Το χιούμορ στα κόμικς: : μια απόπειρα ταξινόμησης
Full text linkThis text discusses the most representative characteristic of comics, humor. As comics have been identified with the joke, due to the etymology of the term (from comedy), this identification, although responsible for misunderstandings that have long degraded the medium, is not entirely misplaced. Humor is one of the most basic mechanisms for producing meaning in the quiver of comics and -under certain conditions - is one of their advantages. Here, an initial codification and classification of the types of humor found in comics is attempted. After a reference to the theories of humor and a rough distinction of the kind of humor concerning the age and maturity of the recipient, cases are examined by category: satire-parody, irony, intertextuality-inter-iconicity, visual conventions, onomatopoeia, stylistic choices, design code, metaleptic devices but also purely verbal humor. Thus, it becomes clear that comic humor ranges from the simplest, most obvious, and crude to the most complex, latent, and sophisticated. Still, in any case, every reader can enjoy it through his/her perceptive abilities.This text discusses the most representative characteristic of comics, humor. Anthropology in the city: : ethnographic approaches and critical perspectives on “neighbourhood”
Full text linkΤο κείμενο συζητά τους τρόπους με τους οποίους προσεγγίζεται εννοιολογικά και μεθοδολογικά ηέννοια της «γειτονιάς» στο πλαίσιο της ανθρωπολογικής μελέτης του αστικού χώρου. Ως αναλυτικήκατηγορία, η γειτονιά αποτελεί χώρο κοινωνικής δράσης, στον οποίο τέμνονται ιστορικές αφηγήσεις,κοινωνικές δυναμικές και σχέσεις εξουσίας. Οι διεργασίες αυτές καθορίζουν τη συγκρότηση και τησυνεχή επαναδιαπραγμάτευση των ορίων της γειτονιάς, καθιστώντας εμφανή τη δυναμική, σχεσιακήκαι διαφιλονικούμενη φύση του εθνογραφικού αυτού πεδίου. Από αυτή τη σκοπιά η μελέτη τηςγειτονιάς συνιστά ένα διεπιστημονικό εγχείρημα, που συνδυάζει την εθνογραφική έρευνα μεσυμμετοχικές μεθοδολογίες και καλλιτεχνικές παρεμβάσεις, προκειμένου να φωτίσει τις σύνθετεςδιαδικασίες μέσω των οποίων συγκροτείται και μετασχηματίζεται η διαβίωση στην πόλη. Ταυτόχρονατο κείμενο λειτουργεί ως θεωρητική και εννοιολογική γέφυρα, η οποία δια-συνδέει τις πειραματικέςκαι κριτικές εθνογραφικές προσεγγίσεις των άρθρων της έκδοσης με σκοπό να προτείνει ένα πλαίσιοανάγνωσης που αξιοποιεί τη σχέση μεταξύ εθνογραφικής παρατήρησης, κριτικής θεωρίας και αστικήςεμπειρίας.This introductory paper examines the conceptual and methodological approaches to the notion ofthe “neighbourhood” within the framework of the anthropological study of urban space. As ananalytical category, the neighbourhood constitutes a site of social action where historical narratives,social dynamics, and power relations intersect. These processes shape the formation andcontinuous renegotiation of its socially and politically constructed boundaries, making evident thedynamic, relational, and contested nature of this ethnographic field. From this perspective, thestudy of the neighbourhood represents an interdisciplinary endeavour that combines ethnographicresearch with participatory methodologies and artistic interventions to illuminate the complex processes through which urban life is constituted and transformed. At the same time, the textserves as a theoretical and conceptual bridge, connecting the experimental and critical ethnographicapproaches of the articles in this issue. It proposes a reading framework that explores theinterrelations between ethnographic observation, critical theory, and urban experience

Full text linkΓυναίκες αφηγούνται την εργασία τους στον τομέα της κατασκευής ενδυμάτων. Μπορούν οιπεριγραφές τους ως μοδίστρες, κόπτριες υφασμάτων ή ως εργαζόμενες στη διαδικασία φασόν σεοικιακά εργαστήρια τελικά να περιγράψουν τροπές της εντόπιας και της παγκόσμιας οικονομίας,πολιτικές αλλαγές, αλλά και συνθήκες της κοινωνικής ζωής της πόλης στην οποία διαβιούν; Καθώς,μέσα από τις συχνά νοούμενες ως «ασήμαντες» εργασίες των εν λόγω γυναικών στην καθημερινή ζωή,οι οποίες κάποτε καταγράφονται ως άτυπη εργασία, οι εργαζόμενες στον τομέα της παραγωγήςενδυμάτων στη Θεσσαλονίκη φέρονται τελικά κατά τις αφηγήσεις τους για την εργασία, να μιλούν γιατη συνεχώς διαμορφούμενη ζωή στην πόλη, την ελπίδα, τη φροντίδα και την επιβίωση. Οι φωνέςτους που αφορούν ειδικά στη χρονική περίοδο 1950-2015 επιχειρούν να υπογραμμίσουν-καιμερικώς να νοηματοδοτήσουν, ροές της οικονομίας μέσα από το πρίσμα της υποκειμενικότητας καιτου τοπικού. Ενώ, στοχεύουν να αναδείξουν τρόπους με τους οποίους πρακτικές του εντόπιου καικαθημερινού δύνανται να φωτίσουν τις μεταμορφώσεις των κοινωνιών στις οποίες κατοικούμε.Women narrate their work in the garment manufacturing sector. Can their descriptions asseamstresses, fabric cutters, or workers in subcontracted piecework in home workshopsultimately reflect shifts in the local and global economy, political changes, and the conditions ofsocial life in the city they inhabit? Through these women’s often deemed “insignificant” dailytasks –frequently categorised as informal labour– garment production workers in Thessaloniki, inrecounting their experiences, seem to speak of the city's continuously evolving life, hope, care,and survival. Their voices, focusing specifically on the period from 1950 to 2015, attempt tohighlight –and partially give meaning to– economic flows through the lens of subjectivity andlocality. At the same time, they aim to reveal how local and everyday practices can illuminate thetransformations of the societies in which we live

Full text linkΤο άρθρο εστιάζει στην πρόσφατη ιστορία της εντός των τειχών Λευκωσίας, μιας ιδιαίτερης αστικήςπεριοχής της πρωτεύουσας της Κύπρου, που ενώ βρίσκεται στο γεωγραφικό κέντρο της ευρύτερηςΛευκωσίας και του νησιού ολόκληρου, καθορίζεται από τη μία πλευρά από τα στρογγυλά ενετικά τηςτείχη και, από την άλλη, από τη συν-οριακότητα ως αποτέλεσμα της διαχωριστικής γραμμής που τηδιαπερνά. Συγκεκριμένα, εστιάζω στην αλλαγή που ακολούθησε το άνοιγμα των σημείων διέλευσηςτης διαχωριστικής γραμμής το 2003 και είχε ως αποτέλεσμα την μετατροπή της παραμελημένης,προσφυγικής και μεταναστευτικής εντός των τειχών Λευκωσίας. Η αποκατάσταση της κυκλοφορίαςμεταξύ των δύο πλευρών, για πρώτη φορά μετά το 1974, οδήγησε στην αναβίωση της μέχρι τότεπαραμελημένης σε πολιτικό και πολιτιστικό επίπεδο περιοχής, και προσέφερε τον ενδιάμεσο χώρογια την ανάπτυξη αδιαμεσολάβητων πρακτικών που αμφισβητούσαν τα προκαθορισμένα συμβολικάκαι υλικά όρια του κυπριακού διαχωρισμού. Το άρθρο εξετάζει τις συγκρούσεις, τις διαφωνίες και τιςδιαπραγματεύσεις που αναδυθήκαν όταν νέοι δρώντες συγκεντρώθηκαν στην περιοχή διεκδικώνταςορατότητα με την παρουσία και την πολιτική και πολιτιστική δράση τους.The article focuses on the recent history of walled Nicosia, a particular urban area of the capitalof Cyprus, which, while located at the geographical centre of Greater Nicosia and the island as awhole, is defined on the one hand by its round Venetian walls and, on the other hand, by itscharacter as a border area resulting from the dividing line that runs through it. Specifically, Ifocus on the change that followed the opening of the crossing points of the dividing line in 2003and resulted in the transformation of the neglected, old city of Nicosia. The restoration ofmoving between the two sides, for the first time since 1974, led to the revival of the hithertopolitically and culturally neglected area, and provided the in-between space for the developmentof unmediated practices that challenged the predetermined symbolic and material boundaries ofCypriot separation. The article examines the conflicts, disagreements and negotiations thatemerged when new actors gathered in the region claiming visibility through their presence andthrough their political and cultural action
