Imperative Effectiveness of Locally-Made Acids and Bases on Senior Secondary Chemistry Students’ Academic Performance in Rivers State
This study investigated the effectiveness of locally-made acids and bases on Senior Secondary Students’ academic performance in Rivers State, Nigeria. A descriptive survey design was adopted and the population comprised all public and private Senior Secondary1 chemistry students. 97 students in intact classes of selected schools formed the sample of the study. The instrument was Chemistry Performance Test. The face and content validity of the instrument was ascertained by two Science Education lecturers and one expert in Measurement and Evaluation. The reliability coefficient was calculated using the test-retest method and the value was 0.76. Mean and standard deviation was used to answer the research questions while the hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance using t-test. Findings showed that locally-made instructional materials are more effective than factory-made ones and as such could serve the same purpose in schools where the ready-made instructional materials are not insufficient or unavailable. There was a significant difference between chemistry students’ academic performance on acids and bases when taught using locally-made and factory-made instructional materials. Students taught with locally-made instructional materials obtained higher performance test scores than those taught with factory-made solutions. No gender-related significant difference was found while students’ performance differed significantly based on school type. It was recommended among others, that chemistry teachers should always improvise instructional materials whenever the materials are not available and government should organize training for teachers on how to improvise chemistry instructional materials
NON-ALCOHOLIC FATTY LIVER DISEASE AND TYPE 2 DIABETES: THE PROBLEM OF ASSOCIATION AND STAGES OF DEVELOPMENT
The wide prevalence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2), as well as their relationship, determines the need for targeted consideration of this pathology in order to optimize approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of patients with NAFLD and type 2 diabetes. Being components of the metabolic syndrome, these two diseases have largely similar mechanisms of development and progression, synergistically increasing the risk of adverse outcomes in comorbid patients. Despite the commonality of pathophysiological mechanisms, the question of the sequence of development of NAFLD and T2DM remains relevant.
Based on the results of the analysis of the literature, two main theories were identified: alimentary and metabolic. According to the alimentary theory, the primary link in the pathogenesis is obesity and the associated excessive accumulation of free fatty acids and triglycerides in the liver, which subsequently leads to insulin resistance and the development of type 2 diabetes. In contrast, the metabolic theory considers the insulin resistance associated with diabetes to be the primary blow, which, regardless of obesity, creates the prerequisites for liver damage. In addition, the review pays special attention to the consideration of a new concept - metabolically associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD), considered as a hepatic component of the metabolic syndrome. Within the framework of this concept, various clinical phenotypes of NAFLD are distinguished, which determine the path along which the diseases under consideration develop. In conclusion, the review discusses pathogenetically based therapy, which focuses on overcoming insulin resistance, correcting atherogenic dyslipidemia, and restoring the structure and function of liver cells

This research analyze the effect of slag and metal composition in electric arc furnace, and the factory data is statistically evaluated according to the degree of corrosion of refractory lining. The degree of corrosion of the lining in an electric arc furnace under the influence of special slag (basic CaO, MgO, FeO, Al2O3, SiO2) and metal components (C, Mn) were analyzed at the factory. Изучение Гетеролигандных Комплексных Соединений D-Металлами С Tиосемиамикарбазидом И Дикарбоновых Кислот
Синтезированы разнолигандные комплексные соединения Мn(II), Zn(II), Ni(II), Zn(II), Сd(II) и Co(II) хлоридные, нитратные и ацетатные соли на основе дикарбоновых кислот и тиосемикарбазидом. Состав и строение синтезированных комплексных соединений определяли методами анализа ИК-, Раман-спектроскопии. Тиосемикарбазид является бидентантом в комплексных соединениях с различными металлами, в которых он связывается с центральным атомом комплекса металла с атомом серы и гидразиновым фрагментом с атомом азота в аминогруппе. Дикарбонаты связываются с атомами кислорода в карбонильных группах путем дигидратации
Оптимальное Размещение Тонкослойных Элементов В Горизонтальном Отстойнике Очистка Питьевой Воды
Метод исследования (методы) Аннотация. Процесс осаждения имеет большое значение при очистке питьевой воды. Для повышения эффективности горизонтальных отстойников для очистки питьевой воды рекомендуется использовать тонкослойные отстойники. Экспериментальные исследования эффективности методов распределения воды в тонкослойном отстойнике проводились на модельных и полупромышленных установках. Модель отстойника была изготовлена из органического стекла в масштабе 1:12. В соответствии с масштабным коэффициентом и критерием Фруда были определены Qo, tp, Vp. Анализ результатов исследования показал, что для всех значений m наибольшее приближение Vph к Vr было достигнуто, когда верхние края пластин располагались вдоль кривой, рассчитанной с использованием метода, который рассматривает расход воды в распределительном объеме как поток переменной массы. КОИ при этом превысил 90%. Установлено, что при 3-4-кратном увеличении гидравлической нагрузки отстойника при предлагаемом способе распределения воды его KOI незначительно уменьшается (с 92-95% до 74-85%), в то время как при расположении верхних кромок пластин по наклонной или горизонтальной прямой линии KOI уменьшается с 68-83% до 15-20%. Для условий производственной эксплуатации отстойников, где в зависимости от времени суток, года и технологии производства количество питьевой воды может сильно варьироваться, это обстоятельство имеет особое значение. В результате будет повышена эффективность процесса очистки питьевой воды

Actual Issues of Design of Small Towns in Uzbekistan
In 2010, there were 120 cities of different sizes in Uzbekistan, with a population of 14,425,900,000. 88 of them were in small towns, where 1913.8 thousand people lived. According to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of March 13, 2009 № 68 "On additional measures to further improve the administrative-territorial structure of settlements of the Republic of Uzbekistan", 965 rural settlements with a population of 4434.3 thousand people were granted the status of urban settlements. Today, 32 mln. 16.5 million of the population live in cities. Since the bulk of cities are small towns, new research in urban planning is needed. Scientific project proposals on architectural and planning solutions of the central and structural parts of small towns are given
