The initial training of educators for Early Childhood Education and Care in Italy: normative and curricular aspects

    No full text
The quality of educational services for children depends structurally on the professional competence of the educators who work in them: such skills may develop within the services; however, they are mostly linked with the training itineraries that lead to practising the profession. Recent norms made mandatory an initial university training program within the undergraduate class L-19 for educators for children aged from zero to three. This norm found out that universities are at least partially equipped for the ensuing training challenge; however, a wide range of different offers marks the context. The paper, starting from a short reconnaissance of the existing norms, finds the essential characteristics that should appear in a possible academic curriculum for early childhood educators, it is based on hypotheses put forward in recent months. Such hypothesis is then compared with the present reality of the undergraduate courses in Italy within the class L-19, finding the coherence and the reasons for problems in the relationship between the state of things and the new request for training for the courses of this sector

    No full text

Safety and patient satisfaction of abobotulinumtoxinA for aesthetic use. A systematic review

    No full text
A systematic review of the published literature (from January 2000 to January 2016) to ascertain the safety of, and patient satisfaction with, the aesthetic use of abobotulinumtoxinA was conducted. In addition to the licensed indications, other special populations were considered for discussion. The potential impact of neutralizing antibodies and systemic toxicity were also addressed. A total of 364 papers were screened and 86 were found to be relevant to the population, intervention(s), and outcomes stipulated in the protocol. The safety and patient satisfaction data from these publications are discussed in this review

    No full text

Nanocomposite Plates and Shells Reinforced by Agglomerated Carbon Nanotubes: Static and Dynamic Analysis

    No full text
The development of nanofibers, such as Carbon Nanotubes (CNTs), captured the interest of many researchers, who aimed to take advantage of these constituents by using them as reinforcing phase in the so-called nanocomposite structures. Since their discovery, a huge number of papers related to this topic appeared in the open literature. All these works highlighted the excellent mechanical and thermal properties of CNTs by presenting different possible applications. The most typical example is related to the class of functionally graded carbon nanotube-reinforced laminated composite Nevertheless, different approaches were published to evaluate their properties. In this paper, a micromechanics model based on the agglomeration of such nanofibers is employed to compute the overall mechanical behavior of laminated composite plates and shells reinforced by CNTs. The static and dynamic analysis of these nanostructures are accomplished numerically, by means of the well-known Generalized Differential Quadrature (GDQ) method. The main aim of this paper is to investigate the effect of the agglomeration of CNTs on the linear static response and on the natural frequencies of this structures

Inventory management in the presence of inventory inaccuracies: An economic analysis by discrete-event simulation

    No full text
Today, inventory management is almost entirely based on information systems. However, inventory records can always be prone to errors, leading to underestimated or overestimated inventory. In this study, the effect generated by inventory record inaccuracies on the economic performance of a warehouse of fast moving consumer goods is analysed. A simulation model is developed under Microsoft ExcelTM to reproduce the inbound and outbound flows of product at the warehouse, together with the generation of errors in these flows. Different types of errors, correction mechanisms and reorder policies are taken into account in the analysis. As output, the simulation model returns the total cost of the inventory management as a function of the error level, the reorder policy and the correction mechanism adopted. The results of the study provide useful guidelines for warehouse managers. More specifically, outcomes can support strategic decisions, such as the choice among different correction mechanisms, the opportunity to adopt them (or not) or the opportunity to modify (or not) the operating leverages of the reorder policy to adapt them to the presence of errors in inventory records
