    Detection of Some Heavy Metals in Tigris River Fish, South of Baghdad, Iraq

    The presence and concentrations of several heavy metals in fish species discovered in the Tigris River, especially in southern Baghdad, Iraq, are investigated in this work. Essential for the neighbouring inhabitants, the Tigris River is becoming more polluted by urban, agricultural, and industrial activities. The research aimed to identify and analyze the concentrations of heavy metals (Cadmium, Copper, Nickel, Lead, and Zinc), evaluating the probable health dangers connected to fish consumption from this location. Different fish samples were collected from many points along the river, and advanced analytical techniques were used to ascertain the metal concentrations. The results showed varying degrees of contamination among the investigated species; several species exceeded accepted worldwide safety criteria. The findings of this research cause concerns about the possible long-term consequences of heavy metal pollution in the Tigris River on human health and ecology. This underlines the necessity of regular monitoring and more stringent environmental restrictions

    Infertile Women's Awareness About Sexually Transmitted Disease in Al-Najaf City, Iraq

    The study aim to identify women's awareness regarding sexually transmitted diseases and to find out the relationship between women's awareness and their demographic data (age, marital status, number of children, residency, educational level, occupation, using contraceptives, contraceptive methods, source of information about menopause problems). A cross-sectional descriptive approach was carried out through the present study in order to achieve the objectives stated earlier. The study was begun from December 2nd, 2023, to May 1st, 2024. The study is conducted in Al-Najaf City in Iraq in an infertility center. A non-probability (Purposive sample) sample of one hundred (130) women who attended infertility centers at Al-Najaf Al-Ashraf. The data collection is done by constructing a questionnaire by the interview technique with each woman, using the Arabic questionnaire version, and it consists of three parts: Part 1 includes socio-demographic characteristics, Part 2 Include (10) items concerned with information about STD, and part 3 concerned with infertile women's awareness about symptoms of STD. Validity of the study instrument is conducted through a panel of experts with years of experience in nursing. Results revealed that the majority the women recorded fair knowledge for overall items. There is a significant difference in the women's overall Knowledge level and Demographic Characteristics, at a p-value of less than 0.05, except for age, residence, and use of contraceptives; the p-value was more than 0.05. The majority of the women recorded fair awareness regarding sexually transmitted diseases. Recommendations about sexually transmitted diseases during antenatal health care for (secondary infertile women) by using panflet that explain about STD.     Effect of Chia Seed Oil Addition on Bacterial Adhesion, Tensile Strength, and Hardness in Soft Denture Liners (An in-vitro study)

    Denture soft liners play a critical role in enhancing patient comfort and preventing tissue irritation, especially in individuals with resorbed ridges. However, their long-term use is hindered by microbial colonization, particularly Candida albicans, leading to conditions such as denture-induced stomatitis. This study aimed to evaluate the mechanical properties and antibacterial effectiveness of heat-cured soft liners incorporating Chia seed oil at 0.5% and 2% concentrations. A control group was compared to these formulations, and Staphylococcus epidermidis was used to assess bacterial adherence. Hardness and tensile strength were measured using a durometer and a universal testing machine, respectively, while statistical analysis employed one-way ANOVA and Tukey tests. Results showed that both concentrations of Chia seed oil significantly reduced bacterial adherence (P < 0.01) but also led to a decrease in hardness and tensile strength (P < 0.05). These findings highlight the potential of Chia seed oil as an antimicrobial additive in soft liners, offering improvements in oral health and patient care outcomes

    Deaf and hard-of-hearing people use sign language detection to communicate. Sign language is crucial for deaf and hard of hearing people to communicate. Recent advances in computer vision and machine learning have enabled sign language gesture recognition and decipherment. Abstract: Deep learning and computer vision techniques for sign language identification systems are studied and developed. Insufficient datasets and regional sign language gesture variations are discussed in this research. The suggested methods improve sign language recognition system precision and responsiveness, improving deaf community accessibility and inclusivity. Deploying the model on powerful hardware and using TensorFlow's GPU support allows low-latency sign identification for real-world applications. Our experiments show that the system can recognize sign motions in real time with high accuracy and minimal latency. Deaf and hard-of-hearing people can communicate and live better with this technology, making sign language more inclusive.     INVESTIGATION OF THE EFFECT OF CHITOSAN NANOPARTICALS ON MDR BACILLUS CEREUS ISOLATED FROM PASTEURIZED MILK

    The current study focused on extending the storage life of pasteurized milk by taking advantage of nanoparticles of the biopolymer known as chitosan, where the nanoparticles were synthesized based on a green technology, meaning that it does not have any negative harm to the synthetic material. The laboratory-synthesized nanoparticles were characterized by a size ranging from 100 to 140 nanometers when examined immediately after the anthesis and the size when examined two weeks after the anesthesia, the size was 115-220 nm, using a transmission electron microscope (TEM) of the type Philips CM10. By studying the inhibitory action of the nanoparticles in the Muller-Hinton agar culture medium, it was found that the synthesized particles have the ability to combat the pathogenic Bacillus cereus bacteria that form blackboards when using different concentrations (0. 25 - 0. 5 - 1%), where it was found that the best diameter of the contrast corona was (14-15 mm at the two concentrations (0. 5) (1) sequentially When testing the biological validity of pasteurized milk at a temperature of 5 semen for a period of -1-15-30 days of storage and after adding nano-chitosan using the three aforementioned concentrations, it was found that the number of B. cereus It was varied as it reached on the first day when using the three concentrations 10 FU/ml 1 x, but on the fifteenth day the numbers were as follows 10 CFU/ml 2 x 10 -3 x 10 - 5 x and according to the concentrations (0. 25) - 0. 5 - 1% On the thirtieth day, the bacterial numbers decreased in pasteurized milk fortified with nanoparticles of chitosan, and the result was as follows (10 CFU/mL (10) - 10 - 2 x relative to the three concentrations, respectively). This result was an indication of the effectiveness of nanoparticles of chitosan in preventing cell growth. vegetation and the formation of new spores compared with the number of Bacillus cereus, which is approximately 107 CFU/ml x when pasteurized milk is stored for 15 days at a temperature of 5°C. It indicates contamination of milk and its products. It has been observed that increasing the concentration of added nano-chitosan increases the antimicrobial activity

    The Effect Of Prophylactic Intravenous Tranexamic Acid On Blood Loss After Vaginal Delivery In Women At Low Risk Of Postpartum Hemorrhage

    To determine the impact of prophylactic tranexamic acid (TA) on both calculated and observed blood loss in women undergoing vaginal delivery who are at low risk of postpartum hemorrhage. This double-blind randomized controlled trial involved 140 women with singleton pregnancies, who were randomly assigned to either receive a placebo or one gram of intravenous tranexamic acid (TA) in combination with 10 IU of oxytocin at the time of fetal delivery.  Blood loss was estimated based on hematocrit levels measured before delivery and 12–24 hours postpartum. The blood loss was further quantified by measuring the time elapsed from fetal delivery to placental expulsion and from placental expulsion to the conclusion of the second hour after childbirth. The intervention group experienced significantly lower measured blood loss from placental delivery to two hours postpartum (68 (39) vs. 107 (53) mL, P < 0.001) and reduced mean (SD) calculated total blood loss (516 (312) vs. 655 (400) mL, P = 0.036) compared to the control group. However, there was no notable difference between the groups in blood loss from fetal delivery to placental expulsion. Additionally, the frequency of estimated blood loss exceeding 1000 mL was lower in the TA group (8% vs. 19%, P = 0.048).  In conclusion, prophylactic use of tranexamic acid benefits women at low risk of postpartum hemorrhage by effectively reducing blood loss after vaginal delivery. Its preventive use could enhance maternal health and mitigate issues related to excessive blood loss

    Sickness is a problem that affects one in three people. Unneeded illness and death are the outcome of this. The availability of clean drinking water has significantly improved, but inadequate sanitation is eroding these advancements. With the provision of affordable equipment and hygiene teaching, we can eliminate this unnecessary suffering and death. The use of biological treatment technology to treat slaughterhouse effluent is a highly practical and cost-effective option. Various technical approaches were examined in order to obtain the necessary quality of effluents for disposal or reuse. However, most practical procedures come with a slew of benefits and drawbacks. However, because slaughterhouse waste contains biodegradable organic matter, anaerobic digestion technology is frequently used for commercial advantage. The common approaches utilized in the treatment of wastewater in slaughterhouses, as well as their applicability, are discussed in this study. The benefits and drawbacks of various techniques were weighed. Anaerobic, facultative lakes, Additionally demonstrated to be effective were drip filters and the activated sludge method, however they needed longer start-up periods. The different tactics utilized in other wastewater treatment to create useful by-products through anaerobic digestion are also explored in this study
