Social Consciousness and Indifferent Business Postures
Businesses are created, sustained and expanded to gain more profit to the stake holders particularly the business owners. Social Responsibility of Business is talked about loudly, but there is lack of awareness of ‘Social Consciousness’. At the grass root level business practices are in line with unscrupulous political and bureaucratic maneuvers to make a fast buck out of any situation of discomfort of people at large. Social consciousness of business is of recent origin and many American and foreign businesses are aware of the importance of this. India, which has contributed so much by Vedic and Upanishad literature to raise the level of consciousness has not lived up to raising consciousness of business to this level. The recent example is the ‘Fire’ accident at the Chennai silks building. An estimated one million Liters of water was consumed to control the fire at the cost of starving the parched city dwellers and depriving them of drinking water. When the whole city is reeling under shortage of drinking water is it not a moral responsibility of the owners of business to make some alternate arrangements or at least offer an apology? Where is the social consciousness gone? The subject matter of this article is the ‘Social Consciousness’
Assessment of Loan Repayment Capacity of Cooperative Farmers in Bayelsa State, Nigeria
The study assessed loan repayment capacity of cooperative farmers in Bayelsa State between 2009 and 2014. It specifically examined the socio-economic profile of the cooperative farmers, estimated the rate of loan repayment by borrowers and determined the loan recovery strategies of the farmers’ cooperatives societies. A multistage sampling technique was used to select 200 respondents in the study area. Structured questionnaire and interview schedule were used to obtain data from the respondents. Data were analyzed using percentages, means, multiple regression, loan repayment indices, t-test and F-test. The result showed that 80% of the loans granted to the beneficiaries were repaid back while 19.84% of the borrowers had their loan outstanding. Farm size and years of cooperative membership were found to have a positive effect on loan repayment capacity. The amount of loan received and net farm income recorded positive t-value and was statistically significant. It was recommended that farmers be encouraged to join cooperative societies so as to take advantage of economies of scale
Economic Status of the Aged Population: An Overview of Indian Literature
This paper reviews the economics status of aged persons in India. Aged Persons will be one of the major policy concerns of the twenty-first century. Population ageing will affect every single individual of the society in many ways. The review analysed economic status of the aged persons based on their family status, income status before and after retirement, saving and borrowing status of the aged persons in India. As the country is ageing, this will affect the economy, because the economic needs of the society will be different in an ageing society. Every ageing nation suffers from over dependency and lesser participation of younger Human Resources in productive processes. It is felt that the retired ageing populations start using the nation’s resources for social security needs, which is estimated to be a big burden on the exchequer of the state. Thus, the impact of ageing on Indian economy is multi-faced, which includes production, consumption, labour force and social expenditure on retirement. The developed world has already witnessed this and is looking for options to overcome this problem. However, this trend clearly reveals that aged persons will be a very big issue to the future society and vast resources need to be directed towards the support and care of the aged population. Thus, the present paper suggests the researchers in the field of aged population and their economics status to bring various researches for improving their economics status and assure the social status ofaged population

Attitudes Shape and Sustain Achievement
Business environment is dynamic and organizations cope with these changes in different ways depending on their products and market requirements. More and more organizations today are driven by the profit orientation, rightly so, and organizational achievement is measured in terms of returns to shareholders and stake holder interests. Whereas the stated objectives of non-profits are laudable what baffles one is the attitude and orientation of these organizations and people working for them. One can easily understand that the orientations of organizations differ with respect to their objectives. But there is one constant factor in all these. That is, the attitude, that drives achievement orientation. But it is difficult to sustain attitudes because of the environmental changes in culture and social acceptance factors. This paper explores the role of attitudes in sustaining achievement orientation that will propel organizations to growth. An incisive analysis of successful organizations reveal their constant attitude towards a welfare organization has propelled them to a position of prominence. This research paper will explore the kinds of Employer/Employee attitudes that will propel future organizations to growth and sustenance
Anti Leishmanial Activities of Some Anti-Depressant Drugs and Antifungal Drugs
Leishmanisis is wide range, worldwide, without drug, vaccine, secticide and has not sterileimmunity and efforts in this field have not been successful.Leishmaniasis is a complex vectorborne disease caused by different species of Leishmania. It affects at least 12 million people worldwide. Leishmaniasis is commonly associated with poor economic conditions and immunecompromised situations like HIV co infection. There is increasing in drug resistance tocommonly used therapeutics as well as lack of vaccine program. This leads to a perpetual searchfor a new drug for leishmaniasis. This review fundamentally deals with some antidepressantdrugs, and antifugal drugs showing the anti leishmanial activities. The antidepressant drugs are Imipramine, Sertraline, Ketanserin and Mianserin. Imipramine being a Tri Cyclic Antidepressant(TCA) drug kills Leishmania donovani elevating IL-12/IL-10 ratio. Sertraline belonging to theselective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) drugs, removes parasite loads from spleen and liverprobably by declining cytoplasmic ATP consumption. Ketanserin is a serotonin receptor (5-HT2A/2C) antagonist that kills both amastigotes and promastigotes probably due to inhibition of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase (HMGR). Mianserin belonging to the TCAgroup of drug, kills both promastigote and amastigote parasites also probably due to theinhibition of HMGR. The present review will give the summarized information about puttingsome old antidepressant drugs for the treatment of another disease like Leishmania. Manytopical antifungals have been available, two important antibiotics: amphotericin B to deal withsystemic mycosis and griseofulvin to supplement attack on dermatophtes . A number ofantifungal agents have been investigated in a rodent model for their parasiticidal activity againstvisceral leishmaniasis. These drugs have been administered intravenously both alone, and inconjunction with liposomes. All the compounds tested: griseofulvin, 5-fluorocytosine, andamphotericin B—together with the known antileishmanial drug pentamidine—displayedenhanced therapeutic activity when given in liposomal form. In the case of amphotericin, liposomes composed of hydrogenated lecithin, or containing cholesterol or ergosterol in themembrane, were least toxic to the mammalian host, and had the highest therapeutic capability

Value Relevance and Users Confidence in Post International Financial Reporting Standards Adoption Era of Nigerian Banks
Conclusions from the existing studies on IFRS adoption and value relevance were characterized by conflicting results and mixed findings. This study attempts to evaluate the impact of adoption of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) on the value relevance of financial information of Nigerian Deposit Money Banks. A mixed research approach was adopted for this study. To analyze the secondary data correlational research design was employed using Edward, Bells and Olhson (EBO) model. Primary data through structured questionnaire administered on a sample of 200 randomly selected preparers and users of banks financial statements was also used to provide alternative evidence. Data were analyzed using descriptive and econometric approaches. General least square (GLS) multiple regression analyses were employed to analyze the panel data based on random effect model using SPSS 17 statistical tool. The results from data analysis showed r calculated of 0.69 indicating a significant relationship between adoption of IFRS variables and value relevance indexes in the NDMBs, from the analysis of questionnaire responses. The relationship, using EBO model, between the variables used for post IFRS adoption analysis shows that share price (SP) is positively correlated with earning per share (EPS), change in earnings per share (CEPS) and book value per share (BVPS) at 0.368, 0.096 and 0.103 respectively meaning that SP and EPS have higher positive relationship but lower with CEPS and BVPS. Invariably, higher earnings attract higher SP which automatically enhances the confidence of investors in the financial statements after the adoption. The pre-IFRS R-squared is 0.35 while post-IFRS R-squared is 0.16 showing that post IFRS financial information has a weak value relevance. However, the elements that made up financial information are not value relevant in post IFRS adoption thereby giving a low cumulative relationship to share price. The study suggests concerted efforts by banks to strengthen the value relevance and improve users’ confidence of their financial reports since IFRS adoption has been made mandatory
Simplification of the European Model of Management Excellence
The current international context requires the modernization of the naval sector towards what has been called Naval Industry 4.0, which has already been successfully implemented by some countries such as North Korea. In order to remain competitive with those countries, a deep reconsideration of the engineering of the whole value chain must be done. Thus, the optimization of each one of the naval sector elements is highly important. These changes also include the auxiliary industry needed for a dynamic dockyard. More specifically, the working and management model of such industry has to be updated and improve its efficiency by involving business models that guarantee the management excellence. In this sense, one management model that has become a reference for many organizations is the European Model of Excellence. In this work, we present a simplification of this model, which would allow implementing it in SMEs.
Exploring the Relationship Between Leadership and Organizational Innovation

Innovation in achieving its goals and objectives depends on the leaders of the organization and their leadership styles. This study aimed to investigate the impact of Managerial Leadership Styles on organizational innovation. To achieve this aim, a questionnaire was developed and distributed to a sample of 103 subjects in the public banks in Sirte. Data was analyzed using SPSS. In order to test the hypotheses of the study, Pearson’s Correlation coefficients were used to determine the direction and strength of the relationship between independent variables and dependent variable. Two types of leadership styles, namely, autocratic and democratic were found to have direct relationship with the organizational innovation. The results show existence a different leadership styles in these banks, and the impact of democratic style was strongly positive to the organizational innovation. The autocratic style showed negative impact. This implies that democratic leadership is deemed suitable for organizational innovation in the government Banks under study. Implications of the findings were discussed further. Based on those results, the researcher recommend reinforcing democratic style, and some corrective procedures should be applied on autocratic
