    Get PDF
The present study aimed to assess the interrelationship among eight key agronomic traits in 247 diverse soybean genotypes to identify yield-contributing factors for effective selection. Field evaluation data were analysed using correlation and Principal Component Analysis (PCA). Correlation results showed that seed yield per plant had strong positive correlations with number of pods per plant (0.719**), seeds per pod (0.643**), and seed yield efficiency (0.787**). Conversely, it showed significant negative correlations with plant height (-0.761**), primary branches (-0.682**), and number of nodes (-0.611**). Days to maturity was negatively correlated with seed yield (-0.619*) and plant height (-0.428*), but positively associated with primary branches (0.67*). PCA revealed that PC1 and PC2 accounted for 58.95% and 13.32% of total variance, respectively. PC1 showed positive loadings for seed yield (0.393) and yield efficiency (0.3409), and negative for pods per plant (-0.4257). Findings suggest compact, early-maturing genotypes with higher pod and seed counts are ideal for yield improvement

    Get PDF
aghṭ al Dam Qawī (Hypertension), a disorder that results in persistently elevated blood pressure,is a significant risk factor for cardiovascular diseases and accounts for around 13% of global fatalities. About1.28 billion adults between the ages of 30 and 79 are afflicted worldwide, however only 54% of adults areaware of the illness. It is more common in low- and middle-income nations; in India, 25.3% of adults areafflicted. To properly manage hypertension, lifestyle modifications like a healthier diet and more exercise, aswell as routine blood pressure checks, are essential. Fasd (Venesection) is suggested as an alternate course oftherapy and in some cases as a first line of therapy, by the Unani medical system, with the ideology of theconcept of Ḍaghṭ al Dam Qawī (Unani Medical term for hypertension) under the broad term- Imtila (Plethora). This method addresses the challenges that patients encounter while using traditional medicationsand provides a cost-effective substitute for treating Ḍaghṭ al Dam Qawī. According to the Unani System ofMedicine, hypertension, or Ḍaghṭ al Dam Qawī, is a condition linked to an individual's humoral andtemperamental imbalances. Unani medicine uses herbal medicines, dietary changes, lifestyle adjustments, andtherapeutic procedures like Fasd (venesection) to treat Ḍaghṭ al Dam Qawī. In order to properly manage thiscondition, Unani practitioners place a strong emphasis on comprehensive therapeutic approaches thatintegrate physical, psychological, and spiritual well-being.Comprehending the intricate pathophysiology of Ḍaghṭ al Dam Qawī is crucial for formulating all-encompassing management plans. The purpose of this case study is to evaluate the impact of traditional Unaniregimen therapy, Fasd (Venesection), on lowering the systolic and diastolic blood pressure of three patientswho were diagnosed patients of hypertension

PHARMACOTHERAPEUTIC POTENTIAL OF AVICENNIA OFFICINALIS LEAF EXTRACT IN MANAGING ALCOHOL-INDUCED HEPATOTOXICITY

    Get PDF
This study evaluates the hepatoprotective and antioxidant potential of ethanolic leaf extract of Avicenniaofficinalis in a rat model of alcohol-induced liver toxicity. Chronic ethanol administration resulted in elevated serum hepatic enzymes (SGOT, SGPT, ALP, GGT), total bilirubin, and lipid peroxidation, along with decreased levels of total protein and both enzymatic (SOD, CAT, GPx, GST) and non-enzymatic (GSH, vitamins C and E) antioxidants. Oral administration of A. officinalis extract (100 mg/kg body weight) significantly restored liver function biomarkers and antioxidant levels, comparable to the standard hepatoprotective drug silymarin. Phytochemical analysis confirmed the presence of flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, terpenoids, and other bioactive compounds, which may contribute to its therapeutic efficacy. These findings support the potential of A. officinalis as a natural, pharmacologically active agent for the prevention and treatment of alcohol-induced hepatic damage

FUNGAL COINFECTIONS IN COVID-19 PATIENTS: A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW OF MUCORMYCOSIS, ASPERGILLOSIS, AND CANDIDA AURIS

    Get PDF
The emergence of fungal coinfections in patients with COVID-19 has introduced a new dimension of clinical complexity, particularly in individuals with underlying immunosuppression or comorbidities such as diabetes mellitus. Opportunistic fungal pathogens, including Mucorales (mucormycosis), Aspergillus spp. (COVID-19-associated pulmonary aspergillosis, CAPA), and Candida auris, have shown an alarming rise during the pandemic, often mimicking or compounding COVID-19 respiratory symptoms. These infections are associated with high morbidity and mortality, especially when diagnosis and intervention are delayed. This review highlights the pharmacological aspects of managing fungal infections in COVID-19 patients, emphasizing the challenges in antifungal therapy, drug resistance, and immunomodulatory treatment strategies. Corticosteroid therapy, a cornerstone in severe COVID-19 treatment, has paradoxically increased susceptibility to fungal invasion by impairing host immune responses and elevating blood glucose levels. Mucormycosis, in particular, has seen a dramatic surge in India during the second wave of COVID-19, necessitating aggressive surgical and pharmacological intervention with liposomal amphotericin B, posaconazole, or isavuconazole. Preventive pharmacological measures, such as glycemic control, judicious steroid use, and sterilization of oxygen humidifiers, are crucial to reduce the incidence of these secondary infections. Enhanced diagnostic protocols, antifungal stewardship, and ongoing clinical trials on novel therapeutics are essential for improving patient outcomes. This comprehensive review serves to inform clinicians, pharmacists, and researchers of the evolving fungal landscape in the COVID-19 era and offers pharmacological insights into evidence-based management strategies for these life-threatening coinfections
