ASSOCIATION BETWEEN PSYCHOSOCIAL FACTORS AND STAGES OF ACNE: A COMMUNITY BASED EPIDEMIOLOGICAL STUDY IN LAHORE, PAKISTAN
Background: There is no published epidemiological study to assess the prevalence, risk factors and management of acne based on severity among youth of Pakistan which could be helpful in guiding clinical decisions. Objective: Thus, the study was aimed at finding an association of different psychosocial and physiological factors like emotional status, diet, and menstrual cycle affecting severity and duration of acne. Methods: In this cross sectional observational study with 1175 pupils, initially screened for acne, the data of only 510 pupils (43.4%) -categorized according to Lehmann grading scale- were collected from the University of the Punjab, Lahore and its beleaguered community. Results: Our data suggested that 32.74%, 47.45% and 19.80% participants were suffering from mild, moderate and severe acne, respectively. Stress (p=0.002), anger (p=0.000), smoking (p=0.003), overproduction of oil (p=0.028), protein supplement (p=0.05), intake of cheese (p=0.044) and duration of acne (p=0.000) were strongly associated with severity of acne. Among all, only 65.88% of patients were taking either oral (doxycycline) or topical (clindamycin gel) medications, while others failed to opt any treatment. Conclusion: Taken together, mild to moderate acne is common among pupils of Lahore. Therefore, it is inevitable that targeted educational modules should be designed for the youth affected by acne due to psychosocial and physiological reasons along with clinical and non-clinical management preference
The DRUG UTILIZATION EVALUATION OF MACROLIDES IN ENT OUTPATIENT DEPARTMENT IN TEACHING HOSPITAL PUNJAB, PAKISTAN.
Background: A major danger to the health care system is the rise in antibiotic resistance. The aim of current Study is to evaluate the comparison defined daily dose (DDD) and prescribed daily dose (PDD) of macrolide and to evaluate the prescribing pattern of the drug, either it met the standards or not. Methodology: Quantitative, retrospective study was carried out to measure the use of antibiotics specifically macrolide antibiotics in ENT outdoor department of teaching hospital Punjab, Pakistan. Study research from August 2021 to October 2021, the patient who was reported in OPD of ENT department during study period of 3 month retrospectively. Results: Total 438 prescriptions were collected and reviewed to evaluate the prescribing pattern of macrolides in outdoor patients of ENT department. Out of 438 prescriptions only in one prescription 10 antibiotics was prescribe (polypharmacy) and in 19(4.3%) prescriptions only one antibiotic is prescribed. Drug prescribed by their generic were 438(100). Encounter with antibiotics 95%. All drug were prescribed from essential drug list (EDL). Azithromycin was the most commonly prescribed drug in ENT department, followed by clarithromycin. Conclusion: Control bacterial resistance is become challenge to our health care system, major portion of our population is become resistance to majority classes of antibiotic if this practice will continue in future, it became difficult to control or treat infectious diseases. Irrational use of drugs, over prescribing of antibiotics and brand prescribing were observing during the study. Lack of knowledge and non-adherence to the prescribing indicators are the major factors that contribute towards the irrational drug prescribing that ultimately leads towards the antibiotics resistance

Formulation and Optimization of Aceclofenac Loaded Nanosuspension : Umair Afzal, Syed. Muhammad Aun, Muhammad khuram shahzad, Razi ullah khan, Syed Ahmad Shah, Alishba Ch
Background: The aceclofenac sodium is used as non-steroidal anti inflammatory drug (NSAID), administered through the oral route, causing numerous side effects like nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, gastrointestinal bleeding and peptic ulcer. NSAIDs, promote the secretions of hydrochloric acid which cause severe damage to the walls of gastro intestinal tracts well as to the drug.
Objectives: Aceclofenac was added in combination with different polymers to form a uniform nano suspension.
Methodology: Three sets of formulations were prepared by using silverson mixer. The organoleptic evaluation, particle size determination, assay, in vitro drug release study and drug excipient compatibility studies were performed. The results were obtained on the basis of drug and excipients compatibility studies, scanning electron microscopy, In vitro drug release study and assay studies.
Results: In this study, the nanosuspension of aceclofenac sodium is produced, which spread on the wider surface area of GIT. Due to this reason, the decrease in accumulated concentration, the secretion of hydrochloric acid is not promoted, the chance of damage to GIT is drastically reduced, and the drug also escaped from the damage and the absorption of drug is also increased.
Conclusion: The F1 formulation showed best results as compared to other two formulations. These results were obtained due to the effect of polymers used in combination with drug and surfactant
HEPATITIS-A QUICK VIEW
Viral HepatitisEvery one of us has heard the word “hepatitis” and considered it a fatal disease. “Viral hepatitis” is the inflammation of the liver that is caused by a nasty family of viruses. Due to hepatitis, it is estimated that globally 1.34 million people died per year and it is also reported that about 80% of cases of liver cancer are only caused by hepatitis B and Hepatitis C together. The number of patients having this infection is amplifying each year, which is quite an alarming situation (1).
Viral Hepatitis Modes of TransmissionHAV (Hepatitis A Virus) transmitted by the contaminated water (fecal-oral route), and for HBV (Hepatitis B Virus) and HBC (Hepatitis C Virus)There are mainly four modes of transmission, these are;1. Via blood2. Through sexually contact3. Through needle sharing during drug administration and4. From an infected mother to baby.Further, health care professionals who are dealing with the patients and their sample are also at higher risk

Editorial of International Journal of Pharmacy and Integrated Health Sciences
The International Journal of Pharmacy & Integrated Health Sciences (IJPIHS) began in 2021 and its achievement is deceptive in the number of manuscripts submitted and the diversity of scientific themes comprised by the journal. We trust that IJPIHS should endure serving a wideranging concern dealing with the specialized area of Pharmaceutical and Biological Sciences. Submission of a paper to IJPIHS infers that all the corresponding and co-authors should be aware of the manuscript submission and it may not be under consideration and/or not be the part elsewhere. This journal targets to inaugurate a platform for providing research ideas on novel developing tendencies in pharmaceutical and integrated health sciences
