    Get PDF
Today's technological advances require humans to always go hand in hand with technology. One of them is buying and selling activities using an online system. This is considered easier and more efficient than offline transactions. One of the popular shopping applications in Indonesia today is Shopee. In practice, Shopee offers a feature called paylater. This research uses a qualitative descriptive research method to describe the practice of using Shopee Paylater loans from the perspective of Islamic law, while what is used is some research that has been done before. This research was conducted using a normative approach to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the issues under consideration. In this case, whether the practice of using Shopee Paylater loans is Halal or Haram. Actually, it has been fulfilled by Shopee paylater from the qardh contract both in terms of akid because of the mutual agreement between the two parties, the main object being traded can be trusted, and also shigat in the paylater system there is already a form of transaction confirmation between the two parties which is in accordance with the qardh contract. However, from another aspect, there are instruments that contain usury, namely in the practice of Shopee paylater there are additions. According to the language of usury, it means that in usury activities there is an addition to something that is owed. Meanwhile, according to Imam Sarakhsi from the Hanafi Madzhaf defines usury as an addition required in business transactions without any iwadh (equivalent) justified by sharia for the addition. The paylater mechanism is very easy and very practical. In the paylater itself there is a choice of time periods for payment in installments. Shopee paylater is classified as a debt and credit activity or in Islamic terms it is called qardh. Qardh is allowed in Islam if it does not contain elements of usury in it. But unfortunately, in practice, Shopee paylater has elements of usury, namely additional interest rates every month and fines given if there is a delay. &nbsp

    Get PDF
This study investigated enhancing pedagogical strategies through technology integration in basic teacher education programs. It sheds light on its significant influence on both educational management and instructional approaches. The investigation centred on experiences within Ghana's College of Education (CoE), contributing insights that align with the objectives of Sustainable Development Goal 4. A mixed-method approach was employed, integrating both quantitative and qualitative methods. The participants of the study consisted of 485 participants (469 tutors and 16 principals) selected from sixteen colleges by using cluster and simple random sampling techniques. Quantitative data were gathered by employing a structured questionnaire, while qualitative data were acquired through semi-structured interviews. The quantitative data underwent analysis using both descriptive and inferential statistics, while the qualitative data were subjected to an inductive analysis approach. The results revealed the noteworthy influence of age, gender, higher qualifications, and professional experience of principals and instructors on technology integration in education. Furthermore, key indicators such as smartphone usage and Microsoft Office 365 tools were found to be insufficient for facilitating technology integration. This inadequacy was attributed to managerial challenges like infrastructural limitations and resistance to change. It was recommended that the Ministry of Education should institute regular in-service training initiatives on technology integration. This step will empower the staff at CoE with the requisite knowledge and competencies to proficiently infuse technology in their roles

    Get PDF
The primary focus of this study was to explore the experiences of academics in relation to the challenges they face regarding office space. This paper was underpinned by the qualitative exploratory research design within the interpretivist philosophy. This paper explores the varied expressions of participants (three lecturers, two senior lecturers, three associate professors, four full professors, and three managers) through semi-structured interviews on how they characterize spatial challenges in their selected universities.  In its examination, I undergirded the thesis of this paper on the social justice theory and on the concept of space as espoused by Lefebre (2004). In addition, extant literature on the epistemology of academic space and academic performance was intensively evaluated. The result of this study provides a glimpse of the socially just challenges academics face regarding office space.  This study is of significance because there is scarcity of research on the comparison of office space provision in relation to selected universities in the Sub-Saharan region. In addressing this scholarly gap, the paper provides insights in the epistemology of space, social justice, and academic performance and how space can disrupt the academic agenda

    Get PDF
The rise in tuition fees has become a prominent issue in Indonesian education, especially as of 2024. It is still a concern whether the increase in UKT has a relationship with student achievement. This study aimed to determine the differences in student academic achievement based on the single tuition fee (UKT) category and the impact of UKT on student academic achievement. The sample in the study comprised 3643 samples of data on single tuition fees and student cumulative grade point averages from 2021 to 2023. Employing one sample test, ANOVA test, and linear regression analysis, the results showed that students across all UKT categories, from UKT 1 to UKT 6, surpassed the quality target standard GPA of 3.60 at UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta. Second, the average GPA varied significantly across each category, indicating differing academic achievements among the UKT categories. Third, the UKT categories ranked from the highest to lowest score value are UKT Category 6, UKT Category 2, UKT Category 3, UKT Category 1, UKT Category 4, and UKT Category 5. Fourth, the study reveals that UKT does not impact the academic performance of students at UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta, suggesting that other external factors not included in the study variables influence student academic achievement. Thus, increasing or decreasing UKT does not affect students’ academic achievement; instead, other external factors play a significant role in this

Beyond the classroom walls: Unveiling teachers’ and students’ experiences in Biology education

    Get PDF
Despite the growing emphasis on formal classroom settings, the learning experiences of students outside the classroom, particularly in biology education, remain underexplored. This research seeks to bridge this gap by unveiling the perspectives of both students and teachers regarding their biology learning experiences. Conducted with senior high school participants in Indonesia, this qualitative study employs purposive sampling to gather data through semi-structured interviews with three biology teachers and seven students. Thematic analysis of the collected data reveals the multifaceted nature of biology instruction, highlighting challenges, achievements, and the potential for pedagogical improvement. The findings suggest that while there are several strengths in current teaching methods, significant opportunities exist to enhance the learning experience by incorporating additional activities beyond the classroom. In particular, the study underscores the need for fostering more immersive and holistic educational environments that can cater to diverse learning styles. This research contributes valuable insights for educators and policymakers, advocating for innovative strategies that extend beyond traditional educational boundaries and stimulate a more dynamic, engaging biology curriculum. The study’s implications call for a reevaluation of current educational practices, aiming to create more inclusive and enriching learning experiences for senior high school students
