    Buying NFTs to Support Artists? The Impact of Moral Values on the Acceptance of NFTs

    Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are unique digital assets that have recently gained significant popularity, particularly in the digital art sector. The success of NFTs and other blockchain-based innovations depends on their ac-acceptance and use by consumers. This study aims to understand the impact of moral values on the acceptance of NFTs. Based on a quantitative survey with over 800 complete responses, the analysis shows that moral aspects of NFTs are indeed important for potential users. However, there is an attitude-behavior gap, as the positive impact of moral values on the intention to use NFTs is not reflected in the actual current usage of NFTs by the respondents. This study contributes to knowledge by providing new empirical data on the acceptance of NFTs and highlighting the role of moral values on the acceptance decision

    Künstliche Intelligenz (KI) wird als eine der Schlüsseltechnologien gesehen, um einen Beitrag zur Lösung der komplexen Herausforderungen der Abwasserwirtschaft (Klimawandel, Digitalisierung, Fachkräftemangel etc.) zu leisten. Ein möglicher Ansatz zur Integration von KI in die Planung, Aus- und Weiterbildung und den Betrieb abwassertechnischer Infrastrukturkomponenten ist der Einsatz von Assistenzsystemen, die Personal bei ihren Aufgaben aktiv unterstützen und entlasten. KI-basierte Assistenzsysteme sind im Vergleich zu konventionellen Systemen insbesondere für komplexe Fragestellungen geeignet, da sie Zusammenhänge erlernen, sich weiterentwickeln und eigenständig Entscheidungen in Abhängigkeit von den aktuellen Rahmenbedingungen treffen können. Ziel dieses Beitrags ist die Definition, Beschreibung und Einordnung KI-basierter Assistenzsysteme nach Art und Anwendungsfällen. Darüber hinaus werden die Erfolgsfaktoren für die Entwicklung und den Einsatz KI-basierter Assistenzsysteme in der Praxis diskutiert, und es wird einen Überblick aktueller und zukünftiger Entwicklungen gegeben

    A survey of literature on automated storage and retrieval systems from 2009 to 2019

    This paper provides a literature review on automated storage and retrieval systems based on the Scopus database. The last comprehensive literature review that analyses the subject in its entirety dates back to 2009 by Roodbergen and Vis. Since then, the scientific community has provided many new efficient solutions, most of which are collected in Scopus. All these new published solutions need to be classified and summarised; thus, for this paper, more than one thousand scientific publications were analysed in order to classify the proposed solutions, deliver new academic insights to the field, and provide clear guidelines for researchers and practitioners

    Der Neuentwurf zur DEGA Richtlinie 103-1: Schallschutz im Wohnungsbau – Schallschutzklassen und erhöhter Schallschutz.

    In diesem Beitrag wird der Entwurf der DEGA-Richtlinie 103-1 : 2023-05 „Schallschutz im Wohnungsbau Teil 1: Schallschutzklassen und erhöhter Schallschutz“ vorgestellt [1]. Dieser Entwurf basiert auf der DEGA-Empfehlung 103, Ausgabe 2018. Einsprüche zu diesem Entwurf können bis zum 09. 10. 2023 an die DEGA gesendet werden. Der hier vorgestellte Teil 1 behandelt die Schallschutzklassen mit den dazu gehörenden Anforderungen. In einem noch zu erarbeitenden Teil 2 soll dann der Schallschutzausweis behandelt werden. Im Entwurf wird das Konzept der sieben Schallschutzklassen aus der DEGA-Empfehlung 103 weitergeführt. Wesentliche Änderung ist die Einführung eines parallelen Konzepts bauteilbezogener und raumbezogener Kenngrößen zum Schallschutz. Bezüglich der subjektiven Wahrnehmung von Geräuschen wird die Anwendung der raumbezogenen Kenngrößen (DnT,w, LnT,w und LAF,max,nT) empfohlen. Die Klassifizierung erfolgt anhand dieser Kenngrößen, kann aber auch mithilfe der bisher gewohnten Größen für die Schalldämmung von Bauteilen (R'w, L'n,w) erfolgen. Die aktuell diskutierten Änderungen bei der geplanten Überarbeitung der DIN 4109 Reihe wurden dabei berücksichtigt

    Development of I3S Encoding of CityGML 3.0 for Indoor Modelling

    OGC standard CityGML is a well-known open data standard and data exchange format for the representation of 3D urban objects. Both private and government organizations across several cities use this data format for various applications, ranging from city planning to disaster man-agement. However, its XML-based data exchange format makes it difficult for developers to de-velop any toolsets, which can facilitate a loss-less data conversion between CityGML and other data standards. The new version of CityGML, version 3.0 released by OGC brings some interest-ing advancements in the existing data format. Officially, the data can now be encoded in XML/GML format as well as in other encoding standards, such as CitySQL, CityJSON, 3D Tiles, I3S, etc. Therefore, in this thesis a conceptual mapping is developed between the elements of CityGML 3.0 building objects and Indexed 3D Scene (I3S) Building Scene Layer (BSL), a new addition to OGC I3S implementation, to support future development of tools, which can encode CityGML 3.0 elements to I3S without any data losses. Additionally, in CityGML 3.0, the concept of level of details (LODs) is also revised, in which the interiors can be visualized across all the LODs (0/1/2/3). Therefore, a web-based 3D application is developed to demonstrate the utilization of the CityGML 3.0 model as a simplified building model (LOD2+room elements) for indoor modelling applications

    HOT SPOTS IN CITIES – CLASSIFYING EMOTIONS DURING PHYSICAL OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES IN URBAN AREAS

    Abstract. Determining emotions of people during different activities (e.g. surfing the web or walking and driving in urban areas) is of high interest to many industries such as the advertising and marketing industry (Imotions, 2022) or city developers and planners (Zeile et al., 2015). However, as the authors have explained in their previous works (Schneider et al., 2020, Dastageeri et al., 2019, Kohn et al., 2018), it is very difficult to determine emotions using surrogate measurements. This is compounded by the fact that many people have trouble to name their emotions correctly as they are often mixed and hardly ever occur as a single and distinct emotion. In order to improve the attractiveness of cities not just based on general presumptions about how citizens would react to certain changes in the urban environment, but based on physical measurements, previous works have shown approaches to do that (Schneider et al., 2020, Dastageeri et al., 2019). They have developed a first attempt to correlate measured physical parameters such as heart rate and skin conductivity (among others) which are triggered by location and environment to emotional states using machine learning. To correlate locations to emotions is an important aspect for city planners, as a person’s emotion for a location defines the personal relationship to a place which can help to gauge the attractiveness of a place and give indicators about where to improve the city or place

    Reduction of Heating Energy Consumption of Existing Public Buildings Through the Use of IoT

    Public buildings are widely distributed throughout cities and municipalities, serving as important elements of daily life and infrastructure. Examining their energy-saving potential and implementing standardized solutions is a worthwhile endeavor due to their similar usage and construction patterns. While refurbishment measures often incur high costs and restrict building usage, substantial reductions in costs and CO2 emissions can be achieved through efficient and user-specific control of the building using minimally invasive methods. In this paper, we present an approach to reducing heating energy demand in a public school by employing energy monitoring and occupancy techniques. We have developed a transferable energy monitoring concept that allows us to understand the energy demand in relation to building usage and take regulatory actions accordingly. By conducting thermal simulations, we demonstrate potential savings of up to 36% through these measures, specifically for our example building

    ENABLING INTEROPERABILITY OF URBAN BUILDING ENERGY DATA BASED ON OGC API STANDARDS AND CITYGML 3D CITY MODELS

    Abstract. This paper presents an investigation into the interoperability of 3D building energy data management, delivery, processing, and visualization via web clients using Open Geospatial Consortium – Application Programming Interface (OGC API) standard-based data models and web interfaces. Specifically, the OGC API – 3D GeoVolumes enable access to 3D city model geometries and semantics on the web, the OGC API – Features support the 2D version of the same geospatial data, the OGC API – Processes are used for CityGML analytics and building energy computation with the SimStadt urban simulation software and the OGC SensorThings API is utilized to manage related spatiotemporal or time-series datasets. The efficacy of this approach has been demonstrated in the OGC Testbed 18 Innovation Program, which highlighted the capacity of OGC API web services to synchronize building energy data and computation results between client and server for the case study of Helsinki, Finland, and Montreal, Canada. The advantages of using OGC API services for 3D building energy data interoperability are discussed, and it is suggested that the use of OGC API be promoted to the general public as well as extended to other domains and on a larger scale in future research
