An Investigation of the Efficacy of Various Policies Regarding Employee Welfare

The title of the study was "a study on Employees welfare measures with special reference to Bescal Steel industry," and its topic was "a study on Employees welfare measures." The personnel of the business were the target audience for the research that was carried out. A systematic approach to the research topic is what is meant by the term "research methodology." An investigation into the degree of contentment felt by workers has been carried out through the use of research. A questionnaire was used to obtain the primary data that was needed. There were a total of 334 employees, but only 120 samples were included for this study. The secondary data was gathered through the use of the organization's website as well as its records. The data that was collected was interpreted using straightforward percentage tests. According to the statistics, the vast majority of employees are content with the provision of welfare facilities. However, in order to make improvements to the organization's welfare facilities for its workers, the researcher provides relevant recommendations to the company
University Students' Perception and Use of ChatGPT: Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Higher Education
Get PDFThis quantitative study examined how university students perceive and use generative AI technology, specifically ChatGPT, in higher education. The main objective is to explore and describe university students' perception and use of generative AI, particularly ChatGPT, in the context of higher education. A 5-point Likert scale questionnaire was adopted and used in the study. Five hundred students from various universities in Region XI were surveyed using a stratified random sampling technique. Further, the validity and reliability of the scale used in the study were assessed using Cronbach's Alpha and Factor Analysis and demonstrated acceptable construct validity and reliability indices. The findings revealed that university students demonstrated high levels of understanding, knowledge, perception of the advantages and disadvantages, positive attitude, and strong intention to use generative AI technologies in the context of higher education. Moreover, the respondents showed a moderate level of concern about generative AI
Recording Student Attendance and Recognizing Their Faces Using Deep Learning
Get PDFThere are several methods available to monitor student attendance in classes, such as biometric, radiofrequency, face recognition, and paper-based systems. However, the face recognition-based approach has been found to be both efficient and secure. In this study, a threshold to confi-dence has been implemented through Euclidean distance values to en-hance the identification process. The Local Binary Pattern Histogram (LBPH) algorithm has been utilized for this purpose, as it has been demonstrated to be more effective than other methods such as Eigenfaces and Fisher faces. The Haar cascade method has been used for facial de-tection due to its robustness. The system's performance has been assessed in various scenarios, including recognition rates, false-positive rates, and detecting unknown individuals with or without a threshold. The system has demonstrated an impressive 79% recognition rate for students, with a 24% false-positive rate, and can identify students wearing glasses or a beard. The LBPH algorithm and Haar Cascade method contribute to the system's exceptional performance. The recognition rate for unregistered individuals in facial recognition technology is noteworthy even without the use of a threshold value, sitting at a commendable 64%. Public Universities Fees Hike in Nigeria: Reasons, Social Implications and Suggestions for Decision Making for Effective University Administration in Nigeria
No full textThe paper discussed the social implications of fees hike in public universities in Nigeria. Secondary data were used in the paper. The data were collected from both print and online publications. The paper submitted that stakeholders in tertiary education especially the universities have made their position known on the fee hike in Nigerian universities. Stakeholders like the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and the Academic Staff Union of Nigerians Universities have opposed the idea of university fees hike and advised the government not to increase the fees in the various universities. Also, the paper in the areas of reasons given by universities in Nigeria for the fess increment identified; increment in cost of administration, low subvention from the government and poor internally generated revenue. On the social implications of fee hikes in Nigeria, the paper identified a likely reduction in university enrolment, retention and graduate output, an increment in the prostitution rate among female students, an increment in criminal activities, insecurity problems and poor human capital development. The paper concluded that the suggestions of the government on fees increment to enable public universities to generate more revenue and to be able to contribute to the internal management of the various universities is a welcome idea. But increment in the fees of various universities with the present economic challenges of inflation and high poverty rate and without any social programme designed or put in place to reduce the impacts of fees hike on the students and parents is not the best decision. Based on this, the paper hereby recommended that the federal and state government should launch a bursary and scholarship programme for students in tertiary institutions across the country. Private institutions and religious organizations should be encouraged to commence scholarship programmes for students. Fees increment in any university should be agreed upon by the stakeholders in various universities before implementation. The government should implement 15-20% budget allocation to education of as recommended by UNESCO
