Analysis of the Structure of Economic Growth in the Fisheries Sector Study Case at Bogor District Indonesia
This study aims to analyze the theory of economic growth and analyze the growth rate of the fisheries sector in the Bogor District based on a comparison of the total gross regional domestic production (GRDP) of cities and provinces. The research began in January 2021 until April 2021. The research method was carried out by survey methods collected both through decision surveys which were then analyzed quantitatively and presented descriptively. This research data comes from secondary data. The data was generated from interviews with the Department of Fisheries and Livestock staff in Bogor District, BPS Bogor District, BPS West Java Province, and Bappeda Bogor District. Data analysis included Shift Share Analysis and Location Quotient Analysis. Based on research conducted on the Analysis of the Economic Growth Structure of the Fisheries Sector in the Bogor District, it can be concluded that the Fisheries Sector is aprimary sector in the Bogor District with an LQ value of 1.2712. The results show the growth value of the net shift in the production of the fisheries sector in Bogor District with an average from 2015-2019 of -1.331.821,44. The fisheries sector shows a PB value <0, meaning that the fisheries sector in Bogor District has a slow growth rate
Volatile Flavor Compounds Composition of Steamed Squid (Loligo sp.)
Squid (Loligo sp.) is one of the marine fishery commodities that abundant in resources and valuable economically in Indonesia. To increase the economic value of food, processing activities are needed, steaming is one of them. Processing activities using high temperatures are suspected to affect the composition of flavor compounds in fishery products. Flavor volatile are components that act as aroma, the initial impression (top notes), and evaporate easily. This research is to study and identify volatile compounds composition found in steamed squid. The squid was taken from Indramayu, West Java, subsequently the sample preparation was conducted at the Laboratory of Fishery Processing Technology, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, Universitas Padjajaran. Volatile components were analyzed at Flavor Laboratory, Indonesian Center for Rice Research, Sukamandi, Subang from February to April 2021. Volatile compounds were analyzed using Gas Chromatography / Mass Spectrometry (GC / MS) with an extraction temperature of 80ºC in 45 minutes (Solid Phase Micro Extraction). The proximate analysis was analyzed at Inter-University Centre Laboratory, Bogor Agricultural Institute. The volatile compound analysis successfully detected 30 compounds in the steamed squid sample. The proximate analysis showed steamed squid contained 74.99% water content, 1.49% ash, 2.09% fat, and 21.12% protein
Proximate Analysis and Mineral Composition of Commercially Important Spiny Lobsters from Visakhapatnam Coast, Andhra Pradesh, India
The research work was carried out to assess the dietary qualities of spiny lobsters collected from Visakhapatnam fishing harbour, situated on the northeast coast of Andhra Pradesh. The species selected were Panulirus homarus (Linnaeus, 1758), P. ornatus (Fabricius, 1798), P. versicolor (Latreille, 1804), and P. polyphagus (Herbst, 1793). The species were morphometrically measured, and their tissue was analyzed for the comparative proximate composition (Moisture, Protein, Lipid, and Ash) on a dry weight basis. Protein content was found to be high in all the lobster species. Highest protein content was observed in P. homarus (mg/g), followed by P. ornatus and P. versicolor (mg/g). Moisture percentage was 72.7, 75.7, 76.2, and 74.8% respectively. In addition, four minerals were analysed (Ca, Na, K, and Mg) in the present study. Calcium was observed maximum in all the species, and Magnesium was recorded minimum in all the lobsters
The Exchange Rate Analysis of Fish Cultivators in Bandung District, Indonesia
Bandung Regency is one of the fisheries centers in West Java Province, some residents make freshwater fish farming their main and side livelihood, to see the welfare of fish cultivators in Bandung Regency, namely using the Fish Cultivator Exchange Rate (NTPI). This study aims to analyze the NTPI of Bandung Regency and analyze the factors that can affect the NTPI. The research method used is descriptive observation and interviews. The results showed that most of the fish cultivators in Bandung Regency were in a prosperous condition because they obtained NTPI > 100. The results of multiple linear regression show that age, education, work experience, number of dependents, income and expenses affect the NTPI of Bandung Regency. Partially the factors that have a significant effect are income and expenses. Variables that do not significantly affect are age, education, work experience, number of dependents and land area. Based on the results of the NTPI, as many as 79% of respondents are prosperous and 11% are in the less prosperous level
Financial Analysis of Costs of Fish Feed Production with Restaurant Waste as Basic Ingredients (Case Study in Jatinangor District, Sumedang Regency, West Java)
As an educational city, Jatinangor has a fairly large population density. In turn, it generates restaurant organic waste in large quantities. Excessive production of organic waste will be a problem if it is not accompanied by good management and utilization. One of the efforts in utilizing restaurant waste is to turn the waste as fish feed. This study aims to calculate the production of restaurant waste and analyze the cost of production of fish feed using restaurant waste flour. The production of restaurant waste was calculated using purposive random sampling, while the cost of feed production was determined by using variable costing method. Questionnaires and research primary data were used to collect data. The results obtained from this study were as such: production of restaurant waste in the Jatinangor area is 261.7 Kg/day, the cost of production for fish feed with the basic ingredients of restaurant waste flour is 70,013,127 IDR with a production capacity of 6,913.1 kg of fish feed per year, so that the cost of feed per kilogram is 10,127.60 IDR, and the selling price of feed is 12,200 IDR/kilogram with a profit of 20%. Thus, it can be seen that independent feed production using restaurant waste can be a solution in the utilization of waste and can also be used as a source of income for the surrounding community
The Used of Natural Anesthetic Materials Nutmeg Seed Oil in the Transportation of Sumatran Fish Fingerlings (Puntius tetrazona)
The low survival rate in Sumatran fish fingerlings transportation is a problem related to metabolic disturbances that cause death. The addition of nutmeg seed oil in the transportation medium is expected to reduce the rate of respiration and metabolism, so that fish mortality can be minimized. The purpose of this study was to determine the effective concentration of nutmeg seed oil to maintain the highest survival rate of Sumatran fish fry transported during treatment and to analyze its effect on induction time and recovery time. This research was carried out from January to March 2021 in the Ciparanje wet laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Padjadjaran University. This research was conducted experimentally using a factorial randomized group design (FRGD) consisting of two factors, namely the concentration of four levels (0.03, 0.06, 0.09 ml/L and control) and duration of three levels (3, 5, and 7 hours) which was repeated three times. This research uses a closed transportation system. Parameters observed were induction time and conscious recovery time of test fish, post-transportation and post-maintenance survival for 7 days and water quality consisting of temperature, DO, pH, and ammonia. The results showed that the effective nutmeg seed oil for the anesthesia of Sumatran fish fry transported was 0.03 ml/L with a transportation duration of 3 hours because it had an induction time of 08:07, recovery time of 02:41 and postoperative survival rate. transportation by 98.33% and post-maintenance for 7 days by 91.49%. Temperature parameters are 22.7oC, DO is ±10.3 mg/L, pH is ± 6.83 and ammonia is ±0.0010 mg/L
Exploring Impact of Fish Farming in Changing Livelihood Status of Fishermen in Bangladesh
The current study was piloted in Muktagachha sub-district, Mymensingh District, Bangladesh to explore the impact of fish farming in changing livelihood status of the fishermen. Data was collected from 100 fishermen (10% of total population) by using a well-structured interview schedule. Sixteen of socio-economic characteristics of fishermen were selected as livelihood status features. Correlation coefficient (r) was employed to analyze the collected data. The findings exposed that majority of the respondents (58.3%) moderately altered their livelihood status as a result of fish farming, while 31.7% touched higher level and just 10% lowered their livelihood status. Out of sixteen livelihood status aspects, four (level of education, farm size, knowledge on fish farming, and annual income) were positively and significantly correlated with their livelihood status changes through fish farming. The study provides approvals for the planners to address the above-mentioned influential issues of the fishermen to improve their livelihood status in the study area. Moreover, non-formal educational programmes, proper training to enhance knowledge and skill on fish farming, appropriate extension services etc. could play an important role in increasing the livelihood status of the fishermen
Analysis of Added Value of Shredded Catfish in Bandung Regency, West Java, Indonesia (The Case Study of Abon Ikan Lele Sejahtera Maruyung Village, Pacet District)
The purpose of this study was to determine added value from the processing of fresh catfish into shredded catfish at "Abon Ikan Lele Sejahtera" in Maruyung Village, Bandung Regency, West Java, Indonesia. The research method used is a case study and quantitative descriptive analysis. The sampling technique in this research used the purposive sampling method. The method of data analysis in this study used Hayami’s method. This research was conducted in Bandung Regency from August 2021 until September 2021. The results show that the added value generated is 69,4%. It means the price of shredded catfish is increase 69% from the price of fresh catfish. The added value is classified as high but can be higher if the business owner reduced the cost of other input contributions
A Mini- review : Effect of Phyllantus niruri L. on Growth and Health of Fish
Phyllanthus niruri L. is one of the herbal ingredients that has been widely used to treat various diseases in humans such as intestinal infections, kidney stones, chronic liver disease, diabetes, hepatitis B, asthma, gonorrhea, bronchitis, syphilis and boost the immune system. The ability of P. niruri in overcoming various diseases is based on its phytochemical content and pharmacological properties. Based on these properties, the plant may possibly be used as a drug to treat diseases in fish. So the purpose of writing this article is to review the extent to which P. niruri can be used as an alternative medicine to treat disease and maintain fish health. Secondary metabolites and phyllanthine as specific compounds present in P. niruri have antibacterial effects for types of bacteria that usually attack fish such as Aeromonas hydrophila, Edwardsiella tarda, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa. In addition, it has the effect of being an antioxidant, immunostimulant and can be used for treatment and to increase fish growth. So it can be concluded that P. niruri can be used as an alternative material to maintain health and help fish growth
Relevance of Water Recirculating System in Modern Aquaculture
The review of water recirculation in aquaculture practice presents the reality and benefits of a developed system for effective water re-use with optimum water quality, for intensive fish production. This advanced mechanism of adequate water re-use proves its relevance as it provides for intensive fish production, conservation of available water, conservation of available space, ease in site location, flexibility to locate production facilities near large markets, quick and effective disease control, complete and convenient harvesting, species and harvest diversity especially where available water for culture purpose is limited (considering how water intensive aquaculture is), and salvaging endangered species. The practice of recirculating aquaculture through Recirculating Aquaculture systems needs basic orientation for fish farmers especially in developing aquaculture practice areas, since it can be carried out at different intensities. Recirculating Aquaculture System is hence an optional technology for farming aquatic organisms that should be encouraged
