    Analysis of Value Added of Catfish Meatballs in Bandung Regency, West Java, Indonesia

    This research aims to find out the value added obtained from the process of processing catfish into catfish meatballs. This research was conducted on August 2021 in Bandung Regency. The method used is the case study with the sampling technique in the form of purposive sampling. The type of data that primary data and secondary data uses with observation and interview techniques, the data is analyzed descriptively quantitatively to measure the overall value added component that can answer the purpose of the research. The analysis method used to calculate value added is using the Hayami’s method. The results showed that the value added resulting from the processing of catfish meatballs creates an value added of 19,600 IDR/kilograms the ratio of value added to product value by 13% it means the price of catfish meatball increase 13% from the price of fresh catfish. It means, the value added of catfish meatball relatively still low. The strategic that used to increase the value added of catfish meatball i.e increasing in production, increasing in price, and decreasing in cost

    Biological Parameters of Lethrinus nebulosus in the Arabian Gulf on the Saudi Arabian Coasts

    In the present study about 277 specimens of Lethrinus nebulosus were used to determine some biological parameters which are needed in stock assessment in the region of Arabian Gulf on the Saudi Arabian coasts. The period of spawning was estimated using maturity indexes to April, Mai and June. This species is gonochoric, nevertheless some cases of hermaphrodism are noted. The length relationships were determined showing a correlation between total length and standard length, and between total length and fork length. The weight- length relationship is allometric minorante. The model of Von Bertalanffy was estimated for the studied species and it is as follows:  Lt = 600 *(1-exp (-0.135*(t+1.69)) for both sexes, Lt = 600 (1-exp (-0.166*(t+0.746)) for females and Lt = 555 *(1-exp (-0.153*(t+1.62)) for males

    Analysis of Supply Chain Management of Lobster (Panulirus spp.) In Pangandaran (Case Study of PT. ASI Pudjiastuti Marine Product)

    This study aims to analyze supply chain management of lobster in Pangandaran especially PT. ASI Pudjiastuti Marine Product. The research method is a case study with the case unit at PT. ASI Pudjiastuti Marine Product while information would be collected through primary and secondary data in the field. The sampling method in this research used snowball sampling. The research was conducted from August 2020 - September at TPI Pangandaran and PT. ASI Pudjiastuti Marine Product. The criteria used to select respondents in this study as follow; 4 fishermen, 3 distributors, 2 employees of PT. ASI Pudjiastuti Marine Product and 1 retailer. And the data would be analyzed to get the supply chain condition of lobster. The results showed that there were 6 marketing channels in the supply chain of lobster in Pangadaran case study of PT. ASI Pudjiastuti Marine Product. The availability of lobster products has a value of 0.5 which means was not easily replaced and needed. Late payment and distribution of lobster have a value of 1.0 which means irreplaceable and important. The third and fourth chain marketing margins are below 50%, which means efficient for all members of the chain. The fifth chain has 46.55% and it’s inefficient Fisherman\u27s share. The largest market share value was 46.40% on the fifth channel. Supply chain of lobster in Pangandaran has 6 marketing channels which third and fourth are the most efficient for all members, and the second is most profitable for PT ASI

    Morphometric Relationships in the Blue Swimming Crabs, (Portunus pelagicus) (Linnaeus, 1758) from the Palk Bay, Sri Lanka

    The blue swimming crab (Portunus pelagicus) has become the focus of an important export-oriented fishery in Sri Lanka for a decade. The Palk Bay in the Northern coastal waters of Sri Lanka is one of the best-known fishing grounds for blue swimming crabs in Sri Lanka. This study was undertaken with the aim of establishing some morphometric relationships for P. pelagicus in the Palk Bay. Biological sampling was conducted for five consecutive days per month from November 2014 - October 2015 in the Northern landing sites in the Jaffna District where the catch of Palk Bay blue swimming crab fishery was landed. P. pelagicus specimens were also randomly collected for laboratory analysis. The morphometric measurements of the specimens for the following parameters were undertaken: CW - carapace width with the spine, CWW - carapace width without spine, MW – mouth width, TL - total length, LCPL - left chelar propodus length, LMOV - left movable part Length, RMOV - right movable part length, LCPH - left chelar propodus height, RCPH - right chelar propodus height, ABW - abdominal width, ABL - abdominal length and BW - body weight. The least squared method was used to obtain the Length-Length (L-L) and Length-Weight (L-W) relationships. Of the 65 L-L relationships obtained for P. pelagicus from the study, 34 relationships were correlated (r2>0.5). The estimated relationships between BW and CW for males and females were BW=0.0001 CW 3.01 (r2 =0.84) and BW= 0.0001 CW 2.90 (r2 =0.86), respectively. Positive allometric growth was observed for male P. pelagicus, whereas a negative allometric growth was observed for female P. pelagicus. Most of the morphometric relationships of P. pelagicus obtained in this study were not isometric

    The Effects of Different Natural Anesthesia on Survival of Juvenile Sang kuriang Catfish (Clarias gariepinus) on Closed Wet System Transportation

    This research aims to understand the effect of the different natural anesthesia on the survival rate of sangkuriang catfish juvenile which was transported using closed wet system fish transportation. We discussed selected natural anesthesia for effectiveness, induction times and recovery times in the application of anesthesia for transportation. The benefits of this research were as a reference to choose the best natural anesthesia for catfish juvenile transportation. This research used the experimental method on Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments (clove oil, nutmeg oil, lemongrass oil, and control) with 3 replications. Measured parameters were survival rate after fish transportation, survival rate after aquaculture for 7 days, induction times, recovery times,and water quality such as temperature, dissolved oxygen (DO), pH, and ammonia. The result was clove oil had high survival rate after fish transportation and cultivated for 7 days which is 98,67% and 87,33%. This treatment had quicker time for induction of catfish juvenile than other treatments which was 12.59 minutes although recovery time (10.34) minute was assumed lower than other treatments

    Growth of Goramy (Osphronemus goramy Lac 1801) Monoculture and Polyculture with Nilem (Osteochilus hasselti C.V)

    This research was conducted to determine the optimal density of gorami (Osphronemus goramy Lac 1801) and nilem (Osteochilus hasselti C.V) polyculture with varios nilem density. The research are carried out in the maintenance pool of the Kawungsari Fish Farmers Group, Kertayasa Village, Pangandaran Regency, Indonesia. The research method used is an experimental method with 4 treatments and 4 replications using Completely Randomized Design (CRD). Variation of stocking densities carried out with the ratio of gorami: nilem is 30 : 0 fish m2 -1 (control), 30:10 fish m2 -1, 30: 20 fish m2 -1 and 30: 30 fish m2 -1. The fish are kept for 40 days in a pond with an area of 6 x 8 m and a height of 1.2 m. The fish used are gorami with 6-8 cm long and nilem with 4-6 cm long, gorami fish from the PangandaranKertayasa farmer group and nilem fish come from the seed hall which triggers gorami stock and nilem (BPPSIGN) Tasikmalaya. Obtained data are done at the beginning of the study and every 10 days, namely on day 10th, 20th, 30th and 40th. The parameters observed included daily growth rate, survival rate, feed efficiency, periphyton abundance and water quality. The results showed the stocking density of 30 fish m2 -1gorami with 20 fish m2 -1nilem was the most optimal stocking density with survival rate of 93.5%, daily growth rate of 1.19%, and gorami’s feed efficiency is 32.66%. Pond water quality including temperature, pH and dissolved oxygen is still within optimum range in accordance with the Indonesian National Standard for maintenance of gorami and nilem

    Suitable Stocking Density Ensures Best Production and Economic Returns in Floating Cage Aquaculture System

    The striped dwarf catfish Mystus cavasius being a least concern small indigenous fish it is necessary to protect the species from extinction in the near future. An experiment on production and economic feasibility of Mystus cavasius in cage was conducted for a period of six months from March to August 2020 in beel hilla at Naogaon district of Bangladesh. The study was carried out in nine cages (rectangular 8x5x2 feet size) under three treatments namely T1, T2 and T3 performed with the stocking densities of 46 fry m-2, 92 fry m-2 and 137 fry m-2 and designed each with three replications. The fish was fed with commercial pellet feed (containing 30% crude protein) twice daily at the rate of 5-7% of fish body weight. The total production was found to be significantly (p<0.05) highest in T3 among the three treatments. The net profit was better in T3 than T1 and T2 in terms of better production and money. So, stocking density of Mystus cavasius at the rate of 137 fry m-2 in cage could be an economically feasible aquaculture technique for fish farmers

    Analysis of the Brackish Water Aquaculture Development in Indonesia

    Brackishwater aquaculture is one of the fisheries activities that can be a driving force for the country\u27s economy with its ability to generate profits and reduce unemployment in coastal areas of Indonesia. The development of brackishwater aquaculture can be used as a barometer in fisheries development efforts. This study aims to analyze the development of aquaculture in each province in Indonesia. This research was conducted from August 2020 to July 2021. The type of data used is secondary data obtained from the Directorate General of Aquaculture, Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries. Data analysis used the quantitative descriptive method. The results of this study indicate that the development of brackishwater aquaculture viewed from the aspect of labors, land area, production, and productivity tended to be low during 2004 to 2016 but there were significant changes in provinces that were not centers of aquaculture activities (Maluku, Riau Islands, DKI Jakarta, and North Maluku) this indicates a positive situation that the province is trying to carry out aquaculture activities by facing the existing risks

    Preservation of Squid (LOLIGO SP.) Using Yogurt in Low Temperature Storage on Organoleptic Characteristics

    This research aims to determine the shelf life of squid (Loligo sp.) using Lactic Acid Bacteria in yogurt and its organoleptic characteristics. This research was carried out at the Fishery Product Processing Laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Padjadjaran University in November 2020. This research was carried out using yogurt as a preservative for squid (Loligo sp.) in the treatment of LAB concentrations used 0%, 1, 5%, 3%, 4.5%, and 6%. Observations were made for 11 days and stored at a temperature of 5-10oC, and organoleptic testing (discoloration, brilliance, aroma, and texture) was carried out on days 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 for the treatment 1.5%, 3%, 4.5% and 6% and organoleptic testing on days 1, 3, 5, 7, 8 for control samples. The observed data were analyzed for pH and organoleptic with Friedman test and Chi-Square test. The results showed that 1,5% Lactic Acid Bacteria into yogurt as a preservative in squid has the best effect on the shelf life and organoleptic characteristics of squid during storage at low temperatures with an acceptable limit of up to 10 days

    Characterization of Surimi Based Edible Film from Mackerel Tuna Dark Muscle

    This research aims to determine the best concentration of surimi made from mackerel tuna dark muscle to produce edible film with characteristics according to JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) and to determine the characteristics of edible film product. This research was carried out in March to April 2021 at the Fishery Product Processing Laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Padjadjaran University and Soil Chemistry Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Padjadjaran University. The method used was experimental with Completely Randomized Design (CRD), and treatment with surimi concentration consisted of three treatments with three replications including 8%, 10% and 12%. Parameters observed were thickness, tensile strength, percent elongation and transparency. The resulting data were analyzed using ANOVA and continued with Duncan\u27s test (α=5%). The results showed that an increase in the concentration of surimi made from dark muscle of mackerel tuna had a significant effect on thickness and percent elongation, but an increase in surimi concentration had no significant effect on tensile strength and transparency. Edible film with the addition of 8% concentration of surimi made from mackerel tuna dark muscle had the best characteristics based on the Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) and statistical analysis, with a thickness of 0.096 mm, tensile strength 486.78 kgf/cm2 percent elongation 211.67%, transparency 5, 72 and 94.28% clarity
