Time-resolved photoemission electron microscopy on a ZnO surface using an extreme ultraviolet attosecond pulse pair
No full textElectrons photoemitted by extreme ultraviolet attosecond pulses derive spatially from the first few atomic surface layers and energetically from the valence band and highest atomic orbitals. As a result, it is possible to probe the emission dynamics from a narrow 2D region in the presence of optical fields, as well as obtain elemental specific information. However, combining this with spatially-resolved imaging is a long-standing challenge because of the large inherent spectral width of attosecond pulses, as well as the difficulty of making them at high repetition rates. Here, it demonstrates an attosecond interferometry experiment on a zinc oxide (ZnO) surface using spatially and energetically resolved photoelectrons. It combines photoemission electron microscopy with near-infrared pump - extreme ultraviolet probe laser spectroscopy and resolve the instantaneous phase of an infrared field with high spatial resolution. The results show how the core level states with low binding energy of ZnO are well suited to perform spatially resolved attosecond interferometry experiments. It observes a distinct phase shift of the attosecond beat signal across the laser focus that it attributes to wavefront differences between the pump and the probe fields at the surface. This work demonstrates a clear pathway for attosecond interferometry with high spatial resolution at atomic scale surface regions opening up for a detailed understanding of nanometric light-matter interaction

Development and evaluation of a school-based physical literacy intervention for children in Germany: protocol of the PLACE study
Get PDFIntroduction: Fueled by the COVID-19 pandemic, the physical activity behavior of children has reached a concerning level nowadays. By empowering individuals to be physically active throughout the life course, the concept of physical literacy has recently gained increasing attention and adopts a holistic-integrative perspective on PA promotion. Although the field has successively attempted to translate the
conceptual ideas of physical literacy into interventions, the theoretical base is heterogeneous and is often lacking within interventions. Furthermore, several countries, including Germany, have not equally adopted the concept yet.
Therefore, the goal of the present study protocol is to describe the development and evaluation approach of a PL intervention (“PLACE”) for children in grades three and four within the German all-day schooling system. Methods: The physical literacy intervention cultivates explicit theory-content links and comprises 12 heterogeneous sessions (each 60-90 min in length). The study contains three different phases with two initial pilot studies and a subsequent main
study. The two pilot studies take a mixed-methods character by drawing on quantitative pre-post-designs as well as interviews with children (in groups). In the main study, we will longitudinally compare the course of PL values (five
outcome domains: physical, affective, cognitive, social, behavioral) between two study arms: school classes of children are either assigned to an intervention condition (regular physical education and health care plus PL intervention) or to a control condition (regular physical education and health care only). Discussion: The findings of this study will provide evidence on how to structure a
multicomponent intervention in Germany based on the PL concept. In summary, the results will report on the effectiveness of the intervention and, therefore, decide whether to scale-up the intervention

No full textIn a globalized world, buying firms increasingly face criticism regarding sustainability-related transgressions in their supply chains, yet scholarship concerning whether such negative press has any bottom-line effects has only just begun emerging. This study develops and tests theory on the relationship between reported supplier sustainability incidents and the associated stock price impact for the buying firm. An event study comprising 1699 events related to 374 buying firms supports our hypothesis that media coverage of environmental, social, or governance-related transgressions in the supply chain results in decreased market capitalization for the buying firm. A subsequent regression analysis indicates that the influence potential of information intermediaries, the country-level sustainability risk of the supplier, and the industry-level sustainability risk of the buying firm all affect the magnitude of the investors' reaction. Conversely, the severity of the incident does not predict the magnitude of the stock price reaction

No full textIm Beitrag wird erörtert, wie schulische Transitionsprozesse von der Primar- in die Sekundarstufe in bildungsbiografischen Interviews aus Sicht von Absolvent*innen niedersächsischer Oberschulen rekonstruiert werden. Die retrospektiven Betrachtungen werden insbesondere in Bezug auf Erfahrungen mit (ungleich verteilten) elterlichen Ressourcen und primarpädagogischem Handeln im Bildungs- und Entscheidungsprozess analysiert. Unsere bildungsbiografische Rekonstruktion des Grundschulübergangs knüpft an Forschungen an, die eine empirische Rekonstruktion der zum Zeitpunkt der Transition unmittelbaren sozialen Praxen und Erfahrungen vorlegen. Ergänzend dazu analysiert unsere Untersuchung der narrativen Retrospektion zu Übergängen die thematisierten Phänomene, nachdem die Sekundarstufe I erfolgreich im Format der niedersächsischen Oberschule abgeschlossen wurde. No full textInstead of an editorial introduction, we editors would like to introduce this first volume on the one hundredth anniversary of Low German philology in Rostock with an overview of the history of the subject. The developments in Rostock are the starting point and constant reference point of our overview, whereby the Mecklenburgisches Wörterbuch (Mecklenburg dictionary) and the dialect lexicography in retrospect prove to be a constant in Rostock's research and subject history and accordingly run through the following sketch as a red thread. From Rostock, however, the view is repeatedly expanded to include conditions and developments at other locations in the Low German academic landscape. The time span we are considering ranges from the earliest precursors of Low German philology in the second half of the 16th century to essential developments in the recent present
