    Analysis of Consumer Behavior in Freshwater Fish Purchase Decisions (A Case Study at the Sabilulungan Modern Fish Market, Bandung Regency, West Java, Indonesia)

    This study aims to analyze the behavior of freshwater fish consumers in the Sabilulungan Modern Fish Market, Bandung Regency and to analyze the factors that encourage consumers to buy freshwater fish at PIM Sabilulungan. The method used in this research is a case study with research subjects, namely freshwater fish consumers at PIM Sabilulungan, using a rating scale analysis and rank spearman. The sampling technique used was accindental random sampling with a total of 40 respondents. The consumer purchasing decision process consists of five stages, namely the introduction of needs, information search, evaluation of alternatives, the purchase process and evaluation of post-purchase results. The results showed that at the introduction stage the need for motivation to purchase freshwater fish because fish have good nutrition, at the information search stage the source of information obtained by respondents was print / electronic media. In the alternative evaluation stage, the reason consumers buy freshwater fish at PIM Sabilulungan is because of the various types of fish. At the purchasing stage, respondents buy 1.1kg-3kg freshwater fish with a frequency of buying it twice a month. In the post-purchase evaluation stage, respondents are satisfied with the freshwater fish products being sold and the marketed prices are affordable. To see the factors that influence purchase motivation, the rank spearman test is used. The test results show that the product price and service quality are the factors that most influence the purchase decision of freshwater fish at the Sabilulungan Modern Fish Market with t count values ​​of 16.245 and 16.228

    Analysis of Added Value of Fish Drumstick at Home Industry "Adisyafidz Barokah" Nagreg, Bandung Regency, West Java

    Research was conducted for one month starting from 16 November 2020 to 17 December 2020 at home industry "Adisyafidz barokah" Nagreg, Bandung regency, West Java province, Indonesia. Catfish (Clarias sp.) is one of the fish that preferably consumed by the people of Indonesia. This opportunity is used by Mr. Mansyur as owner of home industry "Adisyafidz Barakoh" to process various products made from catfish, one of them is fish drumstick. This product is very popular among children and adults. This research aims to determine the added value and profit of fish drumstick products in the "Adisyafidz Barokah" Home Industry. The added value was analyzed using the Hayami method. The research procedure is carried out with the first stage of making fish drumstick products according to the steps that are usually done at home industry. Then the next step is to conduct interviews with the owner of the Home Industry Adisyafidz Barokah and also with several employees to get information related to the prices of main and additional raw materials as well as the marketing prices of fish drumstick. The data obtained were analyzed to see the added value based on the Hayami method. Based on the results of the research, it was concluded that the processing of catfish into fish drumstick products added value more than 0, wich mean this business was feasible to carry out. This processed product has an added value of IDR. 137,000.00 from 4 kg of fish drumstick products with 12 kg of catfish as raw material. The profit obtained from processing catfish into fish drumstick in one production (12 kg of raw material) is IDR. 110,600.00, percentage of profit is 80.07%

    Demersal Fish Diversity Index in Cirebon Waters, West Java

    This study aims to analyze the distance between the placement of the base fish aggregating devices (FAD) from the beach, the composition of the catch, identify fish species and determine the diversity of fish caught at different distances of the base FAD in Cirebon waters. The research method was carried out descriptively by census. Data analysis method for demersal fish diversity index value (H\u27) using Shannon-Wiener and t-test. Sampling of respondents was carried out by census as many as 20 basic FAD fishermen. The research location is in the Cangkol Tengah Fishermen Association, Cirebon City. The results of this study indicate that the number of fish species caught on FADs with a distance of <12 miles was obtained 10 species with 6,784 fish, the largest number of fish caught was snapper (Lutjanus Campechanus) as many as 2,040 fish with a percentage of 30.2% of the total number of fish. The whole fish caught, while the fish with the largest weight was snapper for distances <12 miles with an average weight of 658.92 kg or 30% of other types of fish. The number of fish species caught on FADs with a distance of >12 miles obtained 10 species with 9.217 fish, the highest number of fish caught was snapper (Lutjanus Campechanus) as many as 2,884 fish with a percentage of 27.97% of the total number of fish caught, while the fish with the greatest weight is snapper with an average weight for distances >12 miles of 988.39 kg or 30% of other types of fish. The magnitude of the demersal fish diversity index value at the base FAD placement distance <12 miles was 1.6672 and more than 12 miles was 1.8137 which means that there is no significant difference and the diversity index category is small because the value of H \u27≤ 2

    Study of Some Morphometric and Meristic Traits of Chirru Snowtrout (Schizothorax esocinus) from River Jhelum, Kashmir, India

    A study was conducted to analyze morphological characteristics of a Schizothoracid species: Schizothorax esocinus collected from three sites of river Jhelum in Kashmir. S. esocinus is locally known as “Churru” and forms an important food element of the local population., Schizothorax esocinus is one of the most important species in the genus Schizothorax and it has continued to contribute immensely to the nutritional needs, economic growth and development of the Kashmir valley. Furthermore, this fish is very sensitive to any environmental changes so it acts as bioindicator of aquatic pollution. A total of 180 samples were taken for the study of the morphometric and meristic characters utilzing ethnic fishing gears. Thirteen conventional morphometric characters examined in the present study, showed high co-efficient of determination (R2) values ranging from 0.55 to 0.91 for district Srinagar from 0.56 to 0.92 for district Anantnag, and 0.56 to 0.98 for district Baramulla signifying that the traits were highly correlated to each other. Out of six meristic characters examined, two characters were not remarkably different (p>0.05). The fin formula of S. esocinus was devised as D, I + 5-10, P, I + 7-11, C, I + 15-23, A, I + 3-7, LL, 55-170. This study is purely aimed at studying the morphology and meristics of S. esocinus and not at estimating the length-weight relationship or condition factor

    A Mini-Review: Effect of Pandanus amaryllifolius Roxb Leaves for Fish Health

    In fish farming, problems often occur due to disease attacks. Disease attack can result in decreased production and quality of fish. This is very detrimental to cultivators. Disease control is an important factor to be acknowledged. The use of herbs is an alternative for disease control that is relatively safe. Pandanus amaryllifolius Roxb plants are known to contain several secondary metabolite compounds, namely achaloid, flavonoids, tannins and steroids which are antibacterial and antioxidant. The results of the study show that this plant species from the Pandanaceae family can be used for treatment and prevention of disease-infected fish. The purpose of this article is to describe the compounds contained in P. amaryllifolius and their benefits for fish health. P. amaryllifolius gives a positive effect on health of fish, it can be used to treat and prevent disease in fishes

    Fish Consumption Behavioral Changes during COVID-19 Pandemic in Bandung City (Case Study in Regol District)

    The spread of the Coronavirus outbreak has in changes in people\u27s consumption patterns, including the consumption of fish products. The purpose of this study was to analyze changes in fish consumption behavior, what factors experienced changes in fish consumption behavior during the Covid-19 pandemic, and to analyze the understanding of the benefits of fish from consumers in the District Regol. The research was conducted in February - March 2021. The data used were primary. The method used is a case study with qualitative, quantitative the and descriptive data analysis. The sampling technique used an accidental sampling method with 100 respondents. Based on the results of the study, before the pandemic most respondents (39%) consumed fish twice a week, while in the pandemic phase, most respondents (46%) consumed fish only once a week and the amount of fish consumption in one week that is before the pandemic 47% consumers consume as much as <1kg, 43% as much as 1-2 kg and 10% as much as> 3kg, after the pandemic 55% consumers consume as much as < 1kg, 33% as much as 1-2 kg and 12% as much as> 3 kg. The purchasing system for the majority of consumers has not changed, that is, consumers still prefer to shop offline. The place of purchase for the majority of consumers has not changed, that is, consumers still prefer traditional markets

    Survey Analysis of Ponds Aquaculture Development Trend in West Java Province

    The fishery sector has a strategic role in national development. West Java is one of the areas with the highest fisheries sector because it has abundant fisheries resources and commodities, so that West Java Province is one of the aquaculture sectors in Indonesia. Ponds are a culture medium for freshwater fisheries that dominate most of the production in West Java Province. The purpose of this study is to analyze the development trend of ponds aquaculture competitiveness in the regency/city of West Java Province. The study was conducted in November 2020 – June 2021. The method used was a literature survey to determine the development trend of aquaculture in ponds in West Java Province. The data obtained in the form of primary data and secondary data were analyzed descriptively. Primary data in the form of expert opinions as many as 20 people consisting of nine lecturers from the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Padjadjaran University and 11 employees of the Department of Marine and Fisheries of West Java Province. Secondary data is in the form of aquaculture statistical data in ponds with the main indicators, namely human resources, facilities, facilities and infrastructure, production, and Science and Technology with time series data from 2004 – 2019 Department of Marine and Fisheries of West Java Province. The results showed that the trend of fisheries competitiveness in 2004 – 2019 illustrates that the movement of ponds aquaculture development in the regency/city of West Java Province is experiencing fluctuating changes, seen from the development of aquaculture production from year to year experiencing positive changes

    The Biological Aspects of the Main Targets of Troll Line at Palabuhanratu Fishing Port, Indonesia

    The biological aspect is a piece of basic information that is commonly presented in assessing the level of environmental friendliness of fishing gear or fishing vessel. This study was conducted to analyze the biological aspects of the main catch of the troll line at the Palabuhanratu Fishing Port, Sukabumi, Indonesia. The biological aspects analyzed consisted of length frequency distribution, length-weight relationship, to the average feasibility status of the caught target fish. There were three main target commodities for fishing from the troll line that was identified during the research activity, namely yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares), skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis), and frigate tuna (Auxis thazard). A total of 14 troll line fleets were obtained as a source of research data based on the accidental sampling method. The total number of 1404 fish consisting of 480 yellowfin tuna, 475 skipjack tuna, and 449 frigate tuna were obtained as research data objects. The stratified random sampling method was used in determining the observed sample fish data. Yellowfin tuna were distributed at size 29 – 148 cm, skipjack tuna at size 29 – 88 cm, and frigate tuna at size 23 – 82 cm. Analysis of the length-weight relationship showed a negative allometric growth pattern in the three main fishing target commodities. The analysis of the feasibility of the average fish caught based on compared of L50% to ½ L∞ shows that the average size of tuna and frigate tuna caught is undersize for catching, while the average skipjack caught has reached a legal size. The results of this study indicate that there is a need for a review of the use of fishing hooks in the fishing activity of the troll line fishing fleet. Increasing the hook size can be used to avoid catching fish that are at a size that is not suitable for catching

    Qualitative Descriptive Data Analysis of the Competitiveness of Floating Cage Net Production in West Java Province

    This study has the aim to analyze the competitiveness production of floating net cages aquaculture in West Java Province. The research was conducted from September 2020 – July 2021. The method used was a literature survey to determine the competitiveness of floating net cage aquaculture in 27 regencies/cities in West Java Province. Data collected was analysed descriptively. Primary data is in the form of expert judgment consisting of 20 people regarding the proportion of competitiveness of floating net cage aquaculture fisheries. Secondary data on Floating Net Cage Aquaculture Fisheries (2004 – 2019) was obtained from the office of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of West Java Province.The results of this study indicates that the regencies with very high competitiveness are Purwakarta Regency and Cianjur Regency. While the regencies with low competitiveness are regencies/cities in the northern and southern regions

    Conservation Status of Shark Landed in Local Fish Market in Pangandaran Regency, Indonesia

    Pangandaran has a great fishery potential. Therefore, fishing communities make fisheries a source of economy, especially in the fishing sector, namely by buying and selling the catch. Fish buying and selling activities are increasing in line with the fish consumption needs of the community. This has an effect on increasing fishing activity, causing a decrease in fish production. The study was conducted to find out information on the IUCN group of fish that are still sold in the fish market. The research was conducted by direct observation in the field at the Pangandaran fish market and its surroundings. Observations show that the Pangandaran fish market still sells fish that are listed in the IUCN. There are sharks and ray fish sold at the Pangandaran fish market. The species found were 3 species spread over five observation locations with details of one species listed IUCN-Least concern, and one species registered IUCN-Vulnerable for hammerhead shark and IUCN- Near Threatened for blacktip shark. The sharks identified as Appendix II species while the freshwater stingray belongs to Appendix III of CITES. Because endangered fish are still sold routinely, conservation is needed to preserve the biota. Fisheries management in the catching process also needs to be done so that endangered fish caught can be minimized
