The Effect of Additional Cayenne (Ananas comosus [L]. Merr) Solution on the Prefferencelevel Red Tilapia Shredded
This research aims to determine the right concentration of cayenne solutionso the red tilapia product most liked. The method used in this study was experimental. The research consisted of 4 treatments and 20 panelists as replicates. The treatments were addition of pineapple fruit extract solution as much as 0% (control), 10%, 20%, and 30% of the total weight of the fish meat filet and the soaking process for each treatment for 30 minutes.Based on the calculation of the value of the criteria in the form of color, aroma, taste, and texture obtained, the most important is the taste that determines the final decision of the panelists in choosing the processed product of shredded fish meat with a weight value of 0.46.Based on the parameters of preference, the product of red tilapia shredded with 20% pineapple solution was the best treatment and the most preferred by the panelists, with organoleptic values: color 6.5; fragrance 6.3; taste 7.2; and texture 6.0. The results of the proximate test of red tilapia with the addition of a 20% pineapple solution in the soaking process for 30 minutes was the most preferred treatment by the panelists. The results were 6.2% water content, 30.18% protein, 17.72% fat and carbohydrates 41.97%
Analysis of the Competitiveness of Pond Cultivation Fisheries Production in West Java Province
This study aims to analyze the competitiveness of aquaculture production in West Java Province. The research was carried out from August 2020 – September 2021. The method used was a literature study to determine the competitiveness of aquaculture in 27 districts/cities in West Java Province. After processing the data, the data will be analyzed descriptively. Primary data in the form of expert judgment consisting of 20 people regarding the proportion of competitiveness of aquaculture. Secondary data in statistical data on Pond Cultivation Fisheries 2004 – 2019 Department of Marine and Fisheries of West Java Province. The results of this study indicate that the competitiveness profile of aquaculture in 2019 in West Java Province with the first rank of very high competitiveness is occupied by Indramayu Regency, the second rank of very high competitiveness is occupied by Subang Regency, and Karawang Regency occupies the third rank of very high competitiveness
The Selectivity of Purse Seine Againt Euthynnus affinis Catch in PPN Muara Angke Jakarta
Purse seine is one of the fishing gear that has been used by PPN Muara Angke fisher to catch pelagis fish. The selectivity of purse seine was still being researched until now . This research was conducted determine the selectivity of purse seine fishing gear with parameter the length of Euthynnus affinis, weight and numbers catch on purse seine fishing gear landed in PPN Muara Angke. The research used a survey method with quantitative descriptive analysis. The sampling method used in this was purposive sampling and random sampling. The data collected during the research were primary data and secondary data. Primary data included the number and weight of catches, fork length of Euthynnus affinis from five purse seine fishing vessel in PPN Muara Angke. Secondary data included production data of purse seine catches from 2015-2019 and vessel data obtained from Central Port Management Unit Jakarta and PPN Muara Angke. Purposive sampling used for the number of catch, weight of catch, production of purse seine catch from 2015-2019 and purse seine fishing vessels data. Random sampling used for fork length Euthynnus affinis fish, 250 samples were taken randomly on one purse seine fishing vessel. The research results pusre seine fishing gear which was landed at PPN Muara Angke was not selective due to the percentage length of the Euthynnus affinis was worth, proportion of amount and weight less than 60%
Spatial and Monthly Changes in Interstitial Water Physico-Chemistry of Bodo Creek
Water plays a key role in the survival, growth and reproduction of aquatic organisms. Therefore maintaining good quality of water physico-chemical parameters would ensure optimum productivity of aquatic fauna. The study evaluated water physical and chemical parameters (temperature, hydrogen ion concentration (pH), conductivity, dissolved oxygen (DO) and biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) of Bodo Creek. Sample was collected for 5 months (July 2020 – November 2020) at locations previously studied (before-spill baseline studies, 3 years, 5 years, and 7 years after-spill); by using the sampling methods used in previous studies. Spatially, there was no statistically significant difference in temperature (p > 0.05 = 0.997), pH (p > 0.05 = 0.496), DO (p > 0.05= 0.34) and BOD (p > 0.05 = 0.644). However, the difference in conductivity between the stations was statistically significant (p < 0.05 = 0.006). On monthly basis, there was a significant difference in temperature (p < 0.05 = 0.000) and pH (p < 0.05 = 0.005). In contrast, there was no statistically significant difference in conductivity (p > 0.05 = 0.633), DO (p > 0.05 = 0.559) and BOD (p > 0.05 = 0.75). Most of the physico-chemical parameters were not within the WHO recommended levels for the survival of aquatic lives, indicating a high level of environmental pollution in Bodo Creek. This study provides dataset for future evaluation of the water physico-chemistry of Bodo Creek
Analysis of Competitiveness Fisheries Processing Industry in Indonesia
The fisheries sector is an important sector for the people of Indonesia and can be used as a prime mover for the national economy. Indonesia is a country that has a fairly high level of fish production every year, that Indonesia provides a large supply of fish for foreign countries. This study aims to analyze the competitiveness of the provincial fisheries processing industry in Indonesia. The study was conducted in February – June 2021. The method used was a literature survey to determine the competitiveness of the fisheries processing industry in 34 provinces in Indonesia. After all the data is processed, the data will be analyzed descriptively. Primary data are expert judgments consisting of 11 people regarding the proportion of competitiveness of the fishery processing industry. Secondary data in the form of statistical data on the Indonesian Fisheries Processing Industry in 2010-2017 Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. The results showed that the competitiveness profile of the fishery processing industry in 2017 in Indonesia with the first rank of very high competitiveness was occupied by the Province of East Java because it excels in production, infrastructure, and Science and Technology the second rank is very high competitiveness. occupied by DKI Jakarta Province because it excels in production and science and technology, the third rank of very high competitiveness is occupied by Central Java Province because it excels in production and infrastructure
Factors Influencing the Lipid Content and Fatty Acids Composition of Freshwater Fish: A Review
Fish farming has a long tradition in Central Europe. Aquaculture is highly developed here and even so, freshwater fish meat consumption is still very low. Freshwater fish meat is an important source of n–3 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), principally eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) which have an indisputable effect on human health and prevent the genesis of human coronary disease. Previous researches revealed many aspects affecting the PUFA quantity. In general, the fatty acid composition of fish lipids affects age, seasonal change, nutrition, sex, reproductive cycle, geographical location, etc. This review represents a step towards the characterization of the fatty acid composition of economically important freshwater fish species from different points of view, including the above-mentioned factors and taking into consideration the way of stunning and differences of lipid composition in individual fish body sections
Food and Feeding Habits, Length-Weight Relationship and Condition Factor of Fresh Water Fish Mystus armatus
The present study describes the food and feeding habits, Length- weight relationship and condition factor in Cat fish Mystus armatus. Food contents was measured by frequency of occurrence method. Length-weight relation was measured by correlation regression equation method LogW=aLb. The length weight relationship indicates that relationship between length-weight is allometric growth having high values of b withR2> 0.56 with CI of 95%. The values of condition factor varies from 0.70 to 0.88. The present study is useful to study conservation and sustainable fisheries management. It was concluded that Mystus armatus is carnivorous feeder, length weight relationship is significant, and fish is in poor condition due to various conditions of water
Food Habits Study of Cultured Nilem Fish (Osteochilus hasselti C.V.) on Minapaddy at Agriculture Area of Talagasari Village, Kadungora District, Garut Regency and Indonesia
This research was conducted in May 2018 until September 2018, aimed at analyzing the eating habits of nilem fish which are kept in the waters of CV Agri Insan Mandiri, Tegalsari Village, Kadungora District, Garut Regency, West Java. The research method used was purposive sampling for sampling water quality and plankton abundance, as well as simple random sampling method for sampling nilem fish as a data source for eating habits. Data on mineral content in dissolved soil and minerals in the waters is used as supporting data that determines the presence of natural feed. Based on the results of this research, it was found that in the Minapaddy waters found 7 phyla including Bacillariophyta, Euglenophyta, Chlorophyta, Cyanophyta, Ochrophyta, Cryptophyta and Rodophyta. Bacillariophyta and Euglenophyta are the most common phyla. Natural feeds favored by nilem fish come from Bacillariophyta with a total of 10 genera, while those that are not favored come from Euglenophyta with 2 genus. The composition of dissolved minerals Calcium (Ca), Potassium (K), Iron (Fe) and Silica (Si) exceeds the normal requirements for phytoplankton, especially Bacillariophyta, so that the abundance of plankton is comparable to Euglenophyta which is not utilized by nilem
Distribution of Blacktip Reef Sharks (Carcharinus melanopterus) Based on Habitat Characteristics by the Baited Remote Underwater Video (BRUV) Method in Morotai Waters of North Maluku
Morotai has abundant marine biological resources, sharks being one of them. The blacktip reef shark is one of the dominant types of coral reef sharks in Morotai waters. Worldwide shark are threatened due to the demand for shark fins and over fishing, to protect sharks is important to know their distribution so protected areas can be established. This research aims to examine the distribution of blacktip reef sharks (Carcharhinus melanopterus) based on habitat characteristics in the Morotai Waters. Through surveys and observation of coral cover, using the Line Intercept Transect (PIT) method and the Baited Remote Underwater Video (BRUV) to record the blacktip reef sharks who passed by the coral reef. Water quality parameters measured include temperature, salinity, visibility, acidity, current type, tides, and moon phases. Blacktip reef sharks were found in three of the four research stations. Station 4 was the one with the most blacktip reef shark appearances, amounting to 91 individuals. This station has the lowest sloping contour and has the smallest live coral cover of only 1%. Station 4 is dominated by sand covering 40%. All water quality parameters influence blacktip reef shark occurrence. The highest appearance of the blacktip reef shark happens during the new moon phase, when the tides are loose and the currents are quite strong
Mangrove Ecosystem Connectivity Based on Oceanographic System in Biawak Island, West Java, Indonesia
This research aims to determine the ecosystems connectivity by observing the distribution of inter-island mangrove propagules in the territorial waters of Biawak Island. The data used are wind, tidal, and bathymetry of 2018. They are modeled according to the propagules’ weight and the particle trajectory module. The results showed that the entire propagules (Rhizopora sp, Sonneratia sp, and Brugueira sp) dominantly moved to the west and southeast. They are carried by the currents that are influenced by the west and east monsoon. The propagules of Rhizopora sp moves from east to southeast, Sonneratia sp moves from east to south, and propagules Brugueira sp moves from west to north. In addition to oceanographic factors, other parameters that can influence the pattern of propagules movement is the propagule’s mass; the lighter it is, the easier it is to be carried away
