Gender-specific effectiveness of dialectic-behavioral therapy for patients with complex post-traumatic stress disorder (DBT-PTSD)
Background: Complex post-traumatic stress disorder (cPTSD) as recently included in the ICD 11, extending the PTSD symptom profile by including disturbances in self-organization (DSO). Trauma-focused Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT-PTSD) is an evidence-based treatment, particularly effective among women, but data on its gender-specific effectiveness in naturalistic settings are limited. This study investigated whether DBT-PTSD is equally effective in reducing trauma-related symptoms among women, men, and gender minority individuals in routine clinical care.
Methods: In this observational single-center study, 215 inpatients with cPTSD (78.1% women, 18.6% men, 3.3% gender minority; mean age 44.6 ± 11.5 years) received DBT-PTSD at a psychosomatic inpatient clinic in Austria. Symptom severity was assessed using the International Trauma Questionnaire (ITQ) at admission (T1) and discharge (T2) as the primary outcome. Secondary outcomes included depression, anxiety, somatization, dissociation, borderline symptoms, personality traits, emotion regulation, locus of control, and functioning. Gender differences in treatment response were analyzed using repeated measures ANOVAs, while predictors of treatment outcomes were identified through machine learning (XGBoost) and validated with regression analyses.
Results: DBT-PTSD resulted in significant reductions of cPTSD symptoms with a large effect size (p<.001, η²=0.16). No significant gender differences were found for ITQ scores (p=.48, η²<0.01) or secondary outcomes (p=.07–.98, η²≤0.01). Significant improvements were observed across secondary outcomes, including borderline symptomatology, depression, somatization, anxiety, emotion regulation, and functioning (p ≤.001). Predictors of poorer outcomes differed by gender: in men, sick leave, high negative affectivity, and high antagonism explained 69% of variance in ITQ scores at T2, while in women, age, negative affectivity, psychoticism, low social functioning, dissociation, and pain explained 65%.
Discussion: DBT-PTSD proved to be effective for both men and women in a real-world inpatient setting, showing broad and clinically meaningful improvements. Although no gender differences in overall treatment effects emerged, gender-specific predictors underline the importance of tailored assessment and individualized therapy planning. These findings support DBT-PTSD as a robust intervention for cPTSD across genders and highlight the need for further research with larger and more diverse samples.

The role of the Compliance Officer has become increasingly popular within companies in order to meet the growing demand for legal compliance and responsible corporate governance. This paper examines whether this role offers any entrepreneurial benefits or added value. In particular, it analyses the professional profile of the Compliance Officer and highlights their legal position within the organisation.Diplomarbeit Universität Innsbruck 202
Extensions and Limitations of the Noisy Stabilizer Formalism
The stabilizer formalism is a central framework in quantum computing and one of the key building blocks for fault-tolerant quantum computers. According to the Gottesman–Knill theorem, we can efficiently simulate any quantum system consisting of stabilizer states, Clifford gates, and Pauli measurements on a classical computer.
A key challenge in developing robust quantum technologies is that physical quantum systems are unavoidably affected by noise, which degrades quantum information. Accurate noise modeling is therefore essential.
For stabilizer states, the noisy stabilizer formalism has recently been introduced as a framework for efficiently describing the evolution of graph states subject to Pauli-diagonal noise under Clifford operations and Pauli measurements.
In this thesis, we explore and extend this formalism in two directions. First, we generalize the method from graph states to arbitrary stabilizer states, thereby extending the Gottesman-Knill theorem to noisy scenarios. Second, we extend the formalism to handle noise models beyond Pauli-diagonal channels. Moreover, we study the applicability of the noisy stabilizer formalism to entanglement purification protocols.
This master's thesis examines the prerequisites, scope, and limits of profit distribution restrictions that may apply in the course of reorganization processes at Austrian corporations, based on relevant case law and literature. First, the prerequisites for a profit distribution claim and how this is determined in the balance sheet are outlined. The focus of the study is on the presentation of the facts of Section 235 (1) of the Austrian Commercial Code (UGB), which provides for an explicit distribution restriction in connection with reorganizations. Furthermore, an overview of other profit distribution restrictions is provided. However, as these do not apply explicitly only to reorganization processes and in order not to exceed the scope of this thesis, the explanations are limited to the essentials. Due to its thematic proximity to the topic of the thesis, the thesis contains a digression on the significance of a capital-reducing effect in the context of reorganizations, the principles developed by case law in this regard, and which countermeasures can be considered to compensate for such an effect. Due to its practical relevance, the focus is on limited liability companies (GmbH) and stock corporations (AG). Differences between the types of companies covered are only emphasized where they are legally relevant to the decision. Any special features for other corporations are mentioned in each individual case.von Mag.
