Smart Prayer@ Raja Tun Uda Library
No full textSmart Solat@ Pustaka Raja Tun Uda was held on 23-24 February 2023. This idea was held during the school holiday. It is our initiative to make sure the time is filled with fun and new experiences. The goal is to ensure that our children are capable of thinking positively and being excellent. We ensure that our participants are aware of the importance of praying, performing Ibadah and to develop discipline among them. We also train participants to communicate effectively and becoming charismatic leaders. By setting up 20 sleeping tents, we offer a night of fun and memorable adventure. It lightens up their mood since no pandemic can stop them to participate in this program.
A schedule of activities was put together covering a wide range of topics from morning to night, such as ice breaking, treasures hunt, brisk walks, group training, theory and practical training. There were 57 participants, including children and teenagers aged 8 to 17 years.
Participants can increase their prayer knowledge, meet new friends and have valuable experiences. This is done to share the blessings and bring happiness within the community by making library relevan
Breaking boundaries with VR: Enhancing learning experiences for fine arts students
No full textThis paper presents the results of a pilot project implemented in the winter of 2023, when the Concordia University Library built customized access to a VR immersive experience for students in two Fine Arts courses. The pilot project explored the academic library’s integral role in making VR works accessible to students for applied integration in the classroom in consideration of learning outcomes. Through user experience surveys, valuable information was gathered to assess the project’s effectiveness in enhancing learning outcomes. It was found that the pilot facilitated learning experiences by:
• Enhancing student engagement with course content (connecting VR activity to class readings/lectures and promoting active learning by exploring new mediums and building memorable experiences)
• Generating discussion among students (exchanges on form/content, shared experiences, processing emotions emerging from the VR experience, and VR’s potential as an artistic medium)
Survey results illustrated how opportunities, challenges, and risks were impacted by factors such as accessibility, space, equipment, and emotional/physiological responses. This paper presents insights related to technical installation, training, documentation, and the importance of having dedicated staff to assist users.

Librarians’ Innovative Challenges for Users: Librarian-led Library Marketing
No full textThe 'Librarian-led Library Marketing' program of the Chungnam Library is a significant initiative aimed at promoting a reading culture and strengthening social communication with local residents. The program has been ongoing since 2018 and focuses on three key areas to achieve its objectives:
1. Advocating Reading Communities: Librarians actively participate in reading community activities to foster a self-sustaining regional reading environment. The program has supported 25 reading communities in the last five years.
2. Writing Book Reviews: Librarians regularly publish book reviews in the highly subscribed Provincial newspaper. These reviews encourage more people to read, with 158 reviews published in the last five years.
3. Lectures on Books: Popular lectures are given by librarians on various books, helping users discover new books and expand their interests. Over the past five years, they have introduced 65 books to 1,650 users. The 'Librarian-led Library Marketing' program aims to create a sustainable reading
ecosystem and enhance users' perception of the library and its librarians through organic communication. By actively engaging with the community and promoting reading in diverse ways, the Chungnam Library strives to enrich the lives of its users and contribute to the development of a thriving reading culture in the region
