Shelf Life of Nori from Gracilaria sp. with Polypropylene (PP) Packaging Based on the Accelerated Shelf Life Test Method
This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Fisheries Products Processing, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Padjadjaran University, Jatinangor, West Java, Indonesia. The purpose of this research was to determine the shelf life of Nori from Gracilaria sp. with the Accelerated Shelf Life Test (ASLT) method Arrhenius Model using Polypropylene (PP) packaging. Gracilaria is a genus of red algae (Rhodophyta) used as a food for humans and various species of shellfish. Polypropylene (PP) is a shiny, clear plastic with good optical properties and tensile resistance. The determination of the shelf life of the ASLT method is carried out using parameters of environmental conditions that can accelerate the process of product quality degradation, namely by storing the product at several temperatures above normal storage temperature. The observations used in determining the shelf life of Gracilaria sp. using a sensory test and a water content test with storage for 35 days, at a temperature of 25°C and 35°C. The calculation results of the Arrhenius model used texture parameters as critical parameters because those had the lowest Activation Energy (Ea) in determining the shelf life of Gracilaria sp. which is packaged using PP plastic. The results showed the value used for determining the shelf life of nori Gracilaria sp. namely texture parameters based on the order 0 reaction with the Arrhenius plot Ln K = -2.0381 - 214.63 (1 / T) and Ea of 1784.6485. The shelf life of nori Gracilaria sp. was found to be elongated if stored at room temperature of (25°C) which was around 94 days
Selectivity of Fishing Gear for Scomberomorus guttatus (Bloch & Schneider, 1801) Commodities in Pangandaran Fishing Ground, West Java
Scomberomorus guttatus is a large pelagic fish commodity in Pangandaran Regency. It has the highest amount and production values, therefore it needs to be maximally utilized but remains its sustainability. The purpose of this research is to determine the most selective fishing gear for Scomberomorus guttatus commodities based on the frequency of Scomberomorus guttatus length, the proportion of the main catch and by-catch in Pangandaran Regency for sustainable and environmentally friendly capture fisheries management. The data used in this study are the number of catches, catch weight and length of the Scomberomorus guttatus catches from gillnet, longline, and beach seine. Data used in research collected during November 2018-January 2019 in Pangandaran Regency. Analysis data used in the study is the analysis of the selectivity of the types of catches and the selectivity of the length of the catchable Scomberomorus guttatus from each of fishing gears. The results showed that of the three fishing gears used to catch Scomberomorus guttatus, gillnet is the most selective and productive fishing gear for utilizing Scomberomorus guttatus commodity because it has a 43,2% of main catch, 84,6% of the feasible Scomberomorus guttatus size. Longline is a fishing gear that is only selective to the length size of the Scomberomorus guttatus that has a percentage of decent size catch equal to 86,4%, while beach seine isn\u27t selective fishing gear and unproductive for Scomberomorus guttatus commodities due to it designed to catch a demersal fish
Distribution of Heavy Metal Lead (Pb) in Water and Plankton on Floating Net Cage Area with Different Density at Cirata Reservoir, West Java
Cirata Reservoir mostly functions as a Hydroelectric Power Plant (PLTA) and the location of fish farming with the floating cage system (KJA). Utilization of reservoirs for fish culture in Cirata Reservoir has exceeded the capacity determined by the government. This causes changes in water quality in the waters of the Cirata Reservoir and affects the concentration of heavy metal lead in the waters. The purpose of this study was to determine the distribution of heavy metal lead (Pb) that exist in the KJA with different densities in the Cirata Reservoir. This research was conducted on 3 November-8 December 2019 at Cirata Reservoir with sampling stations in Jangari, Maleber and Patokbeusi. The method used in this research is purposive sampling. The results of the physical-chemical parameter research show that the water temperature at the three stations ranges from 31.9oC-34.5oC, air temperature 27oC-32oC, transparency 53.5-76 cm, pH 6.87-7.67, CO2 8,4-16.8 mg/L, BOD 1.1-20.5 mg/L and DO 5.83-9.72 mg/L. The results of Pb measurements in water ranges from 0,001 to 0,029 mg/L. Pb measurements in plankton ranges from 0.001 to 0.039 mg/L. Pb bioconcentration factor values range from 1.27 - 2.40. These results indicate that aquatic organisms in the Cirata Reservoir can accumulate metals in their bodies
Analysis of Shark Fisheries Typology in TPI Pangandaran, Pangandaran Regency, Indonesia
Knowledge of the shark fisheries typology for manager or related stakeholder is a supporting factor for the success of the basic fisheries management program, especially shark fisheries. This study aims to analyze the technical, social and cultural typology of shark fisheries in TPI Pangandaran, Pangandaran Regency. This research was conducted using the case study method and the method of sampling (purposive sampling) and the data were analyzed descriptively qualitatively and quantitatively, the qualitative method is carried out by interpreting data, facts and information that have been collected through an understanding that is built based on empirical experience, quantitative method is done by using a measurement scale, measurement scale based on data obtained from the questionnaire. The benefits of the results of this study are expected to be input for managers and related stakeholders in formulating policies for the development of fisheries activities, especially shark fisheries so that shark fisheries in Indonesia can be sustainable. The results showed that the commercial status of fishermen is the main occupation, including labor fishermen, the average fisherman goes to sea in a day. In general, fishermen are aged between 44-54 years with primary education level with 10-20 years of work experience. Catching sharks is carried out using a 3 GT motorized boat, with trips (years) of 210 times on the 3 GT vessel size and the type of fishing gear used is Gill net. The shark catching areas were obtained from Pangandaran Beach, Pananjung Bay, Nusakambangan Waters and Cilacap waters. There are two types of sharks that are landed in TPI Pangandaran namely Lonjor Sharks (Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos) and Martil Sharks (Sphyrnalewini). The largest production output in 2019 is 5887 kg. The results of the feasibility analysis of shark fishery business in TPI Pangandaran are with a profit value of Rp. 10.200.000 and the value of the Benefit Cost Ratio (BCR) which is 1.2 means that the business is feasible and sustainable
Effect of Fermented Lamtoro Leaf (Leucaena leucocephala) Meal on Growth Rate of Giant Gourami Fingerlings (Osphronemus gouramy)
This research aims to determine the percentage of the addition of fermented lamtoro leaf on fish growth rate of gourami fingerlings. The test fish used was gourami that amounted to 320 tails with a length of 4-6 cm from Farming Development Gurame and Nilem – Singaparna, Tasikmalaya. The container used in this research was an aquarium with a total of 16 pieces with a size of 40 × 30 × 30 cm3. The density of gourami fingerlings during the research was 20 fish-tails/aquarium with long maintenance of 40 days. The feed given is 5% of the fish body biomass. The research was conducted on 8 November 2019 until 14 February 2020 at the Fisheries Laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran, Indonesia. This research used experimental method with Completely Random Design (CRD), which consists of four treatments and four times the repeated feeding of commercial feed (control), the leaf meal of lamtoro fermentation result 10%, 15%, and 20%. Based on the results of the research, fermentation of lamtoro leaves can improve nutrient content after fermentation, seen from the presence of increased protein content from 21.88% to 26.11% and decrease in crude fiber content from 46.33% to 20.85%. The addition of lamtoro leaf meal fermentation results up to 15% in commercial feed resulting in a daily growth rate of 1.90%, feed conversion ratio of 2.05 and the survival rate of 70%
Analysis of Added Value of Catfish Raw Leather Cracker Product (Case Study at CV. Raja Patin, Sugiharjo Village, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra Province)
This study aims to analyze the added value of the catfish skin cracker product in CV. Raja Patin, Sugiharjo Village, North Sumatra Province. The method used in this research is a case study method and quantitative descriptive analysis as data analysis used. The sampling technique was carried out using a purposive sampling method. The added value of the fish skin cracker product is IDR 31,700 / kg with an added value ratio of 67.44%. Fish products that are processed into fish crackers are worth 0.47 times the price of fresh fish. This indicates that processing activities provide a sizeable contribution to economic value added and product added value
Fish Diversity and Abundance Using Statistical Modelling in Hadejia-Nguru Wetlands (HNWs), Nigeria: An Adaptive Environmental Assessment
Fisheries and aquaculture plays a significant role in the Nigerian economy by providing employment, diversifying livelihoods, providing animal nutrition, and earning returns on foreign exchange. Fish is an important economic factor for many nations, as serves as a staple diet in many countries. As evident, in many developed nations, fishing is a crucial source of livelihood, particularly for low-income families in rural areas, where it offer local jobs in many communities and is a key source of food for millions. Over the past few decades, fish populations have deteriorated dramatically, and species at risk have experienced growing environmental challenges. Dams, overfishing, pollution, erosion, soil loss and other human activities are main threats to fisheries ecology. The presents study aimed to analyze the decline in diversity of the fish, adaptive management of artisanal fishermen in the wetlands of Hadejia-Nguru, Guri local government area of Jigawa State and to explore the correlation of environmental factors for the decline in fish diversity. In this study the data were collected through questionnaire interview (QI), focus group conversation (FGD), and field data collection (FDC), and the test objectives were accomplished via the analysis workflow. Geostatistical software was used to analyze the information obtained from QI, FGD and other sources while other auxiliary data and field data were collected using GPS receiver. The research findings can be considered as a tools for decision-making, policy-making, management plan development, fish conservation strategies plan and ultimately help to achieve the UN\u27s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1, 2, 8, 14 and 15 of the 2030 agenda
Addition of Nilem Fish Protein Concentrate to Find Its Preferred Level in Cakwe
Nilem fish (Osteochilus hasselti) are native Indonesian fish that live in freshwaters, such as rivers and swamps. This research aims to determine the right level of nilem fish protein concentrate addition to the preferred level of cakwe. The design is using a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD), with four levels of treatment like 0% or without the addition of nilem fish protein concentrate, 2.5% addition of nilem fish protein concentrate, 5% addition of nilem fish protein concentrate, and 7.5% addition of nilem fish protein concentrate. The parameters tested are organoleptic showing color, aroma, texture, and taste carried out by 20 semi-trained panelists. The results showed that cakwe with 5% nilem fish protein concentrate is mostly preferred by consumers with organoleptic values (color 6.9, aroma 7.3, texture 6.5, and taste 7.3). 
Effect of Adding Fermented Restaurant Waste Meal with Different Concentration to Physical Quality of Fish Pellet
This study aims to evaluate the physical quality of fish feed pellets formulated with different concentration of fermented restaurant waste meal (FRWM). The treatments given consisted of treatment A (control, without adding FRWM), treatment B (adding FRWM 10%), treatment C (adding FRWM 20%), treatment D (adding FRWM 30%) and treatment E (adding FRWM 40%). The study was conducted from July to October 2019 at the Aquaculture Laboratory and Hatchery in Ciparanje of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran. The parameters observed include the breaking rate test, sinking rate test, durability test, and stability test. Results showed that the use of FRWM given significant difference (p<0.05) for breaking rate and stability value. However, result showed that the sinking rate and durability value generally did not show significant difference (p>0.05). The FRWM can be used up to a concentration of 30% which gives effect to the sinking rate of the fish pellet which is similar to the control fish pellet namely 0.38 cm/s while the concentration of the meal of the FRWM gives the closest value of breaking rate and stability control as much as treatment B (adding FRWM 10%) with a break rate for 19.93 hours and stability in water for 10 minutes by 91.66%, 30 minutes by 87.60%, and for 60 minutes by 75.26%. The different adding concerntration of FRWM gives effect to the quality of fish pellet while more than 10% can decrease its quality. The difference were show in all treatment in some parameters observed
Utilization of Aquatic Plants as Phytoremediation Agents of Tofu Liquid Waste
The tofu industry produces a lot of tofu liquid waste and has the potential to cause waters to be toxic and dangerous for the life of the biota aquatic. This research uses a phytoremediation method using floating water plants. The purpose of this research was to obtain water plants that have better absorption ability as phytoremediation agents for tofu liquid waste between Lemna and Kiapu aquatic plants. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Aquatic Resources, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Padjadjaran University from March to September 2019. The method used in this research was an experimental method with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of three treatments and five replications. Tofu liquid waste samples were obtained from the Tofu Factory in the Cibuntu Tofu Industry Center. Physical and chemical parameters observed include temperature, acidity, dissolved oxygen, BOD5, nitrate, and phosphate. The results showed that the Kiapu had better nitrate and phosphate absorption ability than Lemna and the combination treatments for 15 days of observation. The result showed that the decrease in nitrate concentration was 10.12-62.24% and the decrease in phosphate concentration was 6.67-54.23%. Kiapu can be recommended as phytoremediation agents for tofu liquid waste to remediate high organic matter before being discharged directly into water bodies
