Analysis of the Exchange Rate of Bubu Fishermen in Ketapang Village, Tangerang Regency, Indonesia
The study aimed to analyze exchange analyze the exchange rate of fishermen and analyze the factors that influence the exchange rate of fishing traps in Ketapang Village. This research was conducted from March 2022 to June 2022. Data collection was carried out from April 20, 2022 to May 15, 2022 in Ketapang Village, Tangerang Regency, Indonesia. The method in this study uses a survey method with interview techniques. The resources used are primary data and secondary data. Primary data includes fisherman profiles, fishing experience, characteristics of fishing gear and vessels, commodities and number of catches, as well as income and expenses in the fishery and non-fishery sectors of trap fishermen in Ketapang Village, Tangerang Regency. Secondary data were obtained from the District in Ketapang Village. Data was collected using purposive sampling technique with a total population of 15 samples. Data analysis in this study used quantitative descriptive analysis. Based on the results of the study, it can be seen that the average fisherman exchange rate (NTN) in Ketapang Village, Tangerang Regency is 0.76 or less than 1, meaning that Bubu Fishermen in Ketapang Village, Tangerang Regency have not been able to meet their household needs or in the sense of On the other hand, the amount of revenue is still lower than the amount of expenditure. The factors that influence the exchange rate of fishermen in Ketapang Village, Tangerang Regency are fishery product receipts and household expenditures
Utilization of Fish Scales for Non-Food Products : A Review
This article aims to review the potential of fish scale waste as a processed material and its application to various fields of the non-food industry. The method used in this process is a qualitative descriptive method using data collected from secondary sources. Fish scales are residual waste that can be obtained from waste created in fish sales or fish processing companies. This type of waste has the potential to be utilized because it contains various kinds of organic materials that can be reprocessed to become new products. Fish scales waste can be used directly into handicraft products, including brooches, beading (sequins) and used indirectly in the form of products from collagen extraction, including fish glue and products from chitosan fish scales, including bioplastics, biocoagulants, and Rhodamin B dye adsorbents. The importance of utilizing fish scale waste is that it can increase the selling value of fish scales which were once just waste into potentially useful materials, reduce environmental pollution, encourage the concept of a green economy, and create a zero waste environment in the fishery product industry. From the data that has been collected, it can be concluded that fish scale waste can be used in various non-food industries and can be processed into various products, this includes the use of fish scales as craft products such as brooches or key chains, processing fish scales into adhesives, and extraction of chitin from fish scales to be used as additives for bioplastics, biocoagulants, and rhodamine b adsorbents
Potential of Nanochitosan as an Edible Coating on Pangasius Fillet: A Review
Pangasius fillet are highly perishable foods and have a relatively short shelf life due to the quality degradation process. Nanochitosan is known to have the potential to protect fish fillets as an edible coating because it can penetrate deep into meat tissue and has high antibacterial activity. This article aims to produce good characteristics of nanochitosan (including: particle size, functional groups and particle morphology) and edible coating of nanochitosan (including: viscosity and transparency) as well as to analyze the effect of adding nanochitosan as an edible coating in inhibiting the deterioration of the quality of pangasius fillets during storage based on the total plate count (TPC) and organoleptic parameters according to the Indonesian National Standard 8606:2018
Plankton Community Structure in the Mangrove Waters of Leuweung Sancang Nature Reserve, Garut Regency
This study aims to determine the structure of plankton communities as an estimator of water quality status in the Leuweung Sancang Nature Reserve, Garut Regency, West Java. This research was conducted on October 19 – November 8, 2021. Sampling was carried out at five stations, namely located close to settlements and having a small mangrove area, on the outskirts of the Cipalawah River so that mangrove areas get nutrients from rivers, in delta areas facing tides and rivers, behind deltas that do not directly get nutrients from the sea or rivers and areas that directly face seawater and have the largest mangrove area. The results showed that plankton abundance ranged from 2840 – 3835 ind / L and had a saprobic index ranging from 1.10 – 1.13. Based on the results of the study, the abundance of plankton in the Leuweung Sancang Nature Reserve is categorized as moderate and indicated by mild pollution as seen from the saprobic index
Dry Fish Market Condition and Socio-economic Status of Dry Fish Retailer: A Survey Study in Noakhali, Bangladesh
Background: Fish drying is very common in the entire coastal areas of Bangladesh and these dried fishes have demand both in domestic and international market though the people involved early in the production chain (fishing and drying) add relatively more value and make little profit. Present investigation gives an idea about the scenario of the dried fish market and livelihood pattern of dry fish seller in the Noakhali region, an important coastal region in southern part of Bangladesh.
Methodology: Twenty five retails shops from 12 markets under five upazilla of Noakhali district were surveyed for the study.
Results: Nineteen species of dried fish and 7 types of semi-fermented and salted fish were found in the dried fish market of study area. Most demanded species of dried fish were Harpadon nehereus (Hamilton, 1822), Trichiurus lepturus, Coilia dussumieri,and Apocryptes bato. Peak marketing season of dried fish was rainy season. The market share of freshwater fishes was found 79% and marine water fishes 21%. Average 40% of the retailer completed only the primary level of education. Forty eight percent retailer earn 200-500BDT, 44% earn 500-1000BDT and 8% earn more than 1000BDT daily. Only 4 dried fish retailers have alternative sources of income and 21 have no alternative sources of income. Three types of marketing channels were found in the dried fish market of Noakhali.
Conclusion: Several constraints were found in the dried fish market of Noakhali such as rapid damage of dry fishes, high transaction costs, lack of marketing infrastructure, transportation and storage facilities, etc
The Possibility of Using Probiotics in the Aquaculture of Freshwater Fish
Listed as one of the highest producer of aquaculture fish, Indonesia’s fisheries sector holds a promising potential to be developed as source of global food security. The total production value of both inland and marine farming from both fish and non-fish species were reported to be increased each year. The current government targeted to excel the production up to 25% by 2024. To support this, many innovation and research have been done to accelerate the production of cultured fish, especially fresh water fish which demand is always high in the market. Several fresh water fish commodities have a poor growing performances, such as growth rate, feed conversion ratio (FCR) and survival rate. Thus, a probiotics were used to boost their performance. Probiotics is known for their ability to enhance the growth of fish by secreting enzyme which beneficial to breakdown complex compounds, making it easier to digest for the fish. It is also commercially widespread in the market in various form, either incorporated to the feed or directly use to the medium. In this review, a comprehensive analysis of how probiotics help to increase aquaculture efficiency of fresh water fish will be thoroughly discussed. The discussion will be focus on three fresh water fish species, which are Gouramy fingerlings (Oshpronemus gouramy) Siamese catfish (Pangasius hypopthalmus) And Nilem fish (Osteochillus hasselti)
Biodiversity in the Cipeles River, Sumedang Regency, West Java Province, Indonesia
This study aims to determine the diversity of fish species and to analyze the condition of water quality in the Cipeles River, Summedang Regency, West Java Province, Indonesia. The research was conducted for one month. The research method used was census with purposive sampling technique. The sampling period is four times a week. Analysis of the data used in this study is the composition of fish species, relative abundance, diversity, and water quality with quantitative descriptive data analysis. The results showed that the fish caught were baung (Mystus cavasius), singaringan (Mystus singaringan), tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus), hampala (Hampala macrolepidota), paray (Rasbora aprotaenia), genggehek (Mystacoleucus marginatus), lalawak (Barbonymus balleroides), and and julung-julung (Dermogenys pusilla). The fish diversity index value 0,85 – 0,89 was categorized as low with the highest relative abundance of genggehek fish (Mystacoleucus marginatus) at stations I and III, and lalawak fish (Barbonymus balleroides) at station II. The native fish of the Cipeles River that was able to adapt from 2001 until now is M. marginatus
Microbiological Assessment of Smoked Fishes from Various Processing Points in Ado Ekiti Metropolis
The purpose of the research is to isolate and characterize the bacteria present in smoked fish sold in various processing site in ado Ekiti Metropolis. Fifty (50) samples of five (5) species of fish (Mackerel:Somber scomber, Blue whiting: Micromesistius poutassou, Catfish: Clarias gariepinus Herrings: Clupea harengus, Horse mackerel: Trachurus trachurus ) were obtained from fifteen (15) different processing site in different location in Ado-Ekiti. The study results showed the total heterotrophic bacteria count which ranges from 0.30 x104 – 3.68 x 104 cfu/g, the highest colony count was examined from the panla (Blue whiting {Micromesistius poutassou}.The bacteria organisms isolated and identified in the smoked fish were Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumonia, Streptococcus sp, Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis and Staphylococcus aureus. The study showed that though smoking helps in inhibiting activities of bacteria, however, when not properly carried out, bacterial growth and activities still lead to the deterioration of the fish. Due to public health implication, the state of smoked fish should be paid proper attention by the processors and consumers for their safety through proper processing, storage and handling procedures
Business Development Strategy for Skipjack Fish Floss
This study aims to analyze the business development strategy of the UMKM of Wadimah, Skipjack Fish Floss in Kabupaten Bandung. This research was conducted from November 2021 to May 2022 at UMKM Floss Wadimah, Kabupaten Bandung, Jawa Barat. The research method used in this research is a case study, which will be explained descriptively. The sources of data in this study are primary data (observed data) and secondary data (books, journals, etc.). The data collection technique used is direct observation to the place, distribution of pre-questionnaires to owners and employees totaling 5 people, and consumers totaling 100 people with a duration of 1 month (7 February – 7 March 2022) using accidental sampling technique. Based on the results of the study, it can be seen that the Wadimah Skipjack Fish Floss Business is in the position of the Wadimah Skipjack Fish Floss Business occupies Quadrant II. This means supporting a diversification strategy by using strengths to take advantage of long-term opportunities. Strategy of this business development. can be done by implementing the WO (Weakness - Opportunity) strategy which includes utilizing the support of local, central, and provincial governments as well as possible in overcoming limited capital and facilities and infrastructure in producing floss meat, participating in various training organized by the government, in order to improve quality human resources, expanding partners to look for alternatives if you have difficulty in obtaining main or supporting raw materials, and continue to innovate and produce diversification in skipjack fish floss products so that they can expand the target market, improve practical culture, and consume processed fishery products
The Effect of Adding Tilapia Protein Concentrate on the Level of Preference for Bubble Pearls
This research aims to determine the percentage of addition of tilapia protein concentrate in the manufacture of bubble pearls to the level of preference of the resulting product. One of the source materials that can be used in the formulation for making bubble pearls is tilapia protein concentrate. With the addition of tilapia protein concentrate, it can add nutritional value such as protein. The method used in this research is an experimental method with 4 additional treatments of tilapia protein concentrate, that is 0%, 2.5%, 5%, 7,5% involving 15 semi-trained panelists as replicates. Parameters observed were hedonic tests (preferred level) based on organoleptic characteristics including appearance, aroma, texture, and taste as well as a proximate test (water content, protein content, and fat content) of bubble pearls. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the 5% tilapia protein concentrate treatment was the most preferred treatment by the panelists with a value of 56.71% water content, 3.79% protein content and 3.54% fat content. because with the addition of tilapia protein concentrate of 5% gave the preferred results of texture, taste, appearance and aroma that were not specific. The resulting texture is chewy with a more attractive taste and appearance
