    Get PDF
Identifying and classifying microseismic signals is essential to warn of mines’ dangers. Deep learning has replaced traditional methods, but labor-intensive manual identification and varying deep learning outcomes pose challenges. This paper proposes a transfer learning-based convolutional neural network (CNN) method called microseismic signals-convolutional neural network (MS-CNN) to automatically recognize and classify microseismic events and blasts. The model was instructed on a limited sample of data to obtain an optimal weight model for microseismic waveform recognition and classification. A comparative analysis was performed with an existing CNN model and classical image classification models such as AlexNet, GoogLeNet, and ResNet50. The outcomes demonstrate that the MS-CNN model achieved the best recognition and classification effect (99.6% accuracy) in the shortest time (0.31 s to identify 277 images in the test set). Thus, the MS-CNN model can efficiently recognize and classify microseismic events and blasts in practical engineering applications, improving the recognition timeliness of microseismic signals and further enhancing the accuracy of event classification

    Get PDF
In the realm of natural language processing (NLP), a diverse array of language models has emerged, catering to a wide spectrum of tasks, ranging from speaker recognition and auto-correction to sentiment analysis and stock prediction. The significance of language models in enabling the execution of these NLP tasks cannot be overstated. This study proposes an approach to enhance accuracy by leveraging a hybrid language model, combining the strengths of long short-term memory (LSTM) and gated recurrent unit (GRU). LSTM excels in preserving long-term dependencies in data, while GRU's simpler gating mechanism expedites the training process. The research endeavors to evaluate four variations of this hybrid model: LSTM, GRU, bidirectional long short-term memory (Bi-LSTM), and a combination of LSTM with GRU. These models are subjected to rigorous testing on two distinct datasets: one focused on IBM stock price prediction, and the other on Jigsaw toxic comment classification (sentiment analysis). This work represents a significant stride towards democratizing NLP capabilities, ensuring that even in resource-constrained settings, NLP models can exhibit improved performance. The anticipated implications of these findings span a wide spectrum of real-world applications and hold the potential to stimulate further research in the field of NLP.

    Get PDF
Hyperspectral imaging (HSI) has emerged as a robust remote sensing and medical imaging tool. However, HSI classification remains a challenging problem due to the high-dimensional data and the need for efficient feature selection and enhancement techniques. The proposed work addresses the problem of spatial feature extraction in spectral-spatial HSI classification tasks. This paper introduces an innovative model addressing the intricacies of spatial feature extraction in spectral-spatial HSI classification tasks, employing a fusion of spectral and spatial features through an adaptive kernel-based Gaussian filtering mechanism to elevate the quality of HSI data and augment classification performance. The classification is executed using three distinct classifiers, whose decisions are harmoniously integrated within an ensemble learning framework to optimize outcomes. The effectiveness of the proposed system is meticulously evaluated across three diverse datasets, Indian Pine, Pavia, and Salinas. This study also compares the model's efficiency against the existing similar work presented in the literature. The results show that the proposed work outperforms existing methods with constantly showing 99% accuracy and kappa score for each dataset, demonstrating its potential applications in various domains such as remote sensing and medical imaging

A genetic algorithm-based feature selection approach for diabetes prediction

    Get PDF
Genetic algorithms have emerged as a powerful optimization technique for feature selection due to their ability to search through a vast feature space efficiently. This study discusses the importance of feature selection for prediction in healthcare and prominently focuses on diabetes mellitus. Feature selection is essential for improving the performance of prediction models, by finding significant features and removing unnecessary among them. The study aims to identify the most informative subset of features. Diabetes is a chronic metabolic disorder that poses significant health challenges worldwide. For the experiment, two datasets related to diabetes were downloaded from Kaggle and the results of both (datasets) with and without feature selection using the genetic algorithm were compared. Machine learning classifiers and genetic algorithms were combined to increase the precision of diabetes risk prediction. In the preprocessing phase, feature selection, machine learning classifiers, and performance metrics methods were applied to make this study feasible. The results of the experiment showed that genetic algorithm + logistic regression i.e., 80% (accuracy) works better for PIMA diabetes, and for Germany diabetes dataset genetic algorithm + random forest and genetic algorithm + K-Nearest Neighbor i.e., 98.5% performed better than other chosen classifiers. The researchers can better comprehend the importance of feature selection in healthcare through this study

    Get PDF
Barcode-less fruit recognition technology has revolutionized the checkout process by eliminating manual barcode scanning. This technology automatically identifies and adds fruit items to the purchase list, significantly reducing waiting times at the cash register. Faster checkouts enhance customer convenience and optimize operational efficiency for retailers. Adding barcode to fruits require using adhesives on the fruit surface that may cause health hazards. Leveraging deep learning techniques for barcode-less fruit recognition brings valuable advantages to industries, including advanced automation, enhanced accuracy, and increased efficiency. These benefits translate into improved productivity, cost reduction, and superior quality control. This study introduces a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) designed explicitly for automatic fruit recognition, even in challenging real-world scenarios. The proposed method assists fruit sellers in accurately identifying and distinguishing between different types of fruit that may exhibit similarities. A dataset that includes 44,406 images of different fruit types is used to train and test our technique. Employing a CNN, the developed model achieves an impressive classification accuracy of 97.4% during the training phase and 88.6% during the testing phase respectively, showcasing its effectiveness in precise fruit recognition

    Get PDF
This research uses the gray level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM) and artificial neural networks to classify COVID-19 images based on chest X-ray images. According to previous studies, there has never been a researcher who has integrated GLCM with artificial neural networks. Epochs 10, 30, 50, 70, 100, and 120 were used in this research. The total number of data points used in this investigation was 600, divided into 300 normal chests and 300 COVID-19 data points. Epoch 10 had 91% accuracy, epoch 30 had 91% accuracy, epoch 50 had 92% accuracy, epoch 70 had 91% accuracy, epoch 100 had 92% accuracy, and epoch 120 had 90% accuracy in categorization. As indicated by the results of the classification tests, combining GLCM and artificial neural networks can produce good results; a combination of these methods can yield a classification for COVID-19

The prediction of Bitcoin price through gold price using long short-term memory model

    Get PDF
The majority of research on predicting the price of Bitcoin employs technical methods to enhance long short-term memory models' effectiveness. Although some studies employ different machine learning techniques, such as economic or technical indicators, their precision is inadequate. Thus, this research aims to introduce a model that predicts the price of Bitcoin by utilizing the long short-term memory (LSTM) technique and incorporating gold's economic and technical data as features. The research collected gold and Bitcoin price data from FinanceDataReader for around seven years, from January 1, 2016, to January 22, 2023, consisting of six categories: date, open, high, low, close, volume, and change (based on dollars). The normalized closing price data was trained for 50 epochs, resulting in the loss value reaching close to zero. The model's accuracy was measured by mean squared error, resulting in a score of 0.0004. This study's importance is two-fold: firstly, it can provide cryptocurrency-related businesses with more accurate predictions and improved risk management indicators. Secondly, incorporating economic metrics can address the limitations of overfitting and a single model's poor performance
