Application of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point on Processed Fish Nugget Products in CV Sakana Indo Prima, Depok, West Java
CV Sakana Indo Prima is a company that produces various frozen fish products, including fish nuggets, located in Depok, West Java. Fish nuggets are a perishable fishery product. Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point is a system that ensures food safety in Fish Nuggets. The purpose of this research is to identify and analyze the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point that has been applied to the processing of fish nuggets in CV Sakana Indo Prima. This research is descriptive with the method used is a case study. The application of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points at CV Sakana Indo Prima includes the formation of a Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point team, product descriptions, identification of uses, preparation of process flow diagrams, an inspection of process flow diagrams, hazard analysis, determination of Critical Control Points (CCP), determination of critical limits, determination of monitoring procedures, corrective actions, verification actions, and determination and documentation have been implemented. The Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point result at CV Sakana Indo Prima shows that quality safety is maintained. Critical Control Points are at the stages of receiving raw materials, steaming, fast freezing, final storage, and distribution
Efficacy of Apocyclops royi (Cyclopoida, Copepoda) Nauplii as Live Prey for the First Feeding Larvae of Silver Pompano, Trachinotus blochii (Lacepède, 1801)
In the rearing of first exogenous feeding, marine finfish larvae availability of live prey with suitable size and nutritive content is vital for their growth and survival. Copepods represent an important alternative food to present traditional live feed organisms used in marine fish hatcheries. Use of copepods is known to improve survival, growth, and development of fish larvae. The silver pompano, Trachinotus blochii (Lacepède, 1801) is one of the suitable candidate species for aquaculture due to its fast growth, good meat quality and high market demand. The present study aimed to investigate the efficacy of Apocyclops royi nauplii in the rearing of first feeding larvae of T. blochii. The feeding experiments were conducted from 3 to 7 Day Post Hatch (DPH) using A. royi nauplii and Brachionus plicatilis (s type) diets. Higher growth of T. blochii larvae was evident with A. royi nauplii than that of rotifer diet. The A. royi nauplii fed experimental group of T. blochii larvae showed significantly different length (p <0.05) compared to rotifer fed larvae and the specific growth rate recorded was 29.42% and 24.28% in A. royi and rotifers fed experimental groups, respectively. On 7 DPH, A. royi nauplii fed T. blochii larvae showed higher mortality than rotifer fed group. With A. royi feed T. blochii larvae produced higher pigmentation which gradually started on the head and dorsal surface of the body from 3 DPH onwards and spread all over the body and became intense as the larvae grew to 7 DPH. Our results suggest the A. royi nauplii are suitable live prey for the T. blochii larvae during the initial feeding phase for better growth and pigmentation
Role of the Plant Morinda citrifolia L. in Management of Diseases in Fish Cultured: A Mini-review
Production failure in fish farming activities, one of which is caused by disease. So the prevention of disease needs to be done by using environment friendly technology. Disease control efforts can be carried out through preventive and curative measures. Preventive measures can be taken by increasing the immunity of fish. The use of herbal ingredients is relatively safe for fish and the environment to be used as a source of drugs or immunostimulants. Morinda citrifolia is one of the medicinal plants that contains various types of active ingredients that are antibacterial and immunostimulant, including alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, steroids, phenols and terpenoids, glycosides, carbohydrates, coumarine and scopoletin. Therefore, M. citrifolia, both the fruit and the leaves, can be used for treatment and prevention of diseases that attack cultured fish. The purpose of writing this article is to describe several research results that prove the ability of parts of the noni plant, namely the leaves and fruit to be used as drugs or immunostimulants as an effort to control diseases in cultured fish. Several studies have shown that noni plays a role in overcoming diseases that infect cultured fish, both for treatment and prevention. The parts of M. citrifolia plant used are the leaves and fruit in various dosage forms, namely extract, flour and juice. The types of diseases that can be cured are bacterial diseases caused by Aeromonas hydrophila that infect Leptobarbus hoevenii, Cyprinus carpio, Barbonymus gonionotus, Carassius auratus and Oreochromis niloticus fish and parasitic diseases caused by Argulus sp., Lernaea sp. and Trichodina sp. Several types of fish, namely Cyprinus carpio, Oreochromis niloticus and Penaeus monodon increased body resistance after being treated with M. citrifolia, which was indicated by an increase in the number of leukocytes, an increase in total phagocytic activity and high survival after being challenged with pathogenic organisms
Analysis of Value Added Products of Tenggiri Fish Dried Batagor at PT Hade Bogatama Nusantara, Bandung City, Indonesia
Batagor is a typical food from Bandung, West Java - Indonesia. This research aims to 1) analyze the added value of mackerel fillets processed into dry batagor and 2) analyze the marketing of dried batagor by PT Hade Bogatama Nusantara which includes market segmentation, pricing, competitor identification, and promotion. The research method used is a case study. Data collection consists of primary data and secondary data. Primary data was collected using survey methods and direct interviews with the owner of PT Hade Bogatama Nusantara. The interview technique used, namely unstructured interviews, where the interviewer does not ask questions that have been arranged systematically. Meanwhile, secondary data was obtained from several supporting pieces of literature, such as journals and books. Added value analysis was carried out based on the Hayami method and marketing analysis was carried out descriptively. Based on the Hayami method, the added value of mackerel fillets processed into dry batagor products is Rp. 114.698,19 per kg. The value-added ratio is 59, 74 percent. This dry batagor market segmentation is based on static methods on demographic and geographical groups with the main target being housewives and teenagers. Identifying competitors from the dry batagor product of PT Hade Bogatama Nusantara is very large, rival and substitute competitors. The competition that occurs is based on cost advantage competition and product differentiation. Pricing is based on cost plus pricing. Spatio–Temporal Variation of Chlorophyll, Nutrients and Productivity in Lagos Lagoon, Lagos Nigeria Using Remote Sensing Approach
Spatio–temporal variation in Chlorophyll, Nutrients and Primary Productivity of some selected sampling stations in Lagos lagoon were investigated using conventional method from November 2019 to July 2020, in order to compare the result with data from satellite image using MODIS Aqua. Global Positioning Receiver was used to capture the geographic coordinates of the sampling stations. Water sampling was carried out monthly using standard methods during wet and dry seasons. The observed data were subjected to statistical analysis using Microsoft Excel and SPSS version 20. In wet season, the highest mean value for Chlorophyll a (1.15±0.02 µg/L) was recorded in Ofin while the lowest values (0.06±0.01 µg/L) was observed in Okobaba. During the dry season, the highest mean value (0.75±0.10 µg/L) was in Ofin while the lowest mean value (0.27±0.0.08 µg/L) was recorded in Ibeshe. The MODIS satellite variation in chlorophyll-a showed that the highest value of highest recorded value (1.37±0.00 µg/L) was in wet season (Ijede) while the lowest value (0.12±0.01 µg/L) was observed in dry season (Okobaba). The highest transparency value (0.97±0.01 mg/L) was recorded in dry season (Ofin) while the lowest value (0.35±0.25 mg/L) was recorded in wet season (Oworonsoki). The highest mean value of Surface Sea temperature was recorded in the dry season of Apapa (30.28±1.15oC) while the lowest mean value (26.41±1.15oC) was observed in Okobaba in the wet season. The chlorophyll-a concentration analyzed using standard method and MODIS satellite, in both dry and wet seasons in the sampled stations differ greatly from one another in terms of the mean concentration. The primary productivity of Lagos Lagoon was relatively low, with no significant spatial variations between sampling stations. The results of sea surface temperature, transparency and chlorophyll ‘a’ estimation from the MODIS revealed that the values were positively correlated with laboratory result with r2-value of 0.67, 0.80 and 0.77. Feasibility Analysis of Seaweed, Gracilaria sp., Cultivation in Polyculture System In Ponds: A Case Study From Domas Village, Pontang Serang Banten, Indonesia
This research aims to analyze business feasibility of cultivation of seaweed, Gracilaria sp., and factors that affect farmers\u27 income in Domas Village, Pontang District, Serang Banten Regency. This research was conducted from April 2021 to June 2021 in Domas Village, Pontang Subdistrict, Serang Regency, Banten and was conducted by survey method. Location determination was done by the census sampling method. Sampling was conducted for 35 seaweed farmers in Domas Village. The data analysis used was a business feasibility analysis that includes income analysis, R/C ratio, Payback period, Break event point, sensitivity analysis, and multiple linear regression analysis. The result of the business feasibility analysis obtained was the profit value of Gracilaria sp., cultivation in Domas Village, which was 115,168,232 / year, R / C of 1.32% means that the business was worth running, the payback period value was 1.51 years since the company was established. The product\u27s BEP (kg) value in this study was 1,320 kg. Meaning that the break-even point will be reached if the cultivation produces Gracilaria sp. So that the business can be developed. As for the sensitivity, the value increases acceptable operating costs by 5%. In addition, the calculation of sensitivity to the decline in selling value is known to be a very sensitive variable because it’s 3% decrease will lower the of R / C value to less than 1. This indicates that variable selling prices are more sensitive to investment value than operating costs. Factors that affect the income of cultivators in Domas Village of Pontang Subdistrict are Modal (X1), Total Production (X2), Gracilaria sp. (X5), and Bandeng Fish Seedlings (X6) with a coefficient of determination of 91.8%
Effectiveness of Water Hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) and Water Spinach (Ipomoea aquatica) to Reduce Nitrate and Phosphate Concentrations in Cimulu River Water, Tasikmalaya City, Indonesia
Water hyacinth and water spinach can be used as phytoremediation agents in the Cimulu River because these two plants can grow and adapt in the Cimulu River. This study compared the effectiveness of the two plants in reducing nitrate and phosphate in Cimulu river water. The research was conducted from September to October 2021. The research was conducted ex-situ and in-situ. Media retrieval from the Cimulu River was carried out in situ in the middle of the Cimulu River, Tawang District, Tasikmalaya City, Indonesia. aquatic plants, analysis of pH, temperature, and sampling were carried out ex-situ in the backyard of the house at the LIK Complex, Tasikmalaya City, Indonesia. Analysis of water samples such as DO, BOD, nitrate, and phosphate was carried out ex-situ at the Water Resources Management Laboratory of FPIK Padjadjaran University. The method used is an experimental method, with three treatments consisting of control treatment, treatment A (water hyacinth), and treatment B (water spinach). Each aquarium in treatments A and B contained aquatic plants weighing 200 g each. The results of the research conducted for 28 days showed that water hyacinth weighing 200 g was more effective in reducing nitrate and phosphate than water spinach with the same weight. Furthermore, water hyacinth can reduce nitrate by 61.72% and phosphate by 78.27% with the absorption rate of nitrate in one day reaching 0.006 g/m2 and phosphate 0.038 g/m2. The growth rates of water hyacinth in weeks I, II, III, and IV were 5.03±0.971%, 6.31±0.971%, 6.80±0.321%, and 7.18±0.277%. Meanwhile, other water parameters that can be reduced are BOD from 37.3 mg/L to 8.10 mg/L
Contribution of the Fishery Sector to Regional Development in Bandung Regency, West Java Province, Indonesia
This study aims to analyze the contribution of the fisheries sector to the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GDP) of Bandung Regency and the level of market demand in the fisheries sector in Bandung Regency. The research methods used are both quantitative and qualitative. Location Quotient analysis is used to determine the magnitude of impact of the fishery sector on regional development and shift share analysis to assess the contribution of the fisheries sector to the GRDP. The results of the Location Quotient analysis in Bandung Regency, reveal that in 2015-2019, the average value was 0.45 (< 1), indicating that the fisheries sector in Bandung Regency is a non-economic sector. The sector also records slow growth as indicated by the negative growth of the net shift value. This is indicated by the net shift value of the Bandung Regency fisheries sector experiencing negative growth. Regional development can be maximized by optimizing the fishery sector, especially in the cultivation of consumption fish and ornamental fish to meet the needs of fishery products in Bandung Regency, as well as so that the fisheries sector can become the basis of the sector in Bandung Regency
Effect of Different Density on Survival Rate of Gourami Fingerling (Osphronemus goramy) Razor Size on Closed Transportation System
The low survival rate of gourami fingerling transportation is a problem. Setting the expected amount can lead to death. This research aims to determine the exact amount of density in the razor-sized gourami fingerling transported during the treatment period and to analyze its effect on the survival of razor-sized gourami fingerling. This research was carried out from April to June 2022. This research method used in the Factorial Randomized Group Design (FRGD) experiment consisted of two factors, namely the density factor of 4 levels (10, 20, 30, 40 fish/2L) and the three-stage transport duration factor levels ( 3, 5 and 7 hours). The transportation system in this study is a closed system. The parameters observed were post-transportation life, post-maintenance life for 7 days and water quality in the form of temperature, ammonia, pH and DO. Based on the results of research showed that the effective density for the transportation of razor-sized gourami fingerling was 30 fish/2L with a transportation duration of 5 hours and the survival rate post-transportation was 97.8% and post-maintenance 7 days was 90.02%
Icthyofaunal Diversity of Kavvayi Backwaters, Malabar Coast of India: A Preliminary Study
Fish faunal diversity studies are of great importance for the effective utilization of valuable natural resources and to plan different conservation strategies. Studies on the diversity and richness of fish in Kavvayi backwaters are very rare. Hence, this study is aimed at exploring the fish resources, diversity and species richness of the fish fauna of Kavvayi backwaters of the Kerala coast, which has received very little attention hitherto. Monthly sample collections were made from four stations regularly for a period of one year, and the collection was done by netting with cast net and gill net. A total of 65 species under 51 genera, comprising 36 families belonging to 17 orders of fin fish fauna, were recorded from the Kavvayi backwater. Further studies are required to identify other fish species also and to ascertain the reasons for variations in fish faunal diversity in the Kavvayi backwater ecosystem
