Smart-troubleshooting in Industry 4.0 leveraging log files and product information

    No full text
Connected internet of things devices are becoming more powerful, yet the chal-lenge of effectively managing them to prevent failures remains ongoing. In somescenarios, such as with devices produced by a single company, it is possibleto use the same fault detection provided by the manufacturer and follow theinstruction for resolving the threat. In other cases, such as with devices producedby different companies, the heterogeneity of devices necessitates a more detailedand complex approach to fault detection. Log files, which are records of eventsor processes generated by a device’s software or hardware, are crucial for moni-toring device behavior. It is important to consider the diversity of log files anddata to detect threats, identify their root causes, and provide effective solutions. In the realm of troubleshooting interconnected internet of things devices, currentsolutions predominantly address homogeneous device environments, whichlimits their scalability and adaptability to diverse device types and configura-tions. Instead, a more flexible approach is needed; one that can accommodatea variety of connected devices while minimizing reliance on specific companyinstructions. One such method is Smart-troubleshooting which involves a 4-stepcycle which include prevention, detection and diagnosis, recovery, and evolutionof threats. Given these premises, the ultimate goal of this research is to definea smart-troubleshooting approach based on log files and product information.By leveraging a generalized methodology, this approach seeks to enhance themanagement of internet of things systems in complex, multi-manufacturer en-vironments. This thesis focuses on a systematic review of log files and thestate of the art in troubleshooting methodologies. During the research, thescarcity of publicly available log files for troubleshooting purposes was identified. Consequently, a method was proposed for generating synthetic log filesusing generative adversarial networks. The proposed methodology leveragesthese log files along with product information to enhance smart-troubleshooting.To validate the approach and gather industry feedback, questionnaires and in-terviews was conducted. Following this, machine learning algorithms will beemployed to implement and refine the proposed method. By leveraging a gener-alized methodology, this approach seeks to improve the management and faultdetection of internet of things systems in complex, heterogeneous environments

The fidelity-adaptation dilemma : Professionals' perceptions, attitudes, management, and psychosocial working conditions when using evidence-based interventions in practice

    No full text
Evidence-based interventions (EBIs) are effective tools for improving and maintaining health and wellbeing across various settings in society. However, their success relies on balancing adherence to the components and core elements of EBIs that ensure effectiveness with the need to adapt these interventions to fit different contexts. This challenge, known as the fidelity-adaptation dilemma, is highly relevant in practice during the sustainment phase of implementation, where professionals delivering EBIs to target groups are responsible for managing this dilemma. Even though EBIs are a central part of many professionals' working-life, there is limited understanding of how professionals experience the dilemma in practice and how it is associated with their psychosocial working conditions. There is also a gap in knowledge about the sustainment phase, during which professionals are key to the success of EBIs—in other words, they determine to a high degree whether an EBI is effective for its target group through the adaptations they make. Moreover, little is known about how decision support interventions can help professionals balance fidelity and adaptation. The overall aim of this thesis is therefore to explore the fidelity-adaptation dilemma from the professionals' perspective by looking at their perceptions, attitudes, management, and psychosocial working conditions when using EBIs in the sustainment phase of implementation. A secondary aim is to investigate a structured decision support intervention—the Adaptation and Fidelity Tool (A-FiT)— that aims to support professionals in making planned, intentional decisions about fidelity and adaptations. This thesis comprises four studies, each focusing on different main aspects of professionals' experiences with the fidelity-adaptation dilemma when using EBIs in practice: perceptions (Study I), attitudes (Study II), and psychosocial working conditions (Studies II and IV) but also adaptations made (Study III), and the investigation of a decision support intervention (Studies III and IV). The participants were professionals working with two evidence-based parent education programs in Sweden: Cool Kids (Study I) and All Children in Focus (ABC) (Studies II–IV). The research employed both qualitative and quantitative methods, with cross-sectional and longitudinal designs. The key findings of the thesis indicate that professionals have varying attitudes toward fidelity and adaptation (Studies I and II) but generally perceive the fidelity-adaptation dilemma as challenging (Study I). Professionals who favored adaptations over fidelity reported more demanding working conditions compared to those who preferred fidelity or valued both equally (Study II). Prompts encouraging reflection on managing fidelity and adaptations were associated with lower perceived skills in delivering the EBI ABC (Study IV). The results also reveal that all professionals made adaptations (Studies I and IV), primarily to better fit the EBI into the context (practical adaptations). While the professionals made about the same number of adaptations both before and after participating in A-FiT, the reasons for making them changed. Practical adaptations increased in number after the professionals participated in A-FiT, while adaptations aimed at improving the EBI's effectiveness decreased (Study III). This thesis advances the understanding of the fidelity-adaptation dilemma, demonstrating how EBIs can act as both resources and job demands. The findings highlight the importance of reflection both before, during (in), and after (on) action in making effective decisions about fidelity and adaptation, as supported by A-FiT and reflective prompts. Addressing this dilemma requires support beyond the individual level, including education and information about EBIs' components, fidelity, adaptations, and implementation, as well as organizational support and adequate resources, such as opportunities and time to reflect. The thesis emphasizes the need for a balanced approach to fidelity and adaptation for effective EBI sustainment, and calls for further investigation of the dilemma from the professionals' perspective and the impact of tools such as AFiT. Such research, together with the findings from this thesis could contribute to better support for professionals in their management and experience of the dilemma and to that society gains the best possible outcomes from EBIs in the future

”Vi är lite som en udda fågel” : En kvalitativ studie av socionomens roll inom psykiatrins beroendevård

    No full text
Research shows that within the care of people with substance use the dominant model is the biomedical and it leaves not enough room for social dimensions and holistic care. The theoretical framework is based on Lipsky’s discretion and on Bourdieus’s field, doxa and symbolic power. The aim of this essay is to investigate the role of social workers within psychiatric addiction care. Qualitative semi structured interviews, with five social workers, were used to collect data. A thematic analysis was conducted and culminated in three themes and one subtheme. The result reveals that the social worker needs to navigate among several doxas, which affects the social worker’s position, role, discretion and recognition. The biopsychosocial perspective is showing success and therefore the role of the social worker became to coordinate the collaboration to establish a holistic care. However, psychiatrists still have a dominant position, and it entails a risk that the biomedical perspective obscures the influence of the social perspective. The conclusion is that the social workers need to continue to struggle for the social perspective to be recognized. With their pride and courage, we believe the social workers will continue to stand up for their discretion and the profession.

ATT MÖTA SÖRJANDE ANHÖRIGA I SAMBAND MED DÖDSFALL : En litteraturöversikt ur ett sjuksköterskeperspektiv

    No full text

Evaluating Zeek and Suricata for Intrusion Detection in 5G Core Networks

    No full text
As organizations rely more on digital infrastructure, protecting their networks has become a top priority as cyber threats continue to grow. To manage the vast amount of data and potential risks, organizations use monitoring tools like Zeek and Suricata to detect and respond to suspicious network activity. This thesis explores the potential of Zeek and Suricata to improve incident monitoring in a 5G Core Network (5GCN). Specifically, we assess their effectiveness in monitoring the N4 and Service Based Interfaces, focusing on detecting Denial-of-Service attacks via Packet Forwarding Control Protocol (PFCP) session deletion requests and TLS handshake failure events caused by protocol version mismatch, respectively. To achieve this, we conduct an experiment in a simulated 5GCN that evaluates the ability of Zeek and Suricata to detect these incidents, aiming to provide valuable insights into improving network visibility and incident detection. Our results show that both Zeek and Suricata can effectively detect TLS handshake failures due to protocol version mismatch. However, neither tool can directly identify incidents on the PFCP protocol, as their base versions lack built-in support for it. Instead, they detect only the underlying UDP traffic. We concluded that the detection capabilities of these tools depend on the protocols involved in the incident. While common protocols like TLS allow for sufficient monitoring, specialized protocols like PFCP offer limited detection when incidents occur at or above the TCP/UDP layer
