This study analyzes the influence of tourism income, MSME growth, Human Development Index (HDI), and zakat on the poverty rate in the Special Region of Yogyakarta Province. Utilizing panel data from 5 regencies/cities during the period of 2018-2022, the study employs the panel data regression analysis method. The findings of the study indicate that tourism income and MSME growth have a negative but insignificant impact on poverty. This suggests that the benefits of these two sectors have not been evenly distributed to significantly reduce poverty. The HDI is found to have a negative and significant impact on poverty, emphasizing the importance of investing in human resource development as a long-term poverty alleviation strategy. Unexpectedly, zakat demonstrates a positive and significant impact on poverty, which could be attributed to inefficiencies in zakat management and distribution or other uncontrolled factors within the study. These findings highlight the need for a multi-dimensional approach to poverty alleviation, focusing not only on economic growth but also on enhancing human resource quality and improving income redistribution systems. Customary-Based Waqf Practices: Exploring Socio-Economic Empowerment and Development Models in The Tana Luwu Indigenous Community

    Get PDF
This article deals with the development of customary waqf in the socio-economic empowerment of indigenous peoples. This study aims to analyze the potential of customary waqf in the Tana Luwu community, evaluate its role in socio-economic empowerment, and formulate a model for the development of customary waqf that can be implemented sustainably. This study uses a qualitative approach with an exploratory-descriptive study design using case study and Participatory Action Research (PAR) methods that focus on indigenous communities as the main subjects to explore customary waqf practices in Tana Luwu. The results show that customary practices such as customary land management, traditional granaries, mutual assistance, and tongkonan are indeed in line with the values of waqf redistribution. However, without institutional reform and adequate legal protection, these practices are prone to fragmentation. Therefore, the development of waqf in indigenous communities can be carried out by making Indigenous Institutions the collective nazhir to manage customary land, traditional granaries, and traditional facilities. In addition, a participatory approach must be accompanied by waqf education and literacy tailored to the local context

TULUNGAGUNG-TALANGAGUNG: SOSIAL EKONOMI MASYARAKAT TULUNGAGUNG DALAM MENGHADAPI BANJIR 1955-1986

    Get PDF
This paper examines the history of flooding in Tulungagung and its mitigation efforts from the colonial period to post-independence. Tulungagung is known as a flood-prone area due to an imbalance between river capacity and abundant water volume. The Dutch colonial government undertook the first mitigation effort through the Vlugter project, which only managed to overcome flooding for a short time. Subsequently, during the Japanese occupation, the Neyama Tunnel project was built using Rōmusha labor, although this resulted in loss of life. After independence, flooding returned with greater intensity, prompting the Indonesian government to implement a third phase of flood mitigation projects, including constructing the South Tulungagung Tunnel and a dam in the Brantas River Basin. In addition to natural factors, forest encroachment by local communities also exacerbated flooding from mountainous areas. These projects transformed flood-prone areas into fertile agricultural land and improved irrigation systems. Ultimately, this ecological and infrastructural transformation positively impacted regional economic growth, making Tulungagung a significant economic center. Keywords: economy, flood, mitigation, Tulungagung.

ISLAMIC BANK FINANCING ACCESS AND FINANCIAL LITERACY ON MSME GROWTH: DIGITAL LITERACY AS MODERATOR

    Get PDF
This study aims to analyze the influence of access to Islamic bank financing and Islamic financial literacy on the growth of MSMEs in Semarang City, as well as examine the role of digital literacy as a moderation variable. The background of this research is based on the low level of utilization of sharia financing and financial literacy by MSMEs actors, as well as the importance of digital literacy in supporting business success in the digital era. This study uses a quantitative approach with primary data collected through an online questionnaire and analyzed using the Partial Least Square (PLS) method through the SmartPLS application. The research sample consisted of 102 MSMEs actors selected based on the Slovin formula. The results of the study show that access to Islamic bank financing and Islamic financial literacy have a positive and significant influence on the growth of MSMEs. However, digital literacy does not have a direct effect on the growth of MSMEs and is also unable to moderate the relationship between access to financing and financial literacy to the growth of MSMEs significantly. This shows that digital literacy has not played an optimal role as a reinforcing variable in this context. This research provides important implications for Islamic financial institutions, local governments, and MSMEs actors in designing financial and digital capacity building strategies to encourage more sustainable and competitive business growth.
