    A PRELIMINARY STUDY ON DISINFECTION AND IN VITRO PROPAGATION OF CELOSIA TRIGYNA LINN.

    Celosia trigyna is an underutilized indigenous vegetable in Nigeria with numerous medicinal uses. Information is sparse on any attempt to conserve it. In other to conserve it through in vitro propagation, a disinfection protocol was developed using Clorox (NaClO) and Mancozeb (C8H12MnN4S8Zn) (Treatment T1 to T9) and a preliminary investigation testing its responsiveness in vitro. Nodal explants of Celosia trigyna were collected from the mother plants at Obafemi Awolowo University Estate, Ile – Ife (Latitude 7⁰32’N and Longitude 4⁰31’E). The nodal explants of C. trigyna were cultured on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with various levels of plant growth regulators (PGRs). The clean cultures obtained were monitored for degree of callus formation, morphology of callus, shoot and root regeneration. Treatment T6 (5% v/v Clorox for 9 minutes and 1% w/v mancozeb for 5 minutes) was best for disinfecting nodal explants of C. trigyna resulting into 81.47 ± 2.14a % aseptic cultures. Nodal explants cultured on MS with 0.5mg/L 2, 4 –D produced callus. This study established that using 5% v/v Clorox for 9 minutes followed by 1% w/v mancozeb for 5 minutes is effective for producing clean cultures of nodal explants and that C. trigyna can be propagated in vitro

Existing approaches often reply on simplistic keyword-based filters or rule-based methods, struggling to keep pace with the dynamic nature of cyberbullying scenarios. The intricate and varied nature of online harassment demands a more sophisticated system capable of discerning subtle nuances within social media interactions. Recognizing this gap, the proposed BullyNet system introduces a character-level convolutional neural network (CNN) approach to enhance the accuracy and adaptability of cyberbullying detection. By incorporating both word-based and character-based models, BullyNet aims to provide a holistic understanding of language expression and contextual cues, offering a nuanced solution to the complex challenges posed by cyberbullying. This system's multifaceted approach, encompassing preprocessing, training, and evaluation of CNN models, is designed to address the shortcomings of existing systems and contribute to the creation of a safer online environment.     Plasmid Profiles of Resistant Strains of Escherichia coli in Men Attending Prostate Clinics in a Tertiary Hospital in Enugu State, Nigeria

    Multi-drug resistant Escherichia coli has become a major threat and cause of many urinary tract infections (UTI) in Enugu, Nigeria. The study was carried out to determine the resistant plasmids of multidrug resistant Escherichia coli isolated from men attending prostate clinics at 82 division Hospital, Enugu. A total of 50 urine samples were collected from patients attending prostate clinic at 82 division Hospital, Enugu, presenting UTI: with their biodata. The samples were inoculated on Eosin methylene blue agar and characterized by general microbiological standard. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing was performed using Kirby-bauer disk diffusion method on     Mueller-hinton agar. Multi drug resistant isolates were selected for plasmid profiling. Plasmids were extracted by the alkaline lysis method, electrophoresed on 0.8% agarose gel and profiled using a gel-photo documentation system gel. Escherichia coli were isolated at 72%. E. coli isolate showed high resistance to most of the test agents. E.coli strains were observed to resistant to more than nine antibiotics. The resistant plasmid DNA were detectable in all of the 11 multi drug resistant Escherichiacoli having single sized plasmids of the same weight 18kbp. 6 strains (lanes 6,7,8,9,10 and 11) had multiple sized plasmids at 9,8,8,8 and 9kbp respectively. They were all resistant to amoxycillin, ciproflox, nalidixic acid, reflaxine, pafloxacin and chloramphenicol. The study has highlighted the emergence of multidrug resistant plasmid among E.coli causing urinary tract infections in Enugu, Nigeria.     Trusted Net: A Lightweight Cluster-Based Trust Sensing System for IoT Networks

    Abstract— The Internet of Things is founded on the premise that objects in the human living environment can be connected to the Internet. Adoption of the Internet of Things cannot be permitted until security issues are addressed. Security solutions for the Internet of Things can be built on unique designs such as partitioning a mobile network into clusters managed by a cluster head, often known as clustering. However, without any security considerations, the clustering process is vulnerable to a variety of security-related internal attacks. A trust management system, which has proven its security efficiency and friability in mobile networks, might be used to defend the IoT against rogue nodes within it. In this research, we provide a trust-based clustering technique for the Internet of Things. Trust Sensing has played an important part in dealing with security concerns. A novel Light Weight Clustered Trust Sensing (LWCTS) Mechanism has been created with the primary goal of reducing The amount of energy that IoT nodes use. The LWCTS first clusters the network and chooses highly resourced Cluster Heads. Additionally, two components are considered in the proposed trust model: the mobility component for trust sensing and the interactive trust factor.     Water Quality Assessment and Health Implications: A Study of Kano Metropolis, Nigeria

    This study presents a water quality analysis aiming to understand their relationship with prevalent health problems reported in Kano metropolis. The study collected ten water samples from each eight distinct areas within Kano State, Nigeria. pH levels ranged from 6.50 to 7.20, falling within the permissible range recommended by the WHO. The highest turbidity was 51.66NTU. Hardness ranged from 158.6 to 297.7 mg/L, falling within the limit. Alkalinity levels surpassed the standard in most areas, while TDS fell below the standard. Cadmium concentrations ranged from 0.04 mg/L to 0.162 mg/L, with both values exceeding the WHO limit. Nickel levels ranged from 0.369 mg/L to 1.288 mg/L, surpassing the WHO recommendation of 0.2 mg/L. Lead concentrations reached alarming levels, exceeding the recommended value of 1.00 mg/L, with Municipal and Fagge recording concentrations of 3.7882 mg/L and 3.5627 mg/L respectively. Chromium concentrations varied from 0.82 mg/L to 4.4 mg/L, all surpassing the WHO limit. In Tarauni Arsenic concentration was 0.01 mg/L aligning with the standard, however, in other areas, it surpassed. Iron concentrations ranged from 0.2 mg/L to 1.31 mg/L. Zinc concentrations exceeded WHO limits in all areas, ranging from 3.08 mg/L in Ungogo to 4.4 mg/L in Fagge. We compare the reported devastating diseases with our findings and suggest that the emerging health hazards in Kano State, including gastrointestinal illnesses, chronic kidney disease, and cardiovascular diseases, are associated with poor water quality
