KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT DIAGNOSIS TOOL FOR A COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE: DISTANCE LEARNING SCHOOL CASE AT UNIVERSIDAD MILITAR NUEVA GRANADA
Knowledge management for the design of a community of practice [CoP] requires the analysis of several factors that allow the creation of value, the optimization of existing resources. It also requires the identification of primary sources of knowledge, as well as determining the missing ones to consult them from the participants\u27 perceptions. Thus, the topics that must be discussed to achieve the goal negotiation and participation are prioritized. For the elaboration of the proposal of a diagnosis tool, 81 articles that report empirical and documentary evidence were analyzed in which key variables for creating a community of practice were recorded and contextualized in the distance learning school from a public university; in addition to organizing them from five sources where knowledge is generated, such as the individual, facts or actions, influence or effect, solutions, and innovations. Furthermore, possible evidence will be presented, including documentary, perception, and performance evidence, as part of the quality assurance systems in higher education. In the case of the distance learning school, it was found that some aspects of the strategy implementation and dialogue must be analyzed and adjusted. Documentary relevance is recognized as a starting point, but construction and progress must create a collaborative learning environment that adds value to its participants
CHALLENGES IN ATTRACTING INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS TO JAPAN
Japan is an attractive study abroad destination for international students worldwide. However, there are still challenges in attracting international students and internationalization, especially for the universities not enlisted among the top-tier universities, and universities which locate outside metropolitan areas. Despite relative advantages of quality of education, affordable cost, student- friendly environment, and exotic region-specific culture, Japanese universities still face certain challenges in attracting international students. We conducted a literature review to investigate challenges that may hinder attracting international students to Japan\u27s universities. The data showed that there are challenges in maintaining academic ranking and internationalization level, diversifying the student body, securing revenues for operation, regional popularity and disparity, strengthening the supporting system, maintaining cross-cultural exchange and communication, mobilizing scholarship, supporting employment and a part-time job, online transformation, etc. that may influence the efforts for effectively attracting international students
SUBJECTIVITY IN POST-ATTACK PRESIDENTIAL SPEECHES: HOLLANDE\u27S AND
In this paper, we propose a linguistic analysis of the post-attack speeches of Presidents François Hollande and Emmanuel Macron, which were delivered in the aftermath of the international terrorism wave that has challenged Europe since 2015. The discourse analysis here conducted demonstrates that the political and social activities following these murderous events are based on a highly emotionally- charged language, both at the micro-textual and macro-textual level. The analysis shows that the presidential utterances contain discourse markers, such as personal pronouns or deictic elements, that trace the speaker\u27s presence as well as a subjective modality expressed by adverbs, modal verbs, and subjective words that communicate the ethos and pathos of the speaker to the addressee. The paper aims to highlight not only the discursive aspects common to both post-attack official speeches; but also the differences in the ethical approach of the two Presidents
MAINTAINING HERITAGE LANGUAGE AND NATIONAL IDENTITY IN THE FAMILIES IN THE LATVIAN DIASPORA
As one of the European most mobile European nations due to migration, Latvia provides rich opportunities to trace identity changes through the revelation of an individual\u27s experience. The study analyses the experience of transmitting Latvian as a heritage language in the emigrant families, emphasizing the importance of language as a carrier of ethnic identity, and with a special focus on language and identity transmission, viewed from a multi-generational perspective. The peculiarity of individual memories and experiences during generational change opens a new view of historical events as impulses for human reaction and action. From the theoretical point of view, the data is approached with reference to P.Bourdieu`s view on language skills as linguistic capital, a form of cultural capital. Knowledge of the language of the host country is one of the key skills for successful integration. In turn, knowledge of the mother tongue is an important dimension of ethnic identity and belonging and many of the migrants try to nourish their ethnic identity by preserving traditions and maintaining their mother tongue in the family and in the nearest social network. The data confirms the most important factors contributing to the preservation of the heritage language of emigrant children are parents who speak their mother tongue at home, as well as friends of the same ethnic background and supportive ethnic networks. The paper uses a combination of both large-scale quantitative longitudinal survey data and in-depth interviews with Latvian emigrants from the Latvian National Oral History Archive
TABLE OF CLASSES OF VERBS DEVELOPED AT THE SPRÅKSKOLEN RUSSISK.NO &METODIUS
Most beginner’s book in Russian as a foreign language (my own beginner\u27s book being an exception), fail to introduce students to the subject of verb classes. As result, even advanced students tend to fail to understand that forms such as «рисоваю» are incorrect. We believe that this and similar errors can and should be prevented, and that this can be done starting from level A1. To this aim, we have developed a table of verb classes, part of which we have implemented in our textbook for level A1, with explanations and exercises for this level. For higher levels, we gave lectures on verb classes using mentioned table, several of which are available on our YouTube channel. The table of verb classes is included in our book «Russisk morfologi» (“Russian morphology”). We very briefly touched on this table last year, when we participated at a conference here in Burgas where we presented the application and presentation of grammatical materials in our textbooks for РКИ for Norwegians. This year we will present this table in detail. We will show you how it looks and explain the principles behind its organization and presentation of verb classes, as well as share our experiences with regard to how our students have received it and our own evaluation of the degree to which the table has helped our students
CIRCUMSTANCES PATTERNS OF ANIMAL-VEHICLE COLLISIONS (AVCS) WITH PERSONAL INJURIES IN LITHUANIA
Animal-vehicle collisions (AVCs) are a major traffic safety concern since they result in substantial economic and medical costs when causing property damages and injuring or killing humans and animals (Jägerbrand Antonson & Ahlström 2018). Recent studies evaluated nonfatal human injuries from animal-vehicle collisions but information on fatal animal-vehicle collisions is limited. This restricted our understanding of when, where, and how frequently injuring, humans animal-vehicle collisions occur, and whether these patterns differentiate from those for total AVCs. We found that over the last 7 years (2013-2019) more than 18,222 collisions with animals (both wild and domestic species) occurred on the roads of Lithuania where 6 people were killed and 158 were injured. Most human-injured collisions occurred in dry-main roads, at nighttime (period of ambient darkness from sunset to sunrise), during the summer months, and in clear weather. In Lithuania, collisions between moose and vehicles cause the highest number of injuries compared to collisions with other animal species. This data is important as it provides insight into factors that may heighten the risk of AVC
AN OVERVIEW OF STUDIES ON “RIPARIAN ECOSYSTEMS” IN TURKEY (2010–2021)
Riparian ecosystems are important areas of energy and nutrient passages along rivers and streams, between terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, where a large number of species live. However, there are contradictions in the literature regarding the concept of riparian area and its awareness, scientific studies focus only on ecological effects, anthropogenic effects and socio-economic dimensions are not at sufficient level and the concept of "riparian" is often not included among key words. In this study, document analysis method is used as the qualitative research methods. The scientific studies which are directly or indirectly associated with Riparian ecosystems were analyzed in Turkey. A general evaluation has been made about the findings obtained within the scope of the study. For riparian ecosystems, the studies’ sufficiency level interpreted held in Turkey, recommendations on how to correct the deficiencies have been developed. It is thought that it will make great contributions to the emergence of new research questions and the development of scientific project topics to increase the level of knowledge on the issue of recognition Riparian ecosystems in Turkey with this study
SAMUEL ORMIS AND HIS CONCEPT OF MORAL EDUCATION
The author of the article deals with the personality of an important Slovak pedagogue and a figure of the Slovak national movement in the second half of the 19th century, Samuel Ormis and his concept of moral education. During his pedagogical work, he significantly contributed to the development of girls’ education and to a significant extent also contributed to the publication of books and textbooks for the needs of Slovak education in the given period. He significantly contributed to the establishment of self-help associations and cash registers among the Slovak population of Hungary and at the same time showed intense interest in the field of natural sciences. The author focused on the analysis of Ormis’ most important pedagogical work Education for Seminarists and Parents, in which he dealt with many issues of pedagogy and education. His work has been evaluated by many other authors
THE PREMISE OF SUCCESSFUL MATHEMATICS STUDIES
In today’s changing world, each person needs to acquire a variety of skills and abilities that will be useful to improve throughout life. It should be noted that in many cases the readiness of a novice student for mathematics studies is insufficient. The article presents results of the qualitative research on first-year students studying mathematics at Kauno kolegija/UAS. The analysed students’ reflections are discussed, in which semantic findings are distinguished that allow to detect and determine significant factors of successful mathematics studies. The focus is on the development of students’ mathematical literacy, mathematical reasoning, and mathematical competence; the impact of internal and external motivation, the importance of students’ mutual cooperation, the importance of the teacher’s ability to create an inclusive environment as a prerequisite for successful studies. The harmonious interaction of all these factors, can be considered as the premise of fruitful mathematics studies
DIGITAL MEDIA IN SCHOOLS AND UNIVERSITIES: FIRST STEPS FOR A COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE WITH DIGITAL VIDEO ANALYSIS
The Corona pandemic makes it clear where societies need to develop. In the education sector, the focus is, particularly on digitization. In Germany, only 25% of schoolteachers have already been prepared for working with digital media during their training. Technical and didactic competencies, also reflexive skills about volitional beliefs about digital media, one\u27s own media habitus, and the willingness to adopt new teaching paradigms with cooperative forms of teaching and learning are considered essential prerequisites for modern digitally supported teaching. Closely related to this is the teachers’ attitude towards inclusive and internally differentiated teaching. Digital media can provide significant technical and didactic assistance in this regard. The proposed concept was related to an interdisciplinary research and teaching project (DEGREE 4.0), funded by the federal government (BMBF). In close cooperation with schools, student teachers practice their media behavior technically and didactically, test themselves in school teaching situations, and learn to reflect on their teaching behavior. Their reflections are evaluated in terms of content analysis by working with a video platform. In the long term, the plan is to develop a "community of practice". Schools and universities mutually benefit from each other and agree on a joint theory base that is aligned with the requirements of current digital teaching at school and university and mutually accepted
