The article investigates the lexicon employed by Ludovico Ariosto in the 157 letters sent from Garfagnana between 1522 and 1525 as commissary of the Este province. The letters, which have a non-literary status, are written by the poet-functionary with practical and informative purposes and are characterized by the adoption of the coeval chancery and diplomatic register, which can be measured primarily through the observation of lexical uses. The contribution thus proposes a reasoned review of a selection of words and expressions found in Garfagnana letters, distinguished into bureaucratic-administrative and political-diplomatic lexicon, juridical technicalities, military lexicon, Latin words and formulas. Finally, the study considers the weight of the expressive component, noting the presence of familiar and colloquial flavor voices and expressions, proverbial formulas, similes, expressive metaphors and lexical series.L’articolo esamina il lessico impiegato da Ludovico Ariosto nelle 157 lettere inviate dalla Garfagnana tra il 1522 e il 1525 in qualità di commissario della provincia estense.

Exploring the use of active mobility in selected rural areas of Nigeria
Recently, an increasing number of road users are turning to active transportation (AT) modes such as walking and cycling, viewing them as not the only means of mobility, but also opportunities for enhancing physical activity and improving health. However, while AT holds numerous benefits, its adoption and efficacy are influenced by complex environmental and social factors, particularly in rural areas. To investigate these dynamics, this study employed a robust research design, collecting primary data through a multi-stage sampling method. Specifically, 50% of the wards in the rural areas of Ondo State, Nigeria were randomly selected, and a total of 496 structured questionnaires were administered using a systematic sampling approach. Findings from our study revealed that majority of respondents in the rural areas were aged between 70 years and above, and mostly relied on the use of active mobility for trip making. Factors influencing the use of active travel showed distance as the most influential factor. This has a relative index of 0.993 and it is closely followed by travel time with a relative index of 0.984. this study proposed that residents in the rural areas should be sensitized on the benefits associated with active mobility, especially in relation to their health as majority are not aware of its health benefits
Langages, polyphonies et individuation chez Artaud. 1931-1933
This article aims to investigate the concept of polyphony in Antonin Artaud’s work during the early 1930s. The initial section delves into Le Théâtre et son Double, analyzing its portrayal of the collective body, its connections with the Greek model, and its significance in Artaud’s poetics. Subsequently, the paper undertakes an analysis of the scenario Il n’y a plus de firmament, chosen as a case study for several reasons. Firstly, it originates from the same period as the essays referenced (1931-1933) ; secondly, it centers around a broad community acting as the protagonist, which Artaud occasionally describes explicitly as a chorus. Lastly, as the script for a “total spectacle”, it offers insight into the role of language in forging this collective voice.
Note sull’argomentazione etimologica da Heidegger a Cacciari
The essay deals with the so-called ‘etymological argument’ and how it was first used by Heidegger and then also taken up in Italy, among others by Massimo Cacciari. By the expression ‘etymological argument’ is meant the rhetorical move whereby the etymological origin of a term already contains the essence of the meaning of the term itself, regardless of how that meaning has changed over time. The two authors of this essay examine the implications and fallacies, both logical and linguistic, that the use and abuse of this argument has produced in both philosophical and linguistic-literary analysis.
“The Sidney Psalter” and the early modern translation of Psalms
The article investigates the literary, political and religious relevance of The Sidney Psalter, the translation of the biblical Psalter initiated by Philip Sidney and completed, after his death in Flanders in 1586, by his sister Mary Sidney. From a religious point of view, the work testifies to the centrality of the Psalms in English Protestant culture and to the Sidneys’ intention to become the promoters for a more markedly reformed turn in the English church. From a literary and political point of view, on the other hand, it recounts the nationalistic desire to compete with the already existing verse translations of the Psalms – in English, in Latin and in the main European languages – in order to attest to the wide range of solutions offered by the English idiom (an issue already at the centre of national culture since the time of Henry VII and crucial in English Petrarchism in all its phases). The aim was in fact to offer the most refined and rich poetic translation of the Psalms that had ever appeared in the English language. Nor should we forget the role that the translation of the Psalms played in the defence of poesy from Puritan hostility to which Philip Sidney would dedicate himself with his treatise The Defense of Poesy, which uses the biblical Psalter as incontrovertible proof of the divine legitimacy of poetry
