia mukaillen.
Tutkielman tuloksissa korostuivat opiskelijoiden positiiviset kokemukset tukipajoista ja pienryhmistä, joissa he saivat yksilöllistä tukea opintoihinsa.
Dynamic copula Bayesian network predictive model for assessing the impact of initiative programs on child undernutrition in Ethiopia, 2009-2016
Abstract
Background:
Child undernutrition remains a major public health concern in Ethiopia, influenced by multiple and interacting household and community factors. Despite large-scale initiatives such as the Productive Safety Net Program, Emergency Aid Program, and Health Extension Program, evidence is still needed on how these interventions affect the determinants of child nutritional status over time.
Methods:
We applied a Dynamic Copula Bayesian Network (DCBN) to model time-varying associations between program participation and key determinants of child undernutrition: food security (FS), household wealth (WQ), and mother subjective well-being (MSW). Data were drawn from the Young Lives–Ethiopia surveys (waves 2009, 2013, 2016) with baseline information from 2002 and 2006. The DCBN framework incorporated 26 copula families, Kendall’s τ for dependence measures, and Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) for parameter estimation. Model performance was evaluated using root mean square error (RMSE) and Nash–Sutcliffe efficiency (NSE). We further accounted for program spillovers through a community program intensity proxy and assessed robustness with baseline conditioning and inverse probability weighting (IPW).
Results:
Program participation was positively associated with household food security and wealth. Both FS → CUS and WQ → CUS edges showed negative and strengthening dependencies across waves, indicating that improvements in food security and wealth are associated with reductions in child undernutrition. These associations were robust to baseline conditioning, spillover adjustments, IPW weighting, and estimation method (MCMC vs. local optimization).
Conclusions:
The study demonstrates the utility of DCBNs for mapping dynamic, nonlinear associations between social protection and health programs and child undernutrition determinants. The results highlight that strengthening household food security and wealth plays a central role in reducing child undernutrition. Although findings are associational, the transferable dependence map can be re-estimated with contemporary data to guide program targeting, monitoring, and policy decisions in Ethiopia.Abstract

“A well written story should not cheat the emotions out of you”. Vihalukemista tuottavat diskurssit Reddit-yhteisöpalvelussa Hanya Yanagiharan romaanista Pieni elämä : retorinen diskurssianalyysi
Vihalukeminen on nykyaikainen ilmiö, jolla viitataan sellaisen kirjallisuuden lukemiseen, joka herättää lukijassa inhon, vastenmielisyyden tai vihan tunteita. Lukija saa näistä mielihyvää, sillä ilmiöön olennaisena osana kuuluu kyseisen lukukokemuksen ruotiminen muiden lukijoiden kesken, usein teosta ironisoiden tai pilkaten. Hypoteesini on, että teoskohtaiset diskurssit luovat vihalukemista. Aineisto on kerätty Reddit-yhteisöpalvelun alaredditistä r/Books, jossa käydään keskustelua Hanya Yanagiharan (s. 1974-) romaanista Pieni elämä (A Little Life, 2015).
The Finnish power system is a multi-part entity, made up from different actors. It consists of transmission and distribution networks that transport electricity produced from power plants to consumers. Fingrid’s task is to maintain the main grid and ensure the balance of the system.
The aim of this bachelor’s thesis was to become familiar with the Finnish power system and its operation. An overview of the forms of electricity production and electricity consumption in Finland is presented. In particular, the growth of data centers was explored in this work, as they play a major role in the increase in electricity demand.
Finland is guided by the obligations and political decisions imposed by the EU’s climate and energy legislation. The EU aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Finland’s corresponding target is to achieve carbon neutrality by 2035. Various frameworks have been created in the EU to support these objectives, such as “Fit-for-55”. In addition, development is monitored in the form of various reports.
At the end of 2025, Fingrid published a new power network vision with the aim of explaining possible development paths towards a sustainable energy system. In addition, potential grid reinforcement needs will be examined in the long term. The development of the new vision was influenced by changes in the operating environment. Thus, a new vision was created that better describes the current situation and considers the changing situation. The new vision has new themes and focuses more on data centers and hydrogen industry. This brings its own challenges in terms of improving the network, but on the other hand, it can increase the amount of renewable energy through investments and help achieve carbon neutrality goals
The challenges of meeting demand and supply in the hydrogen economy
The use of digital gamification, extended reality, artificial intelligence, and integrated digital learning tools in palliative care education of undergraduate nurses: A systematic review
Abstract
Background:
Nurses are at the forefront of providing palliative care, playing a critical role in ensuring high-quality support for patients and their families. Emerging digital and immersive technologies offer new opportunities to simulate complex palliative care scenarios, bridging the gap of limited clinical experiences and developing palliative care competence.
Objectives:
To explore and analyse what type of interventions have been implemented within palliative care education of undergraduate nursing students using digital and immersive technologies. Secondary aims were exploring the experiences and effect on palliative care competence.
Design:
A systematic review of mixed-methods interventional studies, based on Joanna Briggs Institute guidelines.
Methods:
A comprehensive literature search was conducted across Ovid Medline, CINAHL, Scopus, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and ERIC in March 2025. Eligible studies included empirical research on undergraduate nursing students using digital and immersive technologies to deliver palliative care education. Quality assessment followed JBI critical appraisal tools. Quantitative studies were analysed by Cohen d effect sizes and qualitative studies with content analysis.
Results:
Six studies met the inclusion criteria and were published in 2023 or 2024. Interventions varied between use of immersive simulation and screen-based simulation. Quantitative findings indicated statistically significant improvements in palliative care attitudes, abilities and readiness for practice with effect size ranging from 0.40 (p = .01) to 1.13 (p < .001). Qualitative content analysis identified two main themes: clinical experience and digital learning experience.
Conclusions:
Digital and immersive simulation holds significant promise in addressing gaps in undergraduate nursing palliative care competences. Research in this field is highly limited, with no use of artificial intelligence within simulations used in the reviewed research. Further high-quality, standardised, and longitudinal studies are essential to determine sustained impact and generalisability.Abstract

Regularization for time-dependent inverse problems: geometry of Lebesgue-Bochner spaces and algorithms
Abstract
We consider time-dependent inverse problems in a mathematical setting using Lebesgue-Bochner spaces. Such problems arise when one aims to recover a function from given observations where the function or the data depend on time. Lebesgue-Bochner spaces allow to easily incorporate the different nature of time and space.
In this manuscript, we present two different regularization methods in Lebesgue-Bochner spaces:
1. classical Tikhonov regularization in Banach spaces,
2. temporal variational regularization by penalizing the time-derivative.
In the first case, we additionally investigate geometrical properties of Lebesgue-Bochner spaces. This particularly includes the calculation of the duality mapping and it is shown that these spaces are smooth of power type. The resulting Tikhononv regularization in Lebesgue-Bochner spaces is implemented using different regularities for time and space. Both methods are tested and evaluated for dynamic computerized tomography.Abstract
