Effect of the Type of Pituitary Extracts and Dose of Synthetic Hormones HCG and Ovaprim on Some Reproductive Characteristics of the Endogenous Catfish of Cameroon Clarias jaensis (Boulenger, 1909) in a Controlled Environment
Aims: Improve the domestication of Clarias jaensis through fry production in a controlled environment.
Place and Duration of the Study: From April to August 2020 in Integrated Aquaculture Common Initiative Group of West in Batie (LN: 5°17\u270\u27\u27-5°18\u2753\u27\u27 and LE: 10°17\u270\u27\u27-10°19\u2731\u27\u27), Sudano-Guinean altitude zone of West Cameroon.
Study Design: 42 females and 15 males of respective weight and size: 177±40.46g, 347.62±111.72g, 29.02±1.74cm and 39.52±12.27cm were used and divided into 7 batches of comparable weights and sizes. Two randomly selected batches were subjected to the female pituitary extract of Clarias jaensis and Toads, five others to the synthetic hormones HCG (doses 3800 and 4000 IU/kg live weight) and Ovaprim (doses of 0.4, 0.5 and 0.6 ml/kg) respectively.
Methodology: Eggs were enumerated by direct observation after fertilization. At the end of the hatching (D1) and of vitelline resorption (D3), the larvae of each experimental lot were counted and measured.
Results: The mean diameter of the oocytes after induction, the relative and absolute fecundities and the fertility rate were higher in batches treated with the hormone HCG at a dose of 4000 IU/kg (2.12±0.1mm; 29,584±5,19 oocytes/g; 4694±620 oocytes and 80.14±9.78%), the lowest values were obtained with HCG at 3800 IU /kg, Ovaprim at 0.4ml/kg, pituitary toad extract and Ovaprim at 0.5 ml/kg (1.93±0.06mm; 15.29 ± 4.22 oocytes/g; 1410±106 oocytes and 55.34±1.51%). The hatchability rate was higher with Ovaprim at 0.6ml/kg, followed by HCG at 4000 IU/kg, However, no significant differences were observed between treatments (P>0.05)."
Conclusion: In a fish farm of intensive production, the use of the hormone Ovaprim dose 0.6 ml/kg or HCG at 4000IU/kg will lead to high results
Comparative Assessment Studies on Different Feed Formulation Methods with Novel Aquafeed Software in African Catfish, Clarias gariepinus (Burchell 1822) Farming in Earthen Ponds
This study investigates the impact of a novel Aquafeed software system on the growth, nutrient utilization, and economic feasibility of production African catfish, Clarias Gariepinus, in earthen ponds. Being a critical species for aquaculture in many continents, optimizing feed management is essential for enhancing productivity and sustainability. Fifty (50) apparently healthy Clarias gariepinus fingerlings weighing (6.50-7.00 g) was allotted into each of the nine hapas and fed for a period of 72 days. During the experimental period, water quality parameters were meticulously monitored to ensure optimal conditions for the growth of Clarias gariepinus. The nutrient composition of the fish carcasses, including crude protein, lipid, ash, moisture, and nitrogen-free extract, were analyzed in to assess their nutritional status. The results revealed that the implementation of the novel FUTA Aquafeed software significantly enhanced the growth and nutrient utilization of Clarias gariepinus fingerlings at (p<0.05) when compared to traditional formulation methods of Pearson square and Winfeed. This software- driven approach provides a more precise and tailored feeding regimen, resulting in improved fish performance. A comprehensive cost analysis underscores the economic advantages of utilizing the Aquafeed software. It demonstrates that the software not only contributes to enhanced fish growth but also reduces production costs, thus improving the overall economic viability of Clarias gariepinus aquaculture in earthen ponds. Aquafeed has the highest amount of water molecule of 14.43%, Protein content of 44.01% for auqafeed, Lipid content from the analyzed result state 19.21% for aquafeed, ash recorded, 17.01%, 17.79% and 16.15% for pearson, and aquafeed respectively, while fiber accumulate 0.63%, 0.78%. 1.00% pearson, windfeed and aquafeed respectively. Nitrogen Free Extract dwindle between 7.50 and 5.09%, all these buttress the fact the FUTA Aquafeeds has better performance than two others
Growth Performance and Nutrient Utilizations of Heterobranchus bidorsalis (Geoffory Saint Hilaire, 1809) Fed on Fermented Sorghum Bran Meal Diets
The growth of aquaculture faces a high cost of feed which is about 60% to 75% of total production costs. An effort should be made to increase the profit by reducing the cost of feed as minimal as possible. This study investigated the growth performance and nutrient utilizations of Heterobranchus bidorsalis fed on fermented sorghum bran meal diets. sorghum bran was fermented at 10% moisture for seven days and samples for proximate analysis were collected on the first, fourth and seventh day. The highest crude protein was obtained in seventh day fermentation with 17.59±1.53% and the lowest was obtained in the zero day (control) with 10.53±1.53. Four isoproteic diets (40% crude protein) were formulated at 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% inclusion level to replace maize meal. The diets were fed to H.bidorsalis for twelve weeks. The experimental fish were fed 5% body weight throughout the experiment. The results obtained from the feeding trial showed that the fish fed on 100% inclusion level shows significance difference (p<0.05) in mean weight gain compared to fish fed on other diets. The highest mean weight gain (MWG) was obtained in the fish fed on 100% inclusion level diet (D5) with 43.39±1.86g and the lowest was obtained in control diet (D1) with 28.97±0.54g. The highest Average Daily Growth (ADG) and Specific Growth Rate (SGR) were obtained in the fish fed on (D5) with 0.52±0.56 and 1.07±0.64 while the lowest were obtained in the fish fed on control diet with 0.35±0.51 and 0.91±0.65 respectively. The nutrient utilizations showed significant difference (p<0.05) in fish fed on (D5) compared to others. The highest feed conversion ratio (FCR) was obtained in fish fed on (D5) with 0.48±0.16 and the lowest was obtained in control with 0.41±0.24. The highest protein intake (PI), protein rating (PR) and protein growth rate (PGR) were obtained in the fish fed on (D5) with 43.12±1.27, 0.52±0.72 and 1.04±0.71 while the lowest were obtained in the fish fed on control with 29.99±0.71, 0.35±0.45 and 1.00±0.53 respectively. The highest Protein Efficiency Ratio (PER) was obtained in the fish fed on (D5) with 1.01±0.07 and the lowest was obtained in the fish fed 50% inclusion level diet (D3) with 0.95±0.62. The highest Apparent Net Protein Utilization (ANPU) and Apparent Net Lipid Utilization (ANLU) were recorded in the fish fed on (D5) with 23.35±0.92 and 161.22±0.26 while the lowest were recorded in the fish fed on (D1) with 14.68±1.05 and 131.27±0.74 respectively. This study revealed the positive effects of incorporating fermented Sorghum bran meal into the diet of H. bidorsalis
Modification of Protein Hydrolyzate of Snakehead Fish as an Ingredient for Instant Seasoning Coto Makassar
Aim: This study aimed to determine the ratio formula for the hydrolyzate of snakehead fish head flour and Instant seasoning flour of Coto Makassar.
Study Design: The experimental design used was using an independent t test (independent t-test) namely (Coto Seasoning Flour: HPKIG Flour) / (TC: THPKIG) as follows A = (TC: THPKIG) = 90% : 10% (b /b) and B= (TC: THPKIG) = 80% : 20% (w/b).
Place and Duration of Study: The research had carried out from May 2018 to August 2019, the production of the hydrolyzate of snakehead fish head protein is Coto Makassar seasoning had committed in the Chemistry Laboratory of Agro-industry Study Program, Pangkep State Agricultural Polytechnic, hydrolyzed snakehead fish head protein flour using the spray dryer drying method had brought about at the Center for Plantation Products in Makassar. The physicochemical analysis had done in the Chemical Laboratory, Department of Fisheries Product Processing Technology, Pangkep State Agricultural Polytechnic. Amino acid profile tests using the Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography (UPLC) method were tested at the Saraswanti Indo Genetec Bogor laboratory. and analysis of volatile compounds had carried out at the Research Center for Flavor Analysis Laboratory of Rice Plants Sukamandi, Subang.
Methodology: The third research is the result of a study of Coto makassar seasoning flour products with the best protein to be applied to Coto Makassar seasoning flour. Applications made were snakehead fish head protein hydrolyzate and Coto seasoning flour treated with a ratio of 100% (Coto Seasoning Flour: HPKIG Flour) / (TC: THPKIG) was as follows (TC: THPKIG)1 = 90%: 10% (w/b) and (TC: THPKIG)2 = 80% : 20% (w/b). The best treatment result was carried out by the preference test on the protein coto seasoning produced, namely the study of the best ratio formula of 20 grams dissolved in boiling water A = 150 mL, B = 200 mL C = 250 mL.
Results: Characteristics of the application of 20% snakehead fish head protein hydrolyzate flour and 80% coto seasoning flour obtained a brightness value of L* 59.23%, hue 67.13%, moisture content 10.19%, ash content 11.48%, protein content 64.20%, 1.26% fat content and 3.35% albumin content. The highest amino acid is glutamic acid 20.68%. Sensory value of taste sample application of fish head protein hydrolyzate in coto Makassar seasoning 20% with the addition of 200 mL of water Assessment criteria 8 (Very like) panelists prefer it because it feels the more spicy sensation
Conclusion: The result of the analysis obtained by the best treatment are the characteristics of the application of 20% hydrolyzed protein from snakehead fish head flour and 80% coto seasoning flour
Dietary Inclusion Influence of Aphrostyrax lepidophyllus Bark on Growth, Feed Nutrients Utilization and Body Composition of Clarias gariepinus juvenile (Burchell, 1822)
Aims: This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary inclusion of the bark of Afrostyrax lepidophyllus on growth and body composition of Clarias gariepinus.
Study Design: This study was carried out from April to May 2022 in the Agro-ecological Farm of Bilone at Obala Lekié Division, Center Region of Cameroon.
Methodology: Juvenile weighing 9.29 ± 0.15 g were divided into four triplicate treatments before being fed with diets containing 0 g (T0 or control), 1 g (T1), 1.5 g (T2) and 2 g (T3) A. lepidophyllus diet for 56 days. Fishes were fed at the rate of 5% body weight and every 14 days, intermediate sampling was done during which juveniles per treatment were counted, measurements were taken on a representative sample and the feeding rate was adjusted. The main water parameters were recorded daily before feeding.
Results: Adding the bark of A. lepidophyllus in the diet significantly enhanced growth, feed nutrients utilization and body composition of juvenile C. gariepinus independent of the inclusion level. Fish fed T3 diet recorded final weight, weight gain (WG), feed conversion ratio (FCR) and protein efficiency ratio (PER) significantly high (P < 0.05) to those recorded in fish fed with the control diet. The same trend was observed with macro-nutrient retention as compared to the control.
Conclusion: This study clearly showed that dietary inclusion of the bark of A. lepidophyllus powder improves growth performances, feed nutrients utilization and body composition of juveniles C. gariepinus
Economic Study of Resource Management Silver Pomfret (Pampus argentus) and Barramundi (Lates calcarifer) in Cirebon District, West Java - Indonesia

Effects of the Construction of the Souapiti Hydroelectric Dam on the Ichthyofauna of the Konkouré River - Case of the Sub-prefecture of Tondon - Republic of Guinea
The present study carried out during the period from October 3, 2020 to December 28, 2020 on the Konkouré River in the sub-prefecture of Tondon aimed at evaluating the consequences of the construction of the Souapiti hydroelectric dam on the ichthyofauna of the Konkouré River in order to make concrete proposals for a sustainable management of the ichthyological fauna.
During this study, the consultation with the managers revealed the presence of 4 hydroelectric dams on the Konkouré (Garafiri, Kaléta, Souapiti and Amaria in progress). The number of professional fishermen before the construction of the dam was 201 and 198 after the dam. The number of semi-professional fishermen before the construction of the dam was 157 and 276 after the construction of the dam. The numbers of boats and fishing gear before the dam are 39 and 34 respectively, after the dam they are 113 and 103. There are 2 fishing seasons, a good season where the fishing intensity increases from June to July with 32 and 30kg of fish respectively, and a bad season from December to January with 1 and 5kg of fish respectively. After the construction of the dam, there was a decrease in catches during the good season (30 and 26kg) and the bad season (1 and 3kg). The ichthyological inventory carried out before the construction of the dam identified 34 species divided into 12 families, of which the Cichlidae were the most represented (7 species). After the dam, a total of 16 species divided into 7 families, of which the Cyprinidae were the most dominant (5 species). The sampling carried out during the experimental fisheries allowed the identification of 312 individuals in 6 stations and the spatio-temporal situation of the Konkouré River to be regressed from an environmental and ichthyofaunal point of view in the study area.  
Processing and Sensory Quality of Dried Rebon Shrimps from the Katapang Doyong Coastal Area, Pangandaran Regency
This research aims to analyze the production process and organoleptic quality of dried shrimp produced in Katapang Doyong, Pangandaran-West Java, Indonesia. The research method used was a survey method. The research procedure was conducted in two stages. The first stage observed the process of making dried shrimp products, and the second stage tested the organoleptic quality of the dried shrimp produced. The analysis of dried shrimp production was conducted by observing the production site and interviewing workers and business owners. The organoleptic quality testing was performed using scoring tests. The research results concluded that the production process of dried shrimp in Lapang Katapang Doyong, Pangandaran consisted of three stages, namely cleaning, drying through the sun-drying process, and packaging. The organoleptic quality of the dried shrimp produced averaged above 8. Overall, it meets the requirements of food quality and safety as stipulated in the National Standardization Agency, with a minimum organoleptic value of 7 for dried shrimp
Antibacterial Activity of Star Fruit Extract against Vibrio cholera Isolated from Tuna Fish
Aims: This study aims to determine the effect of ethanol concentration and extraction temperature on the characteristics of star fruit extract, that content of bio active, compounds (polyphenol, flavonoid, alkaloids, saponin, and tannin of star fruit) can inhibit bacterial activity as a preservative for tuna.
Study Design: This research was carried out in 2 stages, namely: (1) determine the ethanol concentration and temperature to produce the best extract and (2) determine the antibacterial power of the extract against Vibrio cholera - BSFIL Randomized block design (RBD) with two factors, namely 1 (ethanol concentration 96% and 70%) and 2 (temperature extraction 30ºC, 40ºC and 50ºC. and analysis of variance with Tukey’s honestly significant difference was used to analyze the data.
Place and Duration of Study: This research was conducted at Food Technology laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture Technology, Udayana University on November – April 2022.
Results: The best quality (P=0.05) of star fruit extract by 96% ethanol at 30ºC, such as: yield (77%), total flavonoid (7.10%), total tannin (0.914 mg QE /g), total acids (34.24%). and with a concentration of 80% the extract was able to inhibit the growth of Vibrio cholera (VC-BSFIL) with very strong criteria (inhibition zone diameter: 20.78 mm)
Effect of Amphipods (Grandierella megnae) Density on the Growth and Survival Rate of Mangrove Crab (Scylla tranquebarica)
This study aims to determine the effect of amphipod density on the growth, survival and molting of mangrove crabs (Scylla tranquebarica).The research was conducted in the Installation of Tiger Shrimp Hatchery (ITSH), located Lawallu Village, Soppeng Riaja District, Barru Regency, South Sulawesi, from May to June 2022. There was 45 mangrove crabs, with an average weight of 0.04 ± 0.005 g and a carapace width of 5.4 ± 0.1 mm which were obtained from local hatcheries. The maintenance container is a glass jar containing 0.5 liters of water, each jar is filled with one crablet. The treatments tested were differences in amphipods density, namely: A) 20 ind/0.5 L, B) 30 ind/0.5 L, C) 40 ind/0.5 L, feeding frequency is once a day for first 10 days and twice a day at 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM for next 20 days. Parameters observed were growth weight (GW) and growth carapace width (GC), specific growth rate-weight (SGR-W) and specific growth carapace- width (SGR-C), survival rate (SR) and number of molting (NM). Using a completely randomized design with three treatments and three replications, each replication consisted of 5 crabs. Data were analyzed for variance and Duncan\u27s further test, physical and chemical parameters of water were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that amphipod density had an effect on GW, GC, SGR-W and SGR-C, but had no effect on SR and NM. Amphipod densities of 20 - 40 ind/0.5 L produced good survival and a large number of molting, but amphipod densities of 30 ind/0.5 L were more efficient for the growth of mangrove crabs
