Stable and robust control strategy using interval-valued fuzzy systems
In this paper we propose an adaptive interval valued fuzzy controller for high performance direct vector-controlled induction motor drive. Interval valued controller compared with type-1 fuzzy controller has the advantage that it can take into account the linguistic uncertainties present in the rules of the estimated models. The proposed control framework consists of a mixture of two controllers: an interval valued fuzzy controller and a supervisory controller. The supervisory controller is used when thesystem starts to become unstable. The free parameters for the proposed controller are changed according to some learning rules based on Lyapunov stability. Simulation results on an induction motor show the effectiveness ofthe introduced method
Diminution of factual power loss by enhanced bacterial foraging optimization algorithm
This paper presents an enhanced bacterial foraging optimization (EBFO)algorithm for solving the optimal reactive power problem. Bacterial foraging optimization is based on foraging behaviour of Escherichia coli bacteria which present in the human intestine. Bacteria have inclination to congregate the nutrient-rich areas by an action called as Chemo taxis. The bacterial foraging process consists of four chronological methods i.e. chemo taxis, swarming and reproduction and elimination-dispersal. In this work rotation angle adaptively and incessantly modernized, which augment the diversity of the population and progress the global search capability. The quantum rotation gate is utilized for chemo taxis to modernize the state of chromosome projected EBFO algorithm has been tested in standard IEEE 14,300 bus test system and simulation results show the projected algorithm reduced the real power loss extensively
Comparison study between seven-level SVPWM and two-level SVPWM strategy in direct vector control of a DFIG-based wind energy conversion systems
In this paper, we present a comparative study between two-level space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) and seven-level SVPWM strategy in direct vector control (DVC) of a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) based wind energy conversion systems (WECSs). The feasibility and effectiveness of the two strategies are demonstrated by simulation results. The obtained results showed that, the proposed DVC strategy with Seven-level SVPWM technique have stator and rotor current with low harmonic distortion and low active and reactive powers ripples than two-level SVPWM strategy
Effect of renewable energy sources integration on the optimal coordination of directional over-current relays in distribution system
The demand for power electricity is growing fast and one of the main tasks for power engineers is to generate electricity from renewable energy sources (RES). Nevertheless, problems arise when the new generation is integrated in the power distribution network. Under this condition, the main purpose in this paper, an investigation of the effect of RES integration on the optimal coordination of directional over-current relays in distribution system, a dual simplex optimization algorithm has been presented to determine the coordination of directional over-current relays (DOCRs). The system used to check the efficiency of the optimization algorithm which is IEEE 33-bus models. The analysis is performed in MATLAB software environment
Polar wolf optimization algorithm for solving optimal reactive power problem
This paper proposes polar wolf optimization (PWO) algorithm to solve the optimal reactive power problem. Proposed algorithm enthused from actions of polar wolves. Leader’s wolves which denoted as xα are accountable for taking judgment on hunting, resting place, time to awaken etc. second level is xβ those acts when there is need of substitute in first case. Then xγ be as final level of the wolves. In the modeling social hierarchy is developed to discover the most excellent solutions acquired so far. Then the encircling method is used to describe circle-shaped vicinity around every candidate solutions. In order to agents work in a binary space, the position modernized accordingly. Proposed PWO algorithm has been tested in standard IEEE 14, 30, 57,118,300 bus test systems and simulation results show the projected algorithms reduced the real power loss considerably
Robust maximum power point tracking control for photovoltaic system based on second order sliding-mode
This paper proposes a control approach of a maximum power point of a photovoltaic (PV) system using the second order sliding mode approach. The main objective of the proposed paper is to track the maximum power point (MPP) using super twisting algorithm (STA) with a one-loop control method and augment efficiency of the output power system. The structure of a proposed approach is simple and robust aging the atmospheric changes. Such control approach solution has several advantages such as simple implementation, robustness; reduce the chattering phenomenon and good dynamic response compared to traditional first-order sliding mode control algorithm. The controller circuit adapts the duty cycle of the switch electronic device of the DC/DC converter to search maximum power point tracking as a function of evolution of the power input. The effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed control are verified by simulation in MATLAB/Simulink environment and dSPACE-based hardware in loop platform
Modeling and control of 41-level inverter using best switching angles calculation method
In this paper, analysis and modeling of a single-phase H-bridge forty-one level inverter are con sidered. The control of proposed inverter by equal-phase and half-height methods is implemented. MATLAB/Simulink environments are used to simulate the model an d show obtained results of waveforms with FFT analysis. Eventually, the total harmonic distortion obtained for each level with the two methods is presented, comparatively, for a comparison
Comparison study between NPWM and NSVPWM strategy in FSMC control of stator reactive and active powers control of a DFIG-based wind turbine system
In this work, we present a comparative study between neural space vector pulse width modulation (NSVPWM) and neural pulse width modulation (NPWM) technique in fuzzy-sliding mode control (FSMC) of stator active and stator reactive power control of a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) for wind energy conversion systems (WECSs). Two strategies approach using FSMC-NSVPWM and FSMC-NPWM are proposed and compared. The validity of the proposed strategies is verified by simulation tests of a DFIG (1.5MW). The reactive power, electromagnetic torque, rotor current and stator active power is determined and compared in the above strategies. The obtained results showed that the proposed FSMC with NSVPWM strategy has stator reactive and active power with low powers ripples and low rotor current harmonic distortion than NPWM strategy
Transient development of MHD natural convection flow in vertical concentric annulus
This paper examines the role of magnetic field on fully developed natural convection flow in an annulus due to symmetric of surfaces. The transport equations concerned with the model under consideration are rendered non-dimensional and transformed into the ordinary differential equation using Laplace transform technique. The solution obtained is then transformed to time domain using the Riemann-sum approximation approach. The governing equations are also solved using implicit finite difference method so as to establish the accuracy of the Riemann-sum approximation approach at transient as well as at steady state solution. The solutions obtained are graphically represented and the effects of pertinent parameters on the flow formation are investigated in detail. The Hartmann number (M), is seen to have a retarding effect on the velocity, skin-frictions and the mass flow rate. Also, skin-friction at both surfaces and the mass flow rate within the annulus are found to be directly proportional to the radii ratio (λ)
New control scheme for synchronization of a photovoltaic system to a three-phase grid to attenuate the harmonics of currents caused by distorted grid voltage
This study presents a new scheme of control for the synchronization ofa photovoltaic (PV) system with a three-phase grid without a line sensor. The approach of the proposed synchronization technique is developed to extract the maximum of PV energy and inject it in the network for various conditions of voltage, and to ensure that the currents injected into the three-phase network emulate the wished sinusoidal forms even when the mains grid voltage is no longer ideal. This paper introduces a new technique of synchronization and elimination of the disturbances created by the distorted tension based on the direct power control without voltage sensors (VF_DPC) with the help of second-order generalized integrator (SOGI) associated with a self-tuning filter (STF) to extract the fundamental virtual flux. The simulation of the proposed system is realized in MATLAB/Simulink environment
