Effect of Packaging Types on Quality of Red Tilapia Shredded Added by Cayenne Pineapple (Ananas comosus (L) Merr) Fruit Solution
The purpose of this research is to determine the right type of packaging for organoleptic quality and analysis of the peroxide value of red tilapia. This research uses an experimental method consisting of 3 types of packaging, namely (Aluminum Foil), (Plastic High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), Plastic Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) using 20 panelists as replication. The parameters observed in this research are organoleptic characteristics (appearance, texture, aroma, and taste) based on the panelists preference level using hedonic test, chemical analysis (peroxide number test) and storage for 28 days in an incubator with a temperature of 25ºC and 45ºC for each treatment. The chemical test results were analyzed descriptively while the organoleptic test results were analyzed using the Friedman test. Based on the Friedman test, it was found that HDPE plastic packaging with the addition of a solution of pineapple cayenne was the preferred treatment for panelists compared to other treatments. Based on the Bayes test, taste is the most important criterion compared to appearance, texture, and aroma. The results of the peroxide value analysis for each type of packaging treatment during 28 days of storage at a temperature of 25°C showed results with a peroxide value of 0 meq/kg and 45°C showed results with a peroxide value of 0 meq/kg per week
The Effect of Difference Culture Media Maggot Black Soldier Fly Hermetia illucens (Linnaeus, 1758) (Diptera: Stratiomyidae) on the Growth of Striped Catfish Seeds Pangasianodon hypophthalmus (Sauvage, 1878) (Pangasiidae)
The purpose of this study was to determine the type of maggot media that can produce the highest survival, growth, feed efficiency and lowest feed conversion ratio (FCR) to Striped catfish fingerling. This research was conducted during July 2020 – January 2021 at the Laboratory of Building 4, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran. The research method was carried out experimentally using the Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method and four treatments. The treatment given is a combination of commercial feed and maggot with different media consisting of A (50% commercial feed + maggot with 50% mixed media), B (50% commercial feed + maggot with 50% fruit media), C (50% commercial feed + maggot with 50% layer media) and D (50% commercial feed + maggot with 50% bran media). The parameters observed were survival, daily weight growth rate, length, feed efficiency, food conversion ratio and water quality. . Giving a combination of 50% commercial feed and cultured maggot with mixed media of 50% gave the best daily growth rate, length growth and feed efficiency results, namely 1.23%, 0.99% and 62.79% and the lowest feed conversion ratio value. that is 1.67
Evaluation of Various Sources of Bacteria on Biofloc Productivity
Biofloc technology is a new alternative in addressing water quality problems in aquaculture which is adapted from conventional domestic waste processing techniques. The main principle applied in this technology is water quality management which is based on the ability of heterotrophic bacteria to utilize organic and inorganic N in water. In a balanced C and N condition in water, heterotrophic bacteria which will utilize N, both in organic and inorganic form, are present in water for the formation of biomass so that the concentration of N in water is reduced. Several types of bacteria that are often used in biofloc are Bacillus sp., Bacillus subtilis, Pseudomonas sp., Bacillus lichenoformis, Bacillus pumilus; Lactobacillus sp.; Bacillus megaterium . Microbes play key role in the biofloc systems. Microbes associated with floc after consumption help to improve digestion, reduces FCR reduces dietary protein level and heterotrophic bacteria, which together probiotic bacteria, inhibit the development of potential pathogen bacteria. With biofloc there are some improves in different aspects during culture like higher growth rates, increased survival, improved water quality, reduced amount of water used and decrease in diseases. Thus, role of microorganisms is important in biofloc system; therefore, it is necessary to carry out more studies related to identification of microbes that can be present in biofloc systems
Chitosan Application as Edible Packaging Raw Material
Chitosan extracted from shrimp or crab can be made as raw material for biodegradable packaging. The purpose of this article is to review the advantages of chitosan as a raw material for packaging, the extraction method of chitosan, the properties and quality of chitosan, biodegradable packaging, manufacturing methods, and properties of packaging made from chitosan and the development of chitosan products for packaging materials. Chitosan is a raw material for packaging that can be parsed, commonly called biodegradable packaging, non-toxic and anti-bacterial. The method of making chitosan is removing minerals and removing protein from shrimp, crab, or ranjungan shells to obtain chitin, followed by the chitin acetylation process to obtain chitosan. The quality of chitosan is listed in SNI No.7949 (2013), where this standardization includes color, moisture content, ash content, nitrogen content, and degree of deacetylation. Chitosan has been used for edible coating material and edible film material, both of which have different manufacturing methods and characteristics. A Review: Methods of Smoking for the Quality of Smoked Fish
Fish that have been caught are susceptible to decay and damage which are influenced by the level of acidity, weather, processing and storage methods, and temperature during transportation. This causes losses to the fishery business. One way that can be used to reduce the damage and spoilage of fish is through smoking. The purpose of this review article is to describe various methods of fish smoking, the chemical composition of smoked fish, and the number of microbes present in smoked fish. Smoked fish still contains nutrients such as protein, lipids, fiber, amino acids, minerals, and vitamins. The growth of microbes, especially those that are pathogenic, is inhibited and even some microbes cannot grow so that smoked fish is still good for human consumption. The microbes that cannot grow include Vibrio spp, yeast, mold, and Salmonella sp. Hot smoking method uses a temperature of 30-90oC, while cold smoking uses a temperature of 30-40oC. The chemical composition contained in smoked fish such as water content, protein, ash content, crude fiber, amino acids, biogenic amines, minerals and phenols. While the microbiological content of smoked fish with hot and cold smoking methods has a TPC value according to smoked fish standards and is free from pathogenic microbes, fungi, yeast and molds
Effect of Feeding Rate on the Growth and Nutrient Utilization of African Catfish Clarias gariepinus (Burchell 1822) Juveniles
This study was conducted to examine the effect of feeding at different time intervals of the day on the growth efficiency of African catfish (Clarias gariepinus, Burchell 1822). Juveniles of African catfish Clarias gariepinus with an average weight of 16.0±0.20g were randomly stocked into four treatment groups (T1, T2, T3 and T4) at 10 fish per group using a completely randomized design (CRD). The treatment groups were T1 (Fish fed once daily), T2 (Fish fed twice), T3 (Fish fed Thrice daily) and T4 (Fish fed four times daily). They were all fed 3% of their body weight. Data obtained was analysed using Genstat package while means where separated using Duncan Multiple Range Test. The result of the study showed that the highest weight gains of 104.49g was recorded in Treatment 3, this was followed by Treatment 2 with a mean weight gain value of 92.42g. The least value of weight gain (76.74g) was recorded in Treatment 1. Also, the highest feed intake value of 142.83g was recorded in Treatment 3, this was followed by Treatment 2 with a mean feed intake value of 135.12g. The least value of feed intake (112.95g) was recorded in Treatment 1. The feed conversion ratio and Protein Efficiency ratio (PER) also followed similar trend as that of weight gain and feed intake. The highest PER value of 2.10 was recorded in Treatment 3, this was followed by Treatment 2 with a mean PER value of 1.69. The least PER value (1.39) was recorded in Treatment 4. ANOVA showed that there was significance difference (P<0.05) in the PER value between Treatment 1, 2 and 3. However, Treatment 1 was not significantly different (P>0.05) from Treatment 4. At the end of the Study, three times feeding per day was found to be sufficient for maximum growth as it recorded the highest value for growth parameters monitored and was significantly different from other treatments
Effect of the Addition Red Ginger Extract (Zingiber officinale Var Rubrum) on the Physical and Microbiological Characteristics of Seaweed Jelly Candy
Seaweed jelly candy is a popular food product with a characteristic chewy texture and sweet taste, but it is very susceptible to quality degradation because it is semi-wet so it is easy for microorganisms to grow. This research aims to determine the effect of adding red ginger extract on the physical and microbiological characteristics of seaweed jelly candy. The research method used is an experimental method with four treatments with three replications adding concentration of red ginger extract (0%, 20%, 35% and 50%) based on the weight of the seaweed used. The parameters observed in this research are physical characteristics (Texture Profile Analysis / TPA) and microbiological characteristics which include, gumminess, gel strength, adhesiveness, springiness, cohesiveness, chewiness and total mold. Total mold testing was carried out using the duplo method and referring to SNI 2332.07 in 2009. Texture Profile Analysis/ TPA testing was carried out using Completely Randomized Design (CRD). Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the addition of red ginger extract has an effect on the physical and microbiological characteristics of seaweed jelly candy. The best treatment with addition of red ginger extract to the physical and microbiological characteristics of seaweed jelly candy is treatment D (addition of red ginger extract 50%), with gumminess value of 128.87%, gel strength 468.26 gforce, adhesiveness -0.053%, springiness 0 .83%, cohesiveness 0.16%, and chewiness 107.75%, and the total value of mold is 2.46
The Contribution of Fisheries Sector in Regional Development of Karo Regency North Sumatra Province, Indonesia
This research aims to analyze the growth of the fisheries sector, analyze the commodity market strength of the fisheries sector and analyze the strength of the fisheries sector\u27s base and non-base sectors in regional development in Karo Regency. The method used in this study was a quantitative method using secondary data cross-section and time series which were then analyzed using descriptive statistics, and qualitative methods using primary data obtained through interview questionnaires. Analysis of the data used was growth index analysis, Trade area capture (TAC) analysis, full factor analysis (PF) and minimum requirement approach (MRA) analysis. The results of the growth index analysis show that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP)of the fisheries sector in the Karo Regency has increased by 95% in the period 2009-2018. The results of the 2009-2018 TAC analysis showed that the TAC value> population indicated that the regency was able to capture the opportunities of trade in fisheries products in other regions. PF value of the fisheries sector> 1 can attract customers from other regions and has a specialization in terms of fishery product markets. MRA analysis results in 2017 obtained the largest base multiplier in Bulang District with a value of 12.9 which means that every 120 workers in the base sector are expected to create 9 workers in the non-base sector
Effect of Stocking Density on Growth Performance and the Survival of Golden Mahseer, Tor putitora (Hamilton) Fry
Growth performance and survival of Tor putitora fry under different stocking densities were evaluated fry rearing system. The experimental period was 10 weeks from 31 December to 10 March 2019. The experiment was carried out in nine earthen ponds of 0.04 ha each under three treatments with three replications. Thirty days old fry were stocked at the rate of 1.0X105/ha was designated as treatment- 1 (T1), 1.5X105/ha` as treatment- 2 (T2) and 2.0X105/ha as treatment- 3 (T3), respectively. Fry were fed with commercially available nursery feed containing 32% crude protein. It was observed that, lower stocking density showed highest daily weight gain in T1 (growth 0.066 ± 0.006 g/day) compared with higher stocking density in T2 (growth 0.044 ± 0.004 g/day) and T3 (growth 0.024 ± 0.003 g/day), respectively. It is also noticed that, the lower stocking showed the highest survival rate (79.66 ± 4.34 %) than the other two treatments (66.97±3.67 and 54.67± 3.12 %). The values of different water quality parameters were within the optimum ranges for the rearing of carp fry. Water quality parameters did not show significant variations in the experimental ponds under different stocking densities. Among these three stocking densities lower stocking density (T1) showed the best result compare with the other two higher stocking densities
The Exchange Rate Analysis of Fish Cultivators (A Case Study in Bayongbong Garut Indonesia)
The purpose of this study is to analyze 1) the exchange rate of fish cultivators (NTPI) in Garut Regency, and 2) the factors that affect the NTPI in Garut Regency. A case study method including both primary and secondary data was used in the study. Primary data were generated from the interviews with respondents. Secondary data were obtained from the relevant agencies. This study used 45 respondents as research sample based on the purposive sampling. The data analysis used is NTPI and multiple linear regression. The results obtained in this research are the average NTPI in Bayongbong Subdistrict, which is 116%, explaining that fish cultivators\u27 expenditures on household consumption and production cost are lower than their income. So it can be concluded that fish cultivators in Bayongbong Subdistrict are prosperous cultivators. Factors that can affect NTPI are age, education level, work experience, number of family members, income, and expenditure
