    A Study on Big Data Techniques and Applications

    We are living in on-Demand Digital Universe with data spread by users and organizations at a very high rate. This data is categorized as Big Data because of its Variety, Velocity, Veracity and Volume. This data is again classified into unstructured, semi-structured and structured. Large datasets require special processing systems; it is a unique challenge for academicians and researchers. Map Reduce jobs use efficient data processing techniques which are applied in every phases of Map Reduce such as Mapping, Combining, Shuffling, Indexing, Grouping and Reducing. Big Data has essential characteristics as follows Variety, Volume and Velocity, Viscosity, Virality. Big Data is one of the current and future research frontiers. In many areas Big Data is changed such as public administration, scientific research, business, The Financial Services Industry, Automotive Industry, Supply Chain, Logistics, and Industrial Engineering, Retail, Entertainment, etc. Other Big Data applications are exist in atmospheric science, astronomy, medicine, biologic, biogeochemistry, genomics and interdisciplinary and complex researches.  This paper is presents the Essential Characteristics of Big Data Applications and State of-the-art tools and techniques to handle data-intensive applications and also building index for web pages available online and see how Map and Reduce functions can be executed by considering input as a set of documents.

    Medical Documentation Practice of Health Professionals and Attitude towards it at University of Gondar Hospital, Gondar, North West Ethiopia

    Medical documentation is believed as pertinent facts of medicalcare plan. It is a warehouse for patient’s information and interaction with theircaregivers in particular. However, there are lack of completeness, consistency,proper recoding and other constraints regarding the current medical recordpractice. The main objective of this study was to assess the current medicaldocumentation practice of health professionals and attitude towards it atUniversity of Gondar Hospital, Gondar, North West Ethiopia, 2016.Institution based cross sectional quantitative study was conductedfrom March 15 to April 30, 2016 at University of Gondar Hospital. About 260health professionals who work in different wards were participated. Data werecollected using structured self-administered questionnaires of professionals andreviewed their recorded medical documentation (chart). Logistic regressions;both bi-variable and multi-variable logistic regressions analyses models werefitted. The odds ratio with 95 % CI was computed and these variables which havea (p-value < 0.05) in the multi-variable logistic regression analysis model weretaken as statistically significant and interpreted accordingly. Good medical documentation practice by health professionals was 45.4% (n=118). Documentation for all patients using documentation standard toolswith AOR=1.799(95%CI [1.065, 3.040]), working area with AOR=2.522(95%CI[1.264, 5.033]), and favourable attitude towards medical documentation withadjusted OR=1.182(95% CI [1.039, 3.169]) were significantly associated withgood medical documentation practice.Medical documentation practice at University of Gondar Hospital was found low.Documentation using standard tools, working area (setting) and attitude ofprofessionals were important factors associated with medical documentationpractice. Organizational support needs to be strengthening, ensure procedure,format and documentation type (including documentation tools and forms); etcneeds emphasis to improve documentation practice

    Identification of the Inrush Current of the Internal Faults of Power Transformers Based on the Differential Relay Function

    The inrush current of transformer is one of the most important factors in the damaging of power transformers and reducing their useful life. Differential relays are one of the main and primary protections of power transformers. Therefore, the correct and fast operation of these devices is so important. In this paper, an inrush flow detection method is proposed in order to prevent the inaccurate performance of differential relay. In the proposed method, the analysis of the wavelet transform frequency time is used based on the extracted characteristics. Also, a criterion called correlation coefficient is used in order to create a suitable pattern and use it in the proposed algorithm. The simulation of the proposed algorithm is performed by the PSCAD software and implemented in the MATLAB environment. The results of the simulation confirm the accuracy of the proposed method

    A Physiologic Model for the Problem of Blood Flow through Diseased Blood Vessels

    This study focuses on the behavior of blood flow through diseased artery in the presence of porous effects. The laminar, incompressible, fully developed, non-Newtonian in an artery having axially non-symmetric but radially symmetric stenosis is numerically studied. Here blood is represented as Herschel-Bulkley fluid model and flow model is shown by the Navier-Stokes and the continuity equations. Using appropriate boundary conditions, numerical expression for volumetric flow rate, pressure drop and wall shear stress have been derived. The expressions are computed numerically and results are presented graphically. The effects of porous parameter on wall shear stress, stenosis length, stenosis size and stenosis shape parameter are discussed. The wall shear stress increases as the porous parameter, stenosis size and stenosis length increases, but as the stenosis shape parameter increases, the wall shear stress decreases. The work shows that the results obtained from the porous wall model are significantly different from those obtained by the rigid wall model

    A Simple Three-term Conjugate Gradient Algorithm for Solving Symmetric Systems of Nonlinear Equations

    This paper presents a simple three-terms Conjugate Gradient algorithm for solving Large-Scale systems of nonlinear equations without computing Jacobian and gradient via the special structure of the underlying function. This three term CG of the proposed method has an advantage of solving relatively large-scale problems, with lower storage requirement compared to some existing methods. By incoporating the Powel restart approach in to the algorithm, we prove the global convergence of the proposed method with a derivative free line search under suitable assumtions. The numerical results are presented which show that the proposed method is promising

    In this paper, a numerical method is proposed for solving weakly singular Fredholm integral equations in Hilbert reproducing kernel space (RKHS). The Taylor series is used to remove singularity and reproducing kernel function are used as a basis. The effectiveness and stability of the numerical scheme is illustrated through two numerical examples

    Performance Analysis of (Bi2Te3-PbTe) Hybrid Thermoelectric Generator

    The performance of (Bi2Te3-PbTe) hybrid thermoelectric generator (TEG) composed of n-type Bismuth Telluride and p-type Lead Telluride semiconductor materials is presented in this paper.  The effect of different performance parameters such as output voltage, output current, output power, maximum power output, open circuit voltage, Seebeck co-efficient, electrical resistance, thermal conductance, figure of merit, efficiency, heat absorbed and heat removed based on maximum conversion and power efficiency have been theoretically analyzed by varying the hot side temperature of the hybrid thermoelectric generator up to 350oC and by varying the cold side temperature from 30oC to 150oC. The results showed that a maximum power output of 21.7 W has been obtained with the use of one hybrid thermoelectric module for a temperature difference of 320oC between the hot and cold side of the thermoelectric generator at matched load resistance. The figure of merit was found to be around 1.28 which makes its usage possible in the intermediate temperature (250oC to 350oC) applications such as heating of Biomass waste, heat from Biomass cook stoves or waste heat recovery etc. It is also observed that the hybrid thermoelectric generator offers superior performance over 250oC of the hot side temperature, compared to standard Bi2Te3 modules

    Study on End-wall Slope Stability of Surface Coal Mine under the Condition of Combined Open-pit Mining with Underground Mining

    With the deepening of surface coal mine, the application of combined surface mining with underground mining is increased now. According to the influence analysis of underground mining on surface coal mine end-wall slope, the thin plate model of mined slope was proposed with distortion and stress distribution of the girder studied. Considering the practice of combined surface mining with underground mining, the modified method was put forward. Based on the roof breaking law of mined slope, the minimum width of protecting coal pillar was elicited. Subsequently this paper took the combined mining practice of Anjialing surface mine as example to study the subsidence law of roof and the influence of underground mining to surface mine slope. The research conclusion indicates that under the condition of combined mining the deformation and subsidence of overlying strata are obvious with a clear lag time, and the ceiling distortion evokes distortion of mined slope, which can be used as the theory sustainment to stabilization of mined slope under combined surface mining with underground mining

    An Optimal Replenishment Policy for the EPQ Model with Permissible Delay in Payments

    Most of the past researches on economic replenishment quantity did not consider the trade credit period. In practice, however, companies in Taiwan have shown that taking the trade credit period into account when they are making inventory decisions decreases costs substantially. The aim of this paper is to develop an inventory model that incorporates a delay in payments to minimize the total inventory-relevant cost. The optimal replenishment policy of the proposed model is identified by utilizing the global optimum conditions and non-constrained quadratic nonlinear programming. The results show that the existence of global optimal inventory cycle under the condition of total cost function is convex. Accordingly, the proposed model can assist managers in effectively addressing EPQ issue under competitive market
