    Get PDF
A simple and fast HPLC-DAD method has been developed for separation and quantification of two glycoalkaloids, alpha-solanine and alpha-chaconine, in potatoes. Separation of the analytes was performed on a Shimadzu Shim-pack GIST C18 column (250mm x 4mm I.D., 5μm particle size) applying isocratic elution of the mobile phase consisting of 30% (v/v) acetonitrile and 70 % KH2PO4 (20 mM and pH 6.57). The flow rate on the mobile phase was 1 mL/min and the detection of solanine and chaconine was performed on a wavelength of 204 nm. The retention time of α-solanine was 12.8 min and for α-chaconine 14.6 min. Liquid-liquid extraction of analytes was performed from dehydrated potatoes using methanol-acetic acid (95:5, v/v), followed by SPE with Sep-Pak C18 columns. Satisfactory results for the repeatability and accuracy of the method confirmed that the extraction method as well as HPLC method are appropriate for analysis of alpha-solanine and alpha- chaconine in potatoes samples

STUDY OF ALTERNATIVE METHODS TO MITIGATE THE ECOBIOTOTOXICOLOGY OF LEACHATE WATER

    Get PDF
The largest official municipal solid waste disposal site (SWDS) in Georgia has been serving the capital since 2011. In 2018, a reverse osmosis system was installed at the landfill for the treatment of leachate water, the capacity of which was 12 m3/day, which was insufficient, and accordingly, it was out of order at the end of 2018. At present, since it is not possible to clean the leachate for discharge into the sewage system in accordance with the legal norms, the leachate is collected in open tanks, where sedimentation takes place and then returns to the body of the landfill (circulates), which on the one hand partially limits the pollution of surface waters, and on the other hand accelerates the process of decomposition of mixed waste, but also daily enriches leachate water with both chemical and biological toxins. The goal of our research was to determine the dynamics of the microbiological indicators of the leachate water generated at the largest SWDS in Georgia during the years 2022-2023 and alternative complex treatment of leachate, through which the microbiological indicators will be reduced to the norm without additional measures. The carbon sorbents of different origins and fractions (under static conditions) were used in the framework of the research to treatment of highly polluted waters. It was determined that the sorption of the studied microbiological indicators (Total Coliform, E. coli, Enterococci) on the example of the carbon sorbents used by us is fluctuating and highly dependent on the size of the sorbent, and it should be noted that the optimal result is obtained when using a microsorbent and the degree of sorption of all three microbiological indicators reaches 98 %

    Get PDF
The Republic of Albania is very rich in surface and underground water. In the territory of Albania there are thermal springs, which have been known by the inhabitants since ancient times. The thermal springs in my country are in Bilaj (Fushe Kruja), Bellova (Diber), Kozana, Hidrait (Elbasan), Dimal, Benja in the Langarica canyon (Permet), Vromoneri, Postenani (Leskovik), and Mamuras. Some of these thermal springs have been known by Albanians since the time of the Roman Empire. The geological construction of the Albanian soil plays a special role in the thermal waters, which are influenced by the properties of the rock composition of the Albanian subsoil. In addition to geological construction, relief and climatic conditions, a significant factor that guides the use of thermal waters is the way of management by man. The purpose of the study, based on a detailed analysis of thermal water springs in Albania, is to identify the way they can be used and well-managed to serve as a development instrument in curative tourism in our country. This article presents the curative tourism potentials, the forms and dimensions of their use so far, but also the need for drawing up strategies for sustainable development by the central and local government. In order to carry out this study, field observations were carried out and it was used the literature of the field. Consultations with specialists (water engineers) were conducted well as interviews with doctors who work in curative centers, visitors of these centers and owners of hotels located near thermal springs. Thermal spring waters contain sulphur, magnesium, calcium and other minerals. These mineral waters have curative properties for various rheumatic diseases, skin diseases, nervous system diseases, respiratory diseases, etc. The findings of the study will be at the service of central and local institutions, tourist operators, and interested communities, with the aim of involving all actors in making efforts for strategic intervention in areas that offer the possibility for the development of curative tourism

    Get PDF
The influence of creative destruction on business activity and economic development is enormous. In the era of speedy innovations and technological progress it contributes to the overall process of transformation of economic activities. Meanwhile, creative destruction challenges also the social dimension by destroying obsolete jobs and creating new ones. The major challenge for countries with low levels of innovation is to manage to implement the requisites of creative destruction and increase the levels of innovation while at the same time balance the income levels in specific regions. This can be done through developing mechanisms for increasing skills and the acquisition of new competencies among the local population. Regional development plans need to envisage the implementation of innovations in parallel to the education of the human resource. This paper discusses the main factors, contributing to inequality as a result of creative destruction and explains the importance of increasing education, skills and qualification levels

EXPERIENCE OF STUDENTS FROM DIFFERENT TRAINING PROGRAMS IN CO- TEACHING THAT INTEGRATE PHYSICAL ACTIVITY INTO LEARNING IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

    Get PDF
This action research was conducted in the qualitative paradigm. The study examines pre-service teachers\u27 experiences from co-teaching "movement-based learning" (MBL) programs in elementary schools. Ten students from the "Physical Education Training Program" (PETP) and thirty from the "Elementary School Teaching Training Program" (ESTP) participated in the research. The research rationale is based on the concept that Movement is a natural way for children to explore and learn. Using the natural connection between movement and learning by incorporating physical activity into lessons makes learning more fascinating and effective. The research tools included: Twenty observations of lecturers in the lessons taught by the pre-service teacher, a reflective diary that students wrote after each lesson, and semi-structured interviews with ten students. The research questions were: What are the experiences of a pre-service teacher from co-teaching “movement-based learning” in elementary school? How can integrating movement into learning improve pupils\u27 understanding of academic materials? Analysis of the research findings raised three themes: students’ satisfaction with the co- teaching experience and the contribution to the pupils; a sense of success and self-realization from the benefits for children with learning disabilities and a sense of empowerment with the mentors\u27 positive evaluation during the co-teaching MBL.” It was found that the students\u27 experience of co-teaching the MBL was mainly an experience of satisfaction, empowerment, and professional development. The research conclusions indicate that co-teaching promotes quality integrative teaching. Also, there is beyond the importance of the health aspect of physical activity; it contributes to active and effective learning for pupils in general and pupils with learning disabilities in particular. This study hopes to contribute insights to students and teachers to improve the quality of elementary education and promote movement-based teaching methodologies

UNDERSTANDING MIXED REALITY KNOWLEDGE AMONG LATIN AMERICAN SECONDARY EDUCATION TEACHERS

    Get PDF
The development of emergent technologies is a fact that is no longer questioned, but this is not the case when it comes to the views, beliefs, and knowledge of educators about them. Through an ex post facto method, the aim of the present study is to determine the current knowledge of a group of Mexican and Dominican Republic teachers about Mixed Reality. Through the use of a questionnaire as the data collection instrument, and with a sample of 380 subjects, it was determined that age and the country of origin did not determine the pedagogical or technological knowledge associated with Mixed Reality. Likewise, it was observed that men had a greater knowledge about the portals where this technology could be found, as well as the devices needed to be able to implement it in the classroom. For this, we must conclude that Secondary School teachers from Mexico and the Dominican Republic need more training on this digital resource, with respect to its use in the development of their curricular content

AN AI ASSISTANT FOR EDUCATION IN AUTOMATION

    Get PDF
One of the challenges in universities is to take into account the different competences of students throughout the process of imparting knowledge. It is unlikely that all students will grasp the course content in the same way, as they have different abilities. Similarly, it is unrealistic for teachers to address all the individual needs of each student at all times. In addition, maintaining learners\u27 attention to a particular topic is also an essential part of teaching. To overcome these challenges, we are developing AI learning software as part of a research project. The software generates learning scenarios for the students and takes their individual competences into account. The research project focuses on the field of automation technology, especially on programming, as programming skills are usually required in automation environments. When solving the scenarios, students receive immediate feedback on how well they have solved the task. Immediate automated feedback not only meets the students\u27 expectations of quick learning feedback, but it also relieves the teaching staff in the assessment process. In addition, the software includes an interactive user interface that allows learners to see the results of their programming tasks in a simulated 3D environment. This approach aims to maintain learners\u27 attention over a longer learning period. This paper describes the above aspects that are being developed in the research project and previews the new learning opportunities that could arise from the use of AI

    Get PDF
In our article we describe how, with which works of Russian literature and at which levels we introduce our students at our school for Russian as a foreign language. We have worked out several forms of familiarization during the years. All these forms we divided into two large groups: those included in the educational programs and those non-included, or extra. Included, in turn, are divided into a) familiarization forms for levels A0, A1 and A2; b) familiarization forms for the transition level B1 and c) familiarization forms for B2, C1 and C2. The extra familiarization forms are connected to participation in different arrangements which we do at the school in addition to ordinary courses. These are participation in performances, in reading roles, in school club «Samovar» meetings devoted to literary issues, such as lectures about literature in Norwegian, celebrating of writers’ jubilees etc. In our article we are going to discuss all forms mentioned above with examples of used texts and ways we are working with them

ANALYZING NARRATIVE DISCLOSURE TONE IN GERMAN-LANGUAGE ANNUAL REPORTS: A DOMAIN-SPECIFIC WORDLIST APPROACH

    Get PDF
The aim of this paper is to investigate how narrative framing is utilized by HDAX companies when describing financial results. We analyzed the narratives in shareholder letters (Aktionärsbrief) and strategic reports (Lagebericht), which German companies employed to depict revenue and profit developments. In addition to focusing on negative or positive disclosure tone, as seen in previous research on English-language financial texts, we introduced an additional analysis category concerning communicated materiality, in line with the framing hypothesis of behavioral effects by users of financial reporting. Using the original texts of 89 annual reports in their native German language, we developed a domain-specific wordlists with three categories of words: (1) those used to address negative and positive developments, (2) those used to convey the manager\u27s attitude towards reported information, and (3) those used for communicating materiality
