    Yard phytoarchitecture for onsite sanitation of household wastewater containing copper

    Copper can be found in various equipment, building materials, and consumer products. When buildings are used, copper can enter wastewater in different ways. It is challenging for occupants to remove copper physically or chemically since they can potentially reduce copper levels through yard phytoarchitecture. This study aims to formulate houseplants' suitability to become decorative plants for the yard phytoarchitecture, simultaneously as onsite sanitation. This study identified the copper deconcentration pathway in wastewater by studying published works-based research. Literature was collected and selected based on recency, accessibility, and the relationship among copper, wastewater, and plants. The study findings show that processing copper by plant has the greatest opportunity to be implemented on a building scale. The yard phytoarchitecture system involves arranging plants in the yard, which serves both as a decorative feature and a way to treat the building's wastewater. It can be used on dry yards or ponds and only requires a small amount of land. The plants used should have low leaf density and high root density. It plays a dual role consisting of onsite sanitation infrastructure and yard aesthetics, which mutually strengthen the environmental health locally and positively effect on a larger scale

    This study investigates the impact and implications of implementing cybersecurity identity verification on the popular instant messaging platform, WhatsApp. Specifically, it focuses on the effects of such a measure on resilient infrastructure, user perceptions of the platform's branding and trustworthiness, and the cost-effectiveness of this approach in preventing scams, phishing, fraud, and cybercrime. Empirical data collected from a diverse group of WhatsApp users highlight that the introduction of identity verification could potentially enhance transaction efficiency, foster trust, and boost user satisfaction, particularly regarding the platform's security. However, the cost and complexity of implementation pose significant challenges. Despite these hurdles, most users perceive the potential benefits to outweigh the associated costs, pointing to a broad acceptance of such security measures. The study provides practical and theoretical contributions, offering valuable insights for managers and decision-makers at WhatsApp, as well as contributing to academic discussions on digital platform management and security. The research also underscores the societal implications of such a measure, suggesting an increase in trust in digital communication platforms and supporting safer financial transactions on social media. The integration of identity verification on WhatsApp being a responsive institution emerges as a valuable but complex endeavor, demanding careful planning to ensure maximum value creation for all stakeholders

    Hybrid load forecasting considering energy efficiency and renewable energy using neural network

    In recent years, the relationship between a country's gross domestic product (GDP) and its electricity consumption has changed significantly due to increased energy efficiency (EE) and renewable energy (RE) adoption. This decoupling disrupts conventional load forecasting models, affecting utility companies. This study has developed an innovative solution using an artificial neural network (ANN) Hybrid method for load forecasting, resulting in a remarkably accurate model with 99.68% precision. Applying this model to Malaysia's electricity consumption from 2020 to 2040 reveals a significant 13% reduction when accounting for EE and RE trends. This method aids risk management, contingency planning, and decision-making by accurately reflecting changing energy usage dynamics influenced by EE and RE sources

    Characteristic of black soy miso with crude bromelain and Lactobacillus plantarum

    This research aims to improve the diversity of functional foods rich in bioactive peptide components and have a unique flavor for black soybean miso through the addition of crude bromelain and Lactobacillus plantarum. This research uses a completely randomized design with 5 treatments and 4 repetitions to obtain a total of 20 experimental units. The treatments are the different concentrations of crude bromelain addition, namely the control treatment or 0% (T0), 3% (T1), 6% (T2), 9% (T3), and 12 % (T4). The parameters observed are water content, water activity, pH value, and lactic acid bacteria (LAB) viability. The result showed that an increase in the crude bromelain concentration may increase the water content and water activity of the black soybean miso, while the pH value decreases. Based on the viability of the LAB showed a wavering result. Miso with the 9% concentration of crude bromelain is the best result among the others

    Complexes and bioenergy of invertebrates in oil-polluted gray-brown soils of Absheron

    Oil pollution negatively impacts not only the physicochemical and morpho-genetic parameters of soils but also the vital activity of soil biota-microorganisms and invertebrates. Studies have established that in the uncontaminated gray-brown soil of the Binagadi and Karadag massifs, the bulk of the invertebrate complex is gastropoda, insecta, tenebrionidae, and carabidae. In lightly oil-polluted biotopes, insecta, gastropoda, lithobiidae, tenebrionidae, carabidae, buprestidae, and woodlice of the genus hemilepstus occupy the leading place. The total number and biomass of invertebrates in uncontaminated biotopes of gray-brown soils of the Binagadi and Karadag massifs is 19.2 ind/m2, respectively; 26 gr/m2 and 20 ind/m2; 3.64 gr/m2. In slightly oil-contaminated biotopes, these indicators vary between 25.6 ind/m2, respectively; 3.5 gr/m2 and 12.8 ind/m2; 0.84 gr/m2. The energy accumulated in the mesofauna biomass in the slightly oil-polluted biotopes of the Karadag and Binagadi massif varies between 0.3268 gr/m2-1418.94 cal/m2 and 1.0468 gr/m2-5072.20 cal/m2, respectively. Thus, the reliability of the biogeocenoses is determined by the level and effective activity of soil organisms

    Evaluating metaverse platforms for educational purposes: a heuristic evaluation study

    This research's primary objective is to investigate the educational potential by investigating the metaverse website, emphasizing from users' perspectives. It is critical to examine the functionality to identify any potential faults in the learning experience because of the complexities of metaverse apps, which include 3D virtual environments and complex interactions. This study uses heuristic evaluation, which is a useful method for analyzing application success by utilizing well-established design principles and best practices in user interface and user experience design. To conduct this study, a panel of five experts, each with outstanding competence in the topic, was assembled to test the metaverse website in an educational setting. The evaluation was built on the ten heuristic evaluation standards, which served as a solid framework for measuring its usability and functionality. According to the findings of this examination, the average severity number of heuristic issues is one. This result indicates that the website is under "cosmetic problems only." While this implies that specific areas need to be addressed to improve overall quality, it also means that these difficulties do not take precedence over other vital ones. As a result, the website has significant promise as a metaverse instructional platform, and changes can be made to further improve its efficiency

    Indonesia's vast ocean expanse, spanning two-thirds of its land, is a treasure trove of marine resources, with shrimp being a vital commodity in the country's fisheries exports. To ensure successful shrimp production, maintaining optimal water conditions is paramount, necessitating extensive, large-scale monitoring. Enter our innovative prototype an internet of things (IoT) system designed for comprehensive pond water quality oversight. This smart system monitors crucial parameters like pH, turbidity, temperature, and dissolved solids in vannamei shrimp cultivation. The Mamdani fuzzy approach dynamically adjusts operations in response to changing weather conditions, fine-tuning both pump and windmill speeds. This adaptive methodology significantly improves water quality control, enhancing overall efficiency. Our IoT infrastructure ensures real-time monitoring and control, creating an ideal environment for shrimp cultivation. The Mamdani fuzzy technique’s effectiveness shines in adapting to dynamic environmental shifts. Noteworthy findings underscore the system's ability to automate and elevate pond water quality, promising increased shrimp production. This technology has the potential to revolutionize traditional shrimp farming, particularly in regions like Rembang, by promoting sustainable aquaculture practices

    Proportion optimization of honey pineapple juice on the custard organoleptic and chemical properties

    Custard is categorized as a dairy product that has a sweet taste, soft, and thick texture. The addition of honey pineapple to custard making is an innovation to improve the organoleptic and chemical characteristics of custard. The purpose of this study is to know the effect of adding honey pineapple juice on the organoleptic and chemical properties of pineapple custard. The experimental design used 5 treatments and 4 replications. The study began with the process of making custard products according to the addition of honey pineapple juice treatments there are P0 (control), P1 (20%), P2 (40%), P3 (60%), and P4 (80%). The test method is done by organoleptic and proximate analysis tests. The results of the organoleptic test showed that the addition of honey pineapple juice affects the color, taste, aroma, and overall preference of pineapple custard. Proximate analysis showed that the addition of pineapple juice honey affected the water content, ash content, fat content, and carbohydrate content of pineapple custard. This study concludes that the difference in the proportion of pineapple honey affects the organoleptic and chemical characteristics of pineapple custard

    Real-time smoke and fire detection using you only look once v8-based advanced computer vision and deep learning

    Fire and smoke pose severe threats, causing damage to property and the environment and endangering lives. Traditional fire detection methods struggle with accuracy and speed, hindering real-time detection. Thus, this study introduces an improved fire and smoke detection approach utilizing the you only look once (YOLO)v8-based deep learning model. This work aims to enhance accuracy and speed, which are crucial for early fire detection. The methodology involves preprocessing a large dataset containing 5,700 images depicting fire and smoke scenarios. YOLOv8 has been trained and validated, outperforming some baseline models- YOLOv7, YOLOv5, ResNet-32, and MobileNet-v2 in the precision, recall, and mean average precision (mAP) metrics. The proposed method achieves 68.3% precision, 54.6% recall, 60.7% F1 score, and 57.3% mAP. Integrating YOLOv8 in fire and smoke detection systems can significantly improve response times, enhance the ability to mitigate fire outbreaks, and potentially save lives and property. This research advances fire detection systems and establishes a precedent for applying deep learning techniques to critical safety applications, pushing the boundaries of innovation in public safety

    Performance assessment of routing protocols for campus area emergency delay-tolerant network

    Handheld devices have recently become an indispensable part of our daily lives. These devices always require an end-to-end connection for proper message transmission. Message transmission will be halted if the connection fails. In this case, delay-tolerant networks (DTNs) are preferable. One of the most important applications of DTN is the transmission of emergency messages among rescue personnel in the aftermath of a disaster. Previously, we created a simulation map in the Rajshahi University (RU) campus area of Bangladesh and studied the performance of DTN routing protocols. This paper used our developed simulation map to evaluate the performance of DTN and social-based routing protocols for emergency message circulation in the RU campus area when traditional communication networks are unavailable. We conducted extensive experiments with the opportunistic network environment (ONE) simulator for evaluations. The performance analysis is based on the delivery ratio, average latency, transmission cost, and average hop count of each group when the message size and node density are changed. According to the simulation results, dLife outperforms all other routing protocols in terms of delivery ratio, while the Spray-and-Focus routing protocol outperforms all other performance metrics
