CONTEMPORARY MOVIE TAGLINE: THE SERVANT THAT RULES

    Get PDF
In contrast to a great variety of studies discussing the rhetoric of the contemporary print advertising slogan, this article considers the major functions and historical outline of the movie slogan (tagline) and the discourse strategies it employs to achieve its intended effect – to catch the viewer’s attention. More than 900 original movie taglines of 21st-century Eurasian films presented at the largest international festivals are studied. The classification of taglines (annotative – challenge) based on their dominant function and discourse is proposed. In addition to a comprehensive description, the paper dwells on the relationship between the tagline and the elements, framing the film, uncovers the preferences of cinemagoers, and shows what additional information about the film is contained in the tagline, and how the ideas and messages are conveyed

AN INTEGRATED RISK MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AS AN EFFECTIVE TOOL FOR DEALING WITH A PANDEMIC SITUATION

    Get PDF
The pandemic situation caught us off guard. Although many organizations have strategic crisis management plans and ISO 31000-certified risk management systems, many SMEs are unable to anticipate risks and, worse, do not know the basic management methods and tools that classify such risks, and create the conditions for their mitigation. The subject of our paper will be to define and classify risks and relationships in risk management as an integrated system

THE INEQUALITY IN SOCIETY AND A MULTIPOINT EXTENSION OF NASH BARGAINING PROBLEM

    Get PDF
We use the microeconomic model of supply and demand of financial resources and investment opportunities, in which each contract can be interpreted as a specific Nash bargaining problem, where payoffs are expressed as income from the use of investment opportunities. We identify and describe the phenomenon of investing in a social position. A player investing in a social position can achieve a payoff distribution that is an alternative to the game associated with solving the Nash bargaining problem. Subsequently, we consider games in which players can react to the choice of alternative, providing as a multipoint extension of the Nash bargaining problem. These reactions lead to numerous non-trivial tasks that we describe and interpret in terms of real problems associated with the distribution of social wealth. We analyze games of positional investments with retaliation, games of positional investment with repetition, and games associated with reforms that allow players to expand the area of potential investment opportunities

OPTIMIZATION OF PUBLIC EXPENDITURE MANAGEMENT FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF CONSOLIDATING THE RIGHT TO A DECENT LIVING

    Get PDF
The present study highlights the need and obligation of the state in ensuring a decent standard of living for its citizens. Needless to say, personal well-being depends directly on the person’s own will and effort and is achieved as a matter of priority through the personal work of each and family itself, but not everyone is able to ensure one’s material well-being and decent living through one’s own work, which is why the state must be involved in order to improve the standard of living of the population, since both the constitutional norm and international norms establish this fact. The obligation in question is also a consequence of the \u27new vision of ensuring citizens\u27 rights and freedoms not only through the individual efforts of each state, but also through the collective efforts of the international community\u27. The standard of living of citizens in the Republic of Moldova is extremely low. Low income levels and increased risks of poverty are caused by limited economic opportunities, and inefficient management of public spending. The income of the population, remains the lowest in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, being about 40% of the average recorded in the countries of the EU

    Get PDF
Four fullerenes with seven heptagonal rings are considered. The first one contains 130 carbons, the second one 134 carbons. Both additional fullerenes has 192 carbons. The fullerene with 130 carbons satisfies the isolated pentagon rule, the fullerene with 134 carbons, does not satisfy the isolated pentagon rule

MICROSCOPIC ANALYSIS OF FIBER MATERIALS FOR PAPER PRODUCTION AND THEIR SHEET-FORMING PROPERTIES

    Get PDF
The fibrous materials used in paper production are obtained by chemical processing of wood or straw. In most cases, fibrous materials of plant origin are used for paper production. These are the different types of cellulose, high yield cellulose, semi-cellulose, different types of wood pulp and secondary fibrous material. The microscopic method is used in paper production to study the structure and size of the source fibres, to control the grinding process and to determine the fibre composition of the paper. In order to use numerous types of paper, different fibrous materials are used in a certain ratio. When choosing them, the sheet-forming properties of fibrous materials are taken into account, which together determine their ability to provide the necessary properties of the paper. The aim of the present work is to present a microscopic analysis of the condition of the fibrous materials, some peculiarities in the composition and structure, as well as their connections with leaf-forming properties in the formation of a paper sheet. Studying and knowing these properties makes it possible to obtain paper with certain qualities

COMPOSITE ZINC COATINGS WITH POLYMERIC MODIFIED CUO NANOPARTICLES AGAINST CORROSION AND BIOFOULING OF STEEL

    Get PDF
Biofouling and corrosion are well-known problems in the marine industries. In this study, the role of copper oxide (CuO) nanoparticles on the biofouling and corrosion performance of composite (hybrid) zinc coating on steel is examined. A cationic polyelectrolyte polyethylenimine (PEI) is used to stabilize the CuO suspension before particles electrodeposition on a steel substrate. The size and charge density of the PEI coated CuO nanoparticles are followed using light scattering methods and microelectrophoresis. The polymeric modified CuO nanoparticles are electrodeposited on the steel (cathode) surface at pH 9.0 aiming to minimize the effect of aggregation in the suspension and dissolution of the CuO nanoparticles. Standard zinc coating is then electrodeposited on the CuO coated steel sample from a zinc sulfate solution at pH 4.5-5.0. Distribution of CuO nanoparticles at the steel surface and morphology of the composite zinc coating are studied by scanning electron microscopy. The protective properties of this system are investigated in a model corrosive medium of 5% NaCl solution by application of Potentiodynamic polarization (PDP) curves and Polarization resistance (Rp) measurements. The results obtained allow to conclude that the embedded polymeric modified CuO particles ensure better corrosion resistance and protective ability compared to the ordinary zinc

ECOLOGY AND SAFETY IN THE PRACTICE: MANAGEMENT OF SIGNIFICANT TREES IN URBAN ENVIRONMENT

    Get PDF
This paper deals with applying of acoustic tomograph as support tool to ecological assessment of veteran trees in urban environment. Very large old trees provide many ecosystem services in urban parks, historical gardens, and green urban areas. But, sometimes, very large old trees can be considered as a threat for safety of people, visiting green areas. This is because of very large trees can be destroyed in the tree trunk without visible signs of wood destruction inside the tree body. So, acoustic tomography can be used as very effective support tool for ecological assessment of stability and health of veteran trees in urban environment. This paper presents basic methodological approaches to acoustic tomography of veteran trees under some examples from environmental practice in the Czech Republic
