    Evaluation of the Proposed Physical Characteristics of Some Health Units in Tikrit General Teaching Hospital, Iraq.

    The physical properties of the liquid waste discharged from Tikrit Teaching Hospital were studied as one of the main problems of water pollution. One of the most harmful pollutants affecting surface water is sewage that leaks from hospitals into rivers directly without treatment. Physical examinations were conducted for a period of three months (October, November, and December) during the winter of the year (2023), and physical properties such as temperature, water turbidity, electrical conductivity, total dissolved solids, and total suspended solids were measured. The results showed that all physical properties were higher than the control treatment of tap water entering the hospital and higher than the Iraqi standard criteria for drinking water

    Prevalence of Urinary Tract Infections in Male and Female: A Review

    Adults with Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) frequently get bacterial infections that impact several urinary system components. All ages and both sexes affect with this infection. This infection, usually more susceptible to women, and has a higher prevalence compared to the men. In female the close anatomical relationship between urethra and the anus, menopause, poor personal hygiene, and pregnancy, some of the risk factors contributing to this high prevalence. Enterobacteriaceae, particularly E. coli, are typically the most common uropathogens associated with this infection, accounts for 80–90% of all isolates. Thus, this study reviews the risk factors and prevalence for urinary tract infections (UTIs) in adults. Since UTIs are a common infection and the primary cause of medical expenses, it is crucial to understand the risk factors that lead to these infections because they can act as a guide for individuals

    Impact of Nurses Quality of Life to Improve the Quality of Care Provided to Patients

    This study aims to evaluate the impact of nurses' quality of life on the quality of care provided to patients in hospitals. The research method involved a questionnaire completed by 60 male and female nurses with varying levels of experience and work locations. The questionnaire included demographic information as well as questions about the nurses' daily quality of life. The results revealed variations in responses regarding factors affecting nurses' quality of life, including social, economic, and working conditions. Statistical analysis indicated that better quality of life is positively correlated with improved nurse performance in delivering healthcare to patients

    A Comparative Study of Radiation Dose in CT and MRI Imaging Techniques

    This study presents a comparative analysis of radiation dosage levels obtained through the utilisation of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT) techniques. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans do not utilise ionising radiation as they instead rely on magnetic fields and radio waves, in contrast to computed tomography (CT) scans that employ ionising radiation. The apprehensions over the potential hazards associated with radiation exposure during CT scans have raised challenges pertaining to patient care and professional well-being. The objective of this study is to conduct a comparative analysis and assessment of radiation dose levels associated with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examinations. Additionally, it seeks to investigate potential health hazards associated with radiation exposure from CT scans, analyse the factors that influence radiation dose in CT and MRI procedures, and evaluate the merits and drawbacks of MRI radiation dose.The objective of this inquiry is to comprehend the disparities in radiation exposure between CT and MRI. The study's findings will aid clinicians and patients in selecting imaging techniques by considering their benefits and potential risks in a more informed and efficient manner

    Environmental Assessment of Transport Noise in the City of Samarkand and Its Impact on the Human Body

    This article describes the results of scientific observations on one of the main problems of cities: car noise and its impact on the environment. The level of road noise at Registan Square, Siab Market on Rudaki Street, tram crossing on Rudaki Street, Medical University on Shakhrukh Mirzo Street, Mirzo Ulugbek Street in the city of Samarkand was determined in decibels and compared with the State Standard. In our country, the problem of ecology in the conditions of modern cities is becoming more acute every day, therefore, the study of the urban environment and the reduction of the impact of various man-made resources on it remains a relevant topic. In addition, noise has a negative effect on the auditory and nervous systems of the human body, in addition to increased blood pressure, dilated pupils, gastrointestinal disorders, heart rate and blood pressure, insomnia, and hearing loss. Exposure to high-frequency noise reduces labor productivity by 10-15%, causes hearing failure and deterioration of the general health of a person. Nowadays, city dwellers face the inconvenience of constant and periodic noise at any time of their daily lives: at work, in transport, during leisure and tourist trips, and even during sleep. As was emphasized, the identification of noise sources in the city of Samarkand, the development of measures for their standardization, and the creation of a map of noise sources in the city are of current importance

    The Effect of Antihypertensive Drugs on the Serum Level of Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme 2 (ACE2) in Hypertensive Patients with Severe COVID-19 Infection

    Although many studies were conducted worldwide on the effect of angiotensin converting enzyme inhibition on the morbidity and mortality of the patients with COVID-19, these studies have varied in their conclusions due to differences in populations, races, and ethnicity. This work aimed to study the effect of different antihypertensive drugs on the serum level of angiotensin-converting enzyme-2 in severely infected COVID-19 patients with hypertension. This study was conducted in Al-Nahrain University/College of Medicine/Chemistry and Biochemistry Department and Al-Mustansyria University /College of Medicine / Department of Medicine, Baghdad, Iraq. The study included 50 patients with confirmed severe COVID-19 infection: 25 COVID-19 patients with hypertension administered to the hospital, and 25 COVID-19 patients without hypertension administered to the hospital during the period from January, 2022 to September, 2022. The hypertensive patients were on angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors or angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) or Calcium-channel blockers or beta blockers prior to COVID-19 infection. The median level of angiotensin converting enzyme-2 (ACE2) in hypertensive patients was 3.22ng/ml (range 1.34-6.89 ng/ml) compared with0.89 ng/ml (range 0.22-1.35 ng/ml) in non-hypertensive group, with a highly significant difference. The study also showed a significantly higher level of serum ACE2 in patients on ACE inhibitors (median= 4.85 ng/ml, range= 3.22-6.89 ng/ml) than either of hypertensive patients taking ARBs (median= 2.56 ng/ml, range= 2.27-4.34 ng/ml) or those on Ca-channel blockers (median= 2.43 ng/ml, range= 1.34-4.39 ng/ml) with significant differences. It was also observed that patients on ARBs displayed the lowest concentration of D-dimer. This study showed that the use of antihypertensive drugs (ACE inhibitors or ARBs or Ca-channel blockers) prior to the infection with COVID-19 was not associated with the severity of disease and therefore, should not be discontinued during the course of infection

    Emergence of an Aggressive Strain of Dermatophyte Resistant to Conventional Treatments

    This study investigates the prevalence and etiology of fungal infections, emphasizing traditional diagnostic methods. A total of 154 samples from skin (75.32%), hair (15.85%), and nails (9%) were analyzed, with a consultant dermatologist’s participation at the Turkish Hospital in Nasiriya between February and November 2023. Direct examination using KOH solution revealed a high infection prevalence, with 79% positive results. Females showed a higher infection rate (43.5%) than males (27.92%), and the 11-20 age group exhibited the highest incidence, primarily with ringworm infections. The study identified Trichophyton (54.66%) as the most prevalent genus, followed by T. mentagrophytes (37.33%) and other dermatophytes. Among the five antifungal agents tested—miconazole, ketoconazole, nystatin, fluconazole, and co-trimoxazole—miconazole and nystatin showed the highest inhibition values, whereas co-trimoxazole showed significant resistance. Fungal virulence was also examined through enzyme production (protease, lipase, and keratinase), indicating active infection potential. This study highlights the critical need for effective antifungal treatments and provides insight into the diagnostic and therapeutic challenges of fungal infections in this region

    Estimation of Serum Level of Neurokinin A in Patients with Periodontitis in Association with Chronic Migraine Disease (Observational Case Control Study)

    Recently, a relationship was found between periodontitis and chronic migraine. However, there is no evidence of the association between periodontitis and Neurokinin A (NKA) level in chronic migraine patients. As a result, we aimed to measure and compare serum levels of NKA in study and control groups in order to determine whether periodontitis is associated with chronic mi-graine disease activation. Eightytwo (82) males and females above the age of 18 were recruited. Subjects were divided into four groups: 27 patients with chronic migraine and periodontitis, 27 patients with chronic migraine and clinically healthy periodontium, 20 patients systemically healthy with periodontitis and eight subjects with clinically healthy periodontium and without any systemic disease. Assessment of periodontal status was carried out for all participants. Socio demographic data and comorbidities were assessed by means of a standard questionnaire then blood samples were collected and serum concentrations were separated for NKA. The serum level of NKA were higher in the control group (38±40) and there was a significant difference between the other groups when compared to the control group (P=0.003) and there was a weak negative significant correlation between neurokinin A and clinical periodontal parameters (BOP, Cal, and PPD) between all study groups. According to the findings of this study, the control group had a higher level of serum NKA. As a result, this peptide could be considered an indicator of disease severity and activity for both periodontitis and chronic migraine diseases. So far, no research has backed up our findings. Longitudinal studies are required to validate our findings

    Research On Stability Of "Bronchotus Forte" Elixir

    In this article, quality indicators were presented for determining the stability of an elixir type of drug that usually stimulates cough and has a secretomotor effect in the treatment of inflammatory diseases of the upper respiratory tract. The recommended elixir drug was carried out in a natural way based on the temporary instruction I-42-2-82. In order to determine the stability and storage conditions of the elixir, it was studied in a natural way by keeping the finished drug in a dark place at room temperature under natural conditions (at a temperature not higher than 250 C). Analyzes were carried out every 6 months, and the following qualitative and quantitative indicators were studied during the analysis: appearance, pH environment, purity, amount of foreign substances, dry residue, alcohol strength, and the amount of bioactive substances in 1 ml of the drug were checked
