Developmental dyscalculia is a learning disorder affecting 1.3%- 10% of the population (Devine et al., 2013). It might have a significant impact on a school’s functioning. Children with dyscalculia could present difficulties in number sense, numbers, and calculation systems. Moreover, literature reports a high involvement of verbal working memory in arithmetic tasks (Geary et al., 2000; Passolunghi & Siegel, 2001; Passolunghi & Pazzaglia, 2004; Dehn, 2008). The scientific community is inviting clinicians, therapists and researchers to promote practices and research to clarify the effectiveness of interventions. This project aims to describe an integrated intervention programme based on verbal working memory and arithmetic skills. The two participants were attending their fourth year and presented arithmetic difficulties and poor working memory skills. We illustrated an intervention, with particular attention paid to methodology, practical suggestions, and the changes between the pre-and post-intervention. The BDE-2 results showed an improvement in number sense and number system tasks, while calculation process and fact retrieval remained critical aspects. We observed a slight development in the MDL system: child A showed an increased capacity in verbal working memory, while child B showed an increase only in the span score of digits in the forward condition. A follow-up after six months on one of the two children showed maintenance of the benefits
Media and gender. History, representation, reception
This book presents the papers discussed at the International Conference Media and Gender: History, Representation, Reception held in San Marino on May 10 and 11, 2022. Two days during which researchers and scholars from European, American, and Asian universities and from different areas of expertise discussed some central aspects of the complex and ever-changing relationship that exists between media and gender, from an interdisciplinary and transnational perspective. In particular, the published essays investigate how changes in gender roles influence and shape the production of media content; the role played by media in the construction of dominant social narratives and in the definition of sociological theories of gender; and the impact that interrelations between media and gender have in shaping new forms of subjectivity, agency, and identities

Media and Gender: Frameworks and directions
Understanding the ever-changing relationship between gender and media therefore requires an interdisciplinary approach that encompass intersectional and transnational perspectives. How do changes in gender roles affect and shape the production of media content? Which role do media play within broader social histories and sociological theories of gender? How do the interrelations between media and gender shape new forms of subjectivity, agency, and identities? While this volume is an attempt to answer some of these questions, my contribution aims at providing some guidance among the current frameworks of scholarly investigations on media and gender and offering suggestions for new directions in the field
Understanding the obstacles for technological spillover: the case of European Aerospace Missions
Due to the complexity and relevance of the scientific problems they address, astrophysical exploration missions can be a fertile ground for technological spillover. In the past, various space technologies, particularly in telecommunications, transportation, health care, and even military defense, spilled over or have been transferred from Space Agencies to industrial sectors. The boundaries between these two kind of actions are not always defined, for this reason we use the two concepts interchangeably. This article presents the results of a study on spillovers generated by six of the most important astrophysical missions launched by the European Space Agency in the first two decades of this century. These are notably: Integral, Planck Surveyor, XMM-Newton, Agile, Solar Orbiter, and Plato. In addition to some positive social effects, the results of the survey highlight the relevance of some technological innovations realized by small enterprises and then “transferred” to the industrial sector. The results also indicate the financial and organizational obstacles that could limit the possibility of transfer and thus the wider dissemination of innovations obtained in the development path of the Missions
Design and Responsive Technologies for Human Well-being.
The field of research involving design and well-being, finds in the development of responsive technologies and Artificial Intelligence the latest tools for mutual influence and transformation. Research on this topic, shared at the Disrupting Geographies in the Design World forum, testified to the multiple and contemporary fields of investigation related both to technological development and the human sphere. The paper proposes a clustering of research on this topic into two sets: the first group gathers research and design approaches that increase human knowledge toward digital data, the second brings together insights on behavioral changes generated by design using emerging technologies. The results of the debate and the categorizations open new focus points aimed at improving, through the discipline of design, individual and collective well-being
A Neuropsychological Profile of Developmental Dyscalculia: The Role of Comorbidity
Developmental dyscalculia (DD) has long been thought to be determined by multiple components. Dyscalculia has high comorbidity with other learning and developmental disabilities, including reading and writing disorders, attention deficits, and problems in visual/spatial skills, short memory, and working memory. This study aims to assess prevalence rates for isolated as well as comorbid DD in a sample of Italian-speaking children. In addition, we studied the neuropsychological profile of children with isolated or combined dyscalculia. We tested 380 children (176 males and 204 females) between the ages of 8.17 and 9.33 years using an extensive battery to determine the neuropsychological profile. The assessment included an arithmetic battery and nonverbal intelligence, short-term memory, reading, and writing tests. The results indicated that children with DD more frequently have a reading disorder and writing disorder. They also have a lower nonverbal intelligence quotient (IQ) and obtain significantly lower scores in short-term memory tests and on a visuospatial skills questionnaire. They also had significantly higher scores (indicative of greater attentional difficulties) on the Conners subscale for attentional problems. Children with DD present different cognitive and neuropsychological profiles
