Effect of SLC30A8 rs13266634 Genetic Polymorphism with Diabetic Nephropathy Patients
Diabetic nephropathy is a pathological disease that is commonly observed in persons with diabetes. The purpose of this research was to compare the effects of the SLC30A8 rs13266634 gene polymorphism on people with and without diabetic nephropathy. The study comprised 170 patients, aged 40 to 75, who were admitted to the dialysis unit at the Al-Diwaniyah Teaching Hospital in Iraq in 2021 and 2022. There is a connection between SLC30A8 gene polymorphisms and diabetic nephropathy, according to the results of a study looking at the interaction between comorbid diseases and patients with the disease. Particularly, we discovered that individuals with the C allele of T/C (OR = 0.509, 95% Cl = 0.307- 0.843, p-value = 0.008 < 0.05), the TC genotype of T/C (OR = 0.280, 95% Cl = 0.118- 0.665, p-value = 0.003 < 0.05), and the TC & CC genotype had higher odds of infection with DN compared to the TT genotype (OR = 0.391, 95% Cl = 0.203- 0.756, p-value = 0.005 < 0.05)
Impact of Type 2 Diabetes on Men's Testosterone, BMI, and Lipid Profiles
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is the most prevalent type of diabetes globally, with well-understood pathophysiology. Recent research suggests testosterone may influence metabolic disorders like T2DM. This study aimed to examine the association between lipid profiles, testosterone levels, and body mass index (BMI) in 60 male Iraqi patients aged 40-50 with T2DM. A case-control study was conducted, including 60 diabetic men divided into two subgroups based on testosterone levels and a control group of 20 non-diabetic men. Measurements included testosterone, fasting blood glucose (FBG), HbA1c, lipid profiles, and BMI. Results indicated that diabetic men with low testosterone had significantly higher lipid profiles (TC, triglycerides, LDL, VLDL, HDL) and BMI compared to those with normal testosterone and the control group. FBG correlated positively with triglycerides and VLDL but negatively with HDL in the low testosterone group. Additionally, HbA1c negatively correlated with LDL, and the duration of diabetes correlated positively with cholesterol and LDL. The study concludes that low testosterone levels are common in T2DM patients and are associated with adverse lipid profiles and increased BMI, suggesting a potential role of androgens in lipid metabolism in diabetic patients
Studying the Technology of Obtaining a Mixture of Dry Extracts Against Helminths
This study looks into the process of creating a combination of dry extracts with anti-helminthic qualities, emphasizing benefits over chemical medications like less toxicity and extended use. While a lot of study has been done on individual plant extracts, nothing is known about how effective these extracts when combined. In order to extract and evaluate mixtures from wormwood, pumpkin seeds, tansy flowers, and garlic, this study used two procedures. The physiologically active compounds were quantified using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), with a particular emphasis on flavonoids. The first extraction procedure yielded a higher flavonoid concentration, according to the results. These results highlight the need for more study to improve extraction methods and point to the possibility of creating robust, plant-based anti-helminthic therapies

This study was conducted in the laboratories of the University of Tikrit / College of Education for Girls / Department of Life Sciences / and quality control laboratories for the study of the unified Tikrit city water station project , which is located on the course of the Tigris River within Salah al-Din Governorate, where the study included five stages, starting with river water, sedimentation basins and preservation tank, and ending with the last stage liquefaction water for the Shuhada neighborhood, For the purpose of studying the physical properties of the project water and comparing the results with standard specifications, and the study period extended from August 2023 AD until January 2024 AD, the study included measuring (water temperature, turbidity, salinity, electrical conductivity), temperature values ranged between (29.8-14) degrees Celsius and turbidity values ranged between (1.4-54.6) and salinity values ranged between (145-256) The electrical conductivity values ranged between (106-256) mg/L
Efficacy of Stage-Matched Intervention Based on The Transtheoretical Model of Behavior Change in Enhancing High School Students’ Decisional Balance of Digital Gaming Behavior: A Randomized Controlled Trial
Social media and other digital technology are undoubtedly being used by individuals more regularly for informational and entertainment purposes. To alter the internet gaming habits of male high school students, the researcher employed The Transtheoretical Model of Change. Objective: This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Stage-Matched Intervention in altering the digital gaming behavior of male high school students. Methods: A controlled, randomized trial as the basis for the experimental design. The tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grades of a male high school (16–18 years old) were the classes from which the study participants were selected. The study group and the control group, each consisting of 72 students, were chosen from a randomly assigned of participants. The study instrument consists of Lemmens questionnaire (problematic gaming measure), The Stage of Change for problematic gaming, Decisional Balance of digital game use, Oasis measure (anxiety measure), Barratt impulsiveness measure (impulsivity measure), and Cantrill Scale (wellness measure). A self-reporting questionnaire was used to gather the data. Results: Over time, statistically significant differences have been observed between the study and control groups in regard to the Stage of Change, Processes of Change, Decisional Balance, and Self-Efficacy for study group participants. Conclusions: As a result of the intervention that was given, participants were moved to higher Stages of Change. Molecular Identification of Several Genes in Isolates from Vaginal Secretions Linked to Biofilm Formation and Antibiotic Resistance
Bacterial vaginitis, which affects millions of women worldwide, is linked to numerous major health issues, and cause by numerous aerobic and facultative bacteria including, Klebsiella pneumonia (K. pneumoniae) which become one of the major pathogenic bacteria, it responsible for both nosocomial and community-acquired infections because of its high virulence factors and widespread antibiotic resistance. This study looked at the frequency of K. pneumoniae in vaginal discharge from patients with vaginitis. It also looked at the molecular relationships between the isolates under investigation and the genes involved in biofilm formation (fimH and mrkD) and multidrug resistance (blaSHV and blaTEM) genes. From 1st November 2023 to 30th June 2024, 390 women of reproductive age who visited the gynecology department of Kirkuk General Hospital in northern Iraq for medical attention participated in the study. The data was gathered using a structured questionnaire. After vaginal swabs were collected, they underwent routine microbiological procedures such as culture, Gram stain, biochemical testing, and Vitek-2 Compact System for confirmation purpose. The susceptibility profiles of the K. pneumoniae isolates were examined by the Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion technique. Descriptive statistical analyses were also done. Out of 390 vaginal swab samples, 51.79% of samples give positive microbial growth including 5.38% K. pneumoniae isolates. Biofilm formation detected among 57.1% of the selected isolates. Regarding Antibiotic susceptibility, all isolates were 100% resistant to Amoxicillin, and Ampicillin. Followed by (85.7%, 81%,76.2%, 71.4%, 66.7%, 61.9%, and 47.6%) resistant to Ciprofloxacin, Cefotaxim, Cefixim, ceftriaxone, Levofloxacin, Azithromycin, Cefepime respectively. There is Low resistant rate (33.3%, and 28.6%) observed against Gentamycin and Amikacin. However, all isolates (100%) were susceptible to imipenem. PCR product reveals high level (100%, and 85.72%) of fimH, and mrkD genes respectively. Whereas (66.14%, and 52.8%) of isolates harbor blaSHV, blaTEM genes respectively, which explain the occurrence of multidrug resistant K. pneumoniae strains among patients with vaginitis. This makes it necessary to implement infection control, good hygiene, and stewardship programs, in order to reduce the prevalence of multidrug resistant strains in healthcare and the community setting
Study of the Relationship of Kim-1 Correlation with Some Physiological and Biochemical Indicators in Males with Diabetic Nephropathy in Kirkuk City
This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between KIM-1 protein and biochemical markers associated with diabetes, to determine its potential role as a biological indicator of the development of diabetic nephropathy. The study was conducted in Kirkuk Governorate during the period from December 2023 to May 2024, where 90 samples were collected from government and private hospitals and specialized medical clinics, including 70 patients with diabetic nephropathy and 20 non-diabetic nephropathy. Diabetic nephropathy is a chronic complication of diabetes, characterized by a gradual deterioration in kidney function due to damage to small blood vessels due to high blood glucose levels. The KIM-1 protein (known as Kidney Injury Molecule-1) is linked to kidney damage, as it is secreted from the cells of the renal tubules in response to damage, making it a potential indicator for monitoring the progress of kidney damage in people with diabetes. In this study, the KIM-1 levels were analyzed along with variables such as HBA1C, the level of cells in the blood, insulin level, and insulin resistance, using Pearson's connection coefficient. The results showed that there is a positive overwhelming connection between the KIM-1 and the levels of cake, HBA1C, and insulin resistance at the possibility of 0.000, as well as with the level of insulin at the possibility of 0.005. These results indicate that the Kim-1 may be a useful biological indicator to assess the progress of diabetic kidney disease, which calls for more research to explore its role in improving the diagnosis and control of the disease. The study aims to contribute to the development of better treatment and monitoring strategies for diabetic patients, with the aim of reducing the complications of the disease and improving the quality of health care provided to them
Optimizing ADC Values for Distinguishing Between Benign and Malignant Breast Lesions
The review was a cross-sectional survey of breast lesions in ladies from Al-Imam Al-Hussein Teaching Hospital, Nasiriyah, Iraq, directed between April 2022 and July 2023. The patients were examined with ultrasound and mammogram and went through MRI evaluations utilizing a 1.5 Tesla MR unit. The outcomes were assessed as per the American School of Radiology BI-RADS breast imaging dictionary. A sum of 38 patients were remembered for the review, with a sum of 46 injuries. All lesions went through histopathological findings, which was viewed as the best quality level for the review. The ideal cutoff value was <1.232x10-3 mm2/s, displaying a sensitivity of 100 percent, specificity of 90%, a positive predictive value (PPV) of 92%, a negative predictive value (NPV) of 100 percent, and an accuracy rate of 95.7%. The DCE-MRI exhibited a sensitivity of 96%, a specificity of 85%, a positive predictive value (PPV) of 89%, a negative predictive value (NPV) of 94%, and an accuracy rate of 91.3%. The combined examination of a contrast-enhanced DCE-MRI and diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) brought about an increment of 4% in the sensitivity and the specificity by 10 %. The addition of DWI to the standard breast MRI has a sensitivity of 100%, a specificity of 95%, a positive predictive value (PPV) of 96%, a negative predictive value (NPV) of 100%, and an accuracy rate of 97.8%. These outcomes show that DWI is an important instrument for portraying breast lesions
Evaluation of Copeptin, Osteopoietin, Renin and Some Physiological Parameters in Patients with Heart Diseases in Samarra City
The research aimed to evaluate the levels of copeptin, osteopontin, renin, lipid profile, urea, and creatinine in patients with heart disease in Samarra City. Conducted between March and September 2024, the study involved 50 male and female patients with heart diseases, including atherosclerosis, heart failure, and angina pectoris, alongside a control group of 20 healthy individuals aged 59-75. Blood samples were analyzed using ELISA and various biochemical assays. Results revealed significantly higher levels of copeptin, osteopontin, and renin in heart disease patients compared to the control group. Additionally, elevated triglycerides, urea, and creatinine levels were observed. These findings indicate a correlation between elevated hormonal and physiological parameters and heart disease progression
