Analysis of Pond Revitalization and Land Suitability for Vaname Shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) and Milk Fish Cultivation Tradisonally Policultural: A Case Study in Muara Kintap Village, Kintap District, Tanah Regency
Shrimp and milkfish are the main commodities of aquaculture in ponds, which have considerable development potential in almost all coastal areas in Indonesia. Based on the description above, to revitalize ponds in the village of Muara Kintap, Kintap District, the research aims to analyze the efforts to revitalize the aquaculture ponds of vannamei shrimp (litopenaeus vannamei) and milkfish in a polyculture manner based on water quality analysis in the village of Muara Kintap, Kintap District, Tanah Laut Regency, South Kalimantan Province. Implementation is planned for June 2023, with the location of the research being in the community pond area of Muara Kintap Village, Resistant Laut District, South Kalimantan Province. Business revitalization of vannamei shrimp (litopenaeus vannamei) and milkfish aquaculture ponds in polyculture based on water quality analysis in Muara Kintap Village, Kintap District, Tanah Laut Regency, Kalimantan, obtained an average R/C ratio for traditional vannamei shrimp farming business, which is worth 3.19, which means the aquaculture business Traditionally polyculture vannamei shrimp is efficient in the use of business costs, because every 1 unit of currency (Rp. 3.19) issued as the cost of the vannamei shrimp farming business will provide business revenue, and based on the land suitability analysis resulting from the interpolation of all parameters it can be concluded that at the research location it was stated that it was suitable to very suitable. The Study of Freshwater Indigenous Ornamental Fishes Available in Selected Sites of Southern Bengal and Their Present Status in Natural Habitats
Aims: To study the diversity of Ornamental fishes as native species by origin from certain parts of Southern Bengal, have importance in export world of ornamental trading in and across India along with their status in natural habitats.
Study Design: An intricate survey was performed along with formal-informal interviews
Place and Duration of Study: Survey sites included Howrah, North 24 Paraganas and South 24 Paraganas, Fish Markets, Pet Markets, and Several Fish Farms.
Methodology: Live specimens after collecting from natural water bodies like ponds, canals, rivers with the help of fishing nets and gears, are immediately preserved in 5% formalin. Later identification and further investigations are completed in the laboratory.
Results: 70 native species from 9 orders were enlisted to for their potentiality but few are exporting from Kolkata market and have gained popularity. 23 indigenous varieties are regularly exporting from Southern Bengal. Some of those species can be kept commercially in aquarium without hurting their biology.
Conclusion: This entire practice of export and domestic supply rely upon mostly wild capture which is unorganised and sometimes unauthorised, ultimately impacts on declination of population and downward indication of biodiversity. Additionally, environmental issues and also anthropogenic activities such as habitat destruction, fragmentation, alteration of water quality due to water pollution, agri-based effluents etc. confirm their loss in nature. Finally, this study recommends that appropriate managements on breeding and culture, quality feed development, consciousness about the species, awareness on the role of species in ecological terms, proper training can only forbid these native wealth from extinction in near future
First Record of the Glugea sp. on the Alosa fallax (Lacepède, 1803) Caught in the Marine Waters of Syria (Eastern Mediterranean)
During the implementation of the current research entitled “Study of diet, growth, reproduction, and determination of the concentrations of some trace elements in Alosa fallax (Lacépède, 1803) in the marine waters of the Lattakian coast”, we found the parasite Glugea sp. inside one of the Alosa fallax caught on 7/24/2023 AD from the Ras Al-Baseet area (35.8524° N, 35.8378° E) using Purse nets. Infection with the parasite Glugea sp. In colonies of yellowish-white masses over the digestive system and muscles. The anatomical and histological characteristics were consistent with scientific references, and this is the first record of the parasite Glugea sp. in the Syrian marine waters and the eastern Mediterranean
The Cultivation of Scallop (Patinopecten yessoensis) in Hokkaido, Japan
Scallop culture is a widely practiced aquaculture activity in Japanese waters that involves collecting wild scallop spat and then growing the spat to a marketable size. This study aims to determine how the cultivation system, technology, and transportation are applied in scallop aquaculture in Japan. This research was conducted from December 2022 to June 2023 at a family scallop farming business in Ishikari, Hokkaido, Japan, hereafter referred to as Company X. This research utilizes a descriptive method with literature exploration and direct observation methods with a case study at Company X.Based on the literature study and activities at Company X, the cultivation media used and transportation are important parts of the scallop culture activities. The cultivation media used at Company X include onion mesh bags, Pearl nets, and lantern nets. The current transportation technology of scallops is carried out in two areas, namely sea, and land, using the open dry system transportation method, exposure method, and oxygen method. Marine transportation uses Hydraulic Cranes for Shipboard Use (Marine Cranes) technology applied to two specialized vessels of 9.7 and 12 GT with truck-mounted crane classification. Land transportation for the delivery of young scallops uses plastic container baskets covered with wet rice sacks to prevent dryness and the scallops inside the baskets from biting each other. After that, the scallops are transported by freezer truck, while land transportation for shipping adult scallops uses a freezer truck filled with oxygenated seawater. The size of the wind blowing at sea, the time of pickup - delivery, and the number of scallops needed are important factors in transportation activities
Fish Sanctuaries as an Ecological Approach to Management for Restoring Fish Biodiversity: A Study on Chikadubi Beel Fish Sanctuary, Bangladesh
The fish biodiversity of open water is reducing as rice culture has been intensified due to other environmental threats. The establishment of a fish sanctuary is a way to conserve fish for future generation. A study was conducted to know the impact of the sanctuary on fish biodiversity for six months from August to December 2020. Various Participatory rural appraisal (PRA) tools were used such as Questionnaire interviews, focus group discussion (FGD), Catch monitoring and cross-check interviews were carried out. Data were collected from 50 fishermen using a semi-structured questionnaire interview, Group discussion, and gathering secondary information from different sources. According to the findings, 78 fish species were recorded in the study area where 60 fish species were recorded to be found before establishment of the sanctuary. Baseline production of the sanctuary was 0.58 MT/ha in 2015 which increased to 1.12 MT/ha in 2020 after establishment of the sanctuary. The highest total number of fish species were caught in August (68.45%) and lowest (41.55%) in December in the Chikadubi beel. The dominant fish species in Chikadubi beel was Freshwater shark (Wallago attu) followed by Spotted snakehead (Channa punctatus), Indian river shad (Gadusia chapra) and Jatiputi (Puntius sophore) whereas the least available fish species was Koitor poa (Johnius coitor). Among the total catch comprises different family such Cyprinidae 58.33%, Channidae 16.60%, Bagridae 14.58%, Siluridae 6.25% & Schilbeidae 8.33 % respectively. The outcomes suggest that careful planning, management and regular practices, along with active community participation, can have positive impact on fish sanctuary
Orange Peel Waste Improved the Growth Performance, Feed Utilization, Oxidative Stress, and Hematological Parameters of Labeo rohita
Expensive and ineffective feed ingredients in fish feed are becoming a major problem for fish growth in the aquaculture industry. Therefore, the experiment was conducted to investigate the utilization of fruit processing wastes as a dietary component in the feed of rohu (Labeo rohita). Four different feed formulations were prepared using commercial diet and supplemented with different levels of orange peel powder (CT= 0%, T1= 15%, T2= 30% and T3= 45%). The experiment was performed in aquariums of dimensions 1x1.5x2 feet, filled with approximately 79 liters of water. Fish were fed two times a day at rate of 3% of their body weight for 35 days. The results showed that the T1, T2, and T3 treatments had almost 104%, 160%, and 68% higher weight gain than that of CT, respectively. The T1 (7.55%), T2 (17.78%), and T3 (4.26%) treatments had a lower feed conversion ratio than that of CT. The T1, T2, T3 treatments had almost 14.18%, 15.27%, and 6.11% lower mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration than that of CT. The T1 and T2 treatments had almost 7.01% and 17.42% higher total serum protein than that of CT, respectively. The T1 (0.90%) and T2 (6.23%) treatments had higher A/G ratios than that of CT, respectively and T3 (0.01%) had lower A/G ratio than that of CT. Overall, the dietary supplementation of 30% orange peel improved growth performance, feed utilization, oxidative stress, and hematological parameters in Labeo rohita
Composition of Flavour Non Volatile Compound Steamed Milkfish (Chanos chanos)
The purpose of this study is to identify the composition of non-volatile flavor compounds contained in steamed milkfish (Chanos chanos). This study was carried out at the Fisheries Product Processing Laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Padjadjaran University, Jatinangor; IPB Integrated Laboratory. The study was conducted experimentally by treating a sample of 100 grams of steamed milkfish (at 100°C for ± 30 minutes) to identify non-volatile compounds and 1 milkfish to test the description. Product description tests were carried out on samples which included appearance, flesh, aroma, texture, and taste. High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) was used to identify non-volatile flavour compounds. The findings revealed that steamed milkfish had 15 non-volatile flavor compounds identified from 15 amino acid compounds. The two umami-flavoring amino acids are 3.21% glutamic acid and 2.14% aspartic acid. The four sweet tasting amino acids are 1.31% alanine, 0.96% threonine, 1.13% glycine and 0.72% serine. The nine bitter amino acids are lysine 2.15%, leucine 1.74%, arginine 1.32%, valine 1.26%, isoleucine 1.16%, phenylalanine 0.95%, tyrosine 0.79%, methionine 0. .69% and 0.90% histidine. Steamed milkfish has a whole appearance with a bright yellowish color. The savory aroma of fresh steamed milkfish is in accordance with the characteristics of milkfish that live in brackish water. The Role of Informal Education in Fisher Women\u27s Struggle for Survival in the Fish Market
Aim: Women fish vendors in Bihar, India, have extremely low literacy rates. In general, they have only received primary education, and some are illiterate. Their participation in the fish market, on the other hand, has received considerable attention. As a result, this study was carried out in the local fish market of Patna (Bihar), India to know about the literacy status of fisherfolks, particularly about the women fish vendors.
Study Design: To understand the status of the women fish vendors, as well as their expertise in selling and purchasing fish at the market, a well-structured questionnaire survey was used. An observation-based study was undertaken to assess skills for cutting fish, calculating the amount, and maintaining hygienic status.
Place and Duration: The study was carried out at random during the day and evening hours in various fish markets of Patna, which included local government-sanctioned, and street fish markets for the duration of two years i.e. the years 2021 & 2022.
Methodology: A survey-based study was conducted, with questionnaires covering criteria such as education level, age group, experience, family pattern, gender-based engagement in day-to-day activities linked to fish marketing, and common challenges experienced by women fish vendors. More than 100 fisherfolks (men and women) have been interviewed.
Results: The majority of women fish vendors were either in the local market, street vendors, or door-to-door fish vendors and very few were present in the stock market. During the study, it was also observed that when buying and selling fish, the women fish vendors negotiated confidently. They had precisely calculated the amount, down to a fraction of a fish\u27s weight.
Conclusion: Women were far more determined than men when it came to selling fish. They were also using cutting-edge technology to weigh the fish. They were able to read the digital tools. These female fish sellers were mostly between the ages of 35 and 65. As a result, they were mostly at ease when it came to dealing with stockists and customers
Capture Area Compatibility with Map of Fishery Potential Area Based on Chlorophyl-a and Sea Surface Temperature in Aru Sea Waters-Indonesia
The Republic of Indonesia\u27s Fisheries Management Area (Wilayah Pengelolaan Perikanan Negara Republik Indonesia) marine waters is an area with high capture fisheries potential, reaching 20% of the national fish potential. Fishing is often hampered by the lack of information related to Fishing Potential Zones, resulting in reduced efficiency. The solution offered is to utilize geographic information systems (GIS) or remote sensing with aqua MODIS satellite images of chlorophyll-a and sea surface temperature as data for mapping potential fishing zones. The objectives of this research are to understand the operation of purse seines, analyze the influence of sea surface temperature and chlorophyll-a on purse seine catches, and determine the level of suitability of fishing areas with maps of potential fishing zones. To answer the objective, non-experimental based applied research was conducted with a case study approach, survey method and correlation approach to determine the effect of chlorophyll-a and sea surface temperature variables on catches. The tools used hardware, namely laptops and computers with the software needed research are SEADAS, SAGA, QGIS, Ms. Excel and SPSS. Data on the distribution of and chlorophyll-a used in the study are data from Aqua MODIS level 1x1 kilometer resolution downloaded on the page https://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/.
As for the results of statistical testing, there is an influence of chlorophyll-a and sea surface temperature simultaneously and partially on the catch by giving an influence of 73.6%. With the distribution of chlorophyll-a concentration and sea surface temperature in the KM fishing area. The level of conformity of fishing areas with maps of potential fishing zones on fishing trips from December 2020 to April 2021 reached a percentage of conformity of 55.93% with a total catch of 209,360 Kg, indicating the selection of fishing areas by conventional skippers on KM XXX compared to the forecast of fishing areas using aqua MODIS satellite imagery remote sensing technology can be categorized as good even though it only relies on experience and information about fishing areas from other vessels
Potential Edible Film Biocomposite (Canna Starch, Nanochitosan and Fish Oil) for Extend Shelf Life Pangasius Sausages Based on Organoleptic Characteristics, Water Content, and pH: A Review
In general, commercial sausages can only last at room temperature for 1 day, because sausages are made from raw materials that are easily degraded in quality, especially fish sausages where fish are included in perishable foods that are easily degraded due to the high water content in fish which is suitable for microbial growth so a solution is needed to overcome these problems.
