Bioremediation of Wastewater by Using Bacteria An Experimental Study at Tigris River

The Tigris River holds great importance in the Middle East, as it traverses multiple nations and has played a crucial part in shaping the region's history and progress. The presence of trace elements in water bodies, such as the Tigris River, can substantially impact the bacteria in the environment. Bacteria are essential for nutrient cycling, organic matter decomposition, and the overall health of ecosystems. Bacteria are essential in wastewater treatment, particularly domestic waste, due to their ability to perform bioremediation. Bacterial samples from dirty water were gathered to study bacterial potential function in wastewater treatment. Hydrogenophaga pseudoflava and Pseudomonas aeruginosa cultures, two of the most abundant and pollutionresistant bacteria, were isolated from these samples and put to use in the BBM. Sewage effluent samples from untreated sewage water facilities were taken from the Tigris River for this research. Both (i) wastewater treated with a culture of H. pseudoflava and P. aeruginosa and (ii) wastewater treated without a culture of H. pseudoflava and P. aeruginosa (Control) were used to investigate the impact of bacteria on wastewater. Every fifth day, samples were taken and tested by accepted procedures to determine physicochemical parameters such pH, phosphate, nitrate, BOD and COD. Nitrate and COD are most effectively removed by H. pseudoflava, whereas P. aeruginosa reduces BOD and phosphate. The bacterial bioremediation of wastewater is the subject of the current study

Molecular Diagnosis of Sunn Pest (Eurygaster Integriceps)

Sun pests (Eurygaster integriceps) pose a significant threat to wheat and barley production, necessitating effective control strategies. Molecular tools like DNA barcoding and analysis of the cytochrome oxidase subunit 1 (COI) gene offer promising avenues for species identification. However, the specific application of these techniques for sunn pest identification remains underexplored. Addressing this gap, our research aimed to utilize DNA barcoding and COI gene analysis for accurate sunn pest species differentiation. Our results demonstrate that DNA barcoding is a suitable diagnostic approach, particularly through COI gene amplification, enabling reliable species identification compared to reference sequences from GenBank or Boldsystems. This finding not only fills a crucial knowledge void but also provides opportunities for tailored treatments targeting sunn pests, thereby enhancing crop protection measures

A Comprehensive Evaluation of Nursing Practices in Nasogastric Tube Care at Azadi Teaching Hospital

Nasogastric tube (NGT) care is integral in various medical settings, including critical care units, for relieving intestinal obstruction and providing nutritional support. However, there exists a gap in evaluating nursing practices regarding NGT care, particularly in terms of proficiency levels and adherence to established procedures. This cross-sectional study conducted at Azadi Teaching Hospital in Kirkuk aimed to assess nursing practices in NGT care from November 2023 to June 2024. Forty-two nurses were sampled using a purposive technique, and data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially. Results indicate a mixed proficiency level among nurses, with approximately half of the evaluated aspects falling into low to moderate proficiency categories. Notably, while theoretical knowledge was relatively strong, practical application lagged behind. These findings underscore the need for specialized training, continuous education, and robust quality assurance measures to enhance patient outcomes. Improvements in NGT care practices, including tube feeding administration, medication management, and removal procedures, can be achieved through targeted interventions aimed at bolstering nurses' skills and knowledge in this critical area

Early Diagnosis by Clinical, X-ray, and Echo Study and Surgical Total Correction of Tetralogy of Fallot

Background Tetralogy of Fallot is a congenital heart defect that occurs at birth. It involves a combination of four heart abnormalities that cause affects into the structure and function of the heart. Objective Our study aimed to assess surgical outcomes of total correction patients who have TOF. Patients and methods Our paper was conducted a cross-sectional study to determine surgical outcomes for patients who had undergone in total correction surgery for patients with TOF in different hospitals in Iraq between 16th March 2022 and 26th May 2023. Data was analysed using the SPSS program for 110 cases–55 children and 55 adults–based on age, sex, weight, BMI, and symptoms. Results and discussions: Demographic outcomes showed that children had a higher number of cases compared to adults, with children at (7.2±2.7) and adults at (21.27±1.96). Atrial septal defect was found to be the most prevalent condition in both age groups, with a rate of 29.1% in children and a high rate of cases observed in hospital settings with a percentage of 32.7%. The study compared the outcomes of children and adults and found that Cyanosis had the highest rate of symptomatic cases, accounting for 36.4% of cases in both children and adults. The data indicated that 94.5% of children received intraoperative blood products, compared to 63.6% of adults. Furthermore, 81.8% of children were administered PRBC compared to 63.6% of adults. In terms of FFP, 76.4% of children were given it, while only 58.2% of adults received it. Similarly, 72.7% of children were given platelets compared to 47.3% of adults. To further our understanding of outcomes, we evaluated post-operative complications in patients with TOF. Our findings indicate that children experienced more complications than adults after surgery, with a rate of 43.6% in children compared to 25.5% in adults. Pulmonary regurgitation was found to be a prevalent factor after surgery, with a rate of 11 (20%) in children and 5 (9.1%) in adults. Conclusions: Our study indicated an increased rate of postoperative complications in children compared to adults. Complications were identified in both children (43.6%) and adults (25.5%), with low cardiac output syndrome and pulmonary regurgitation being the most common. &nbsp

Comparing the Effects of Different Flow Rate of Fresh Gas on Patient Hemodynamic Stability and Depth of Anesthesia

More general anaesthesia with lower fresh gas flow rates is needed to reduce environmental contamination and treatment costs. Reducing or eliminating fresh gas administration improves patient care by keeping the highest anaesthesia safety and quality standards and reducing emissions. The increasing use of low fresh gas flow rates addresses environmental concerns and ensures excellent anaesthesia patient outcomes. This study examined how the unique low-flow anaesthesia regimen affected hemodynamic stability throughout medical procedures. One hundred consecutive people were used for this experiment. A group of patients received two litres per minute of high flow anaesthesia (HFA) while another received one litre per minute of low flow (LFA). Surgery took up to two hours for each research subject. The bispectral index (BIS), heart rate (HR), blood pressure, end-tidal carbon dioxide levels, haemoglobin oxygen saturation (SaO2), and inhalational anaesthetic agent concentrations like isoflurane, nitrous oxide (N2O), and oxygen (O2) were closely monitored and recorded during the procedures. The two groups had significantly different heart rates, SaO2 levels, and systolic and diastolic blood pressure. The two groups' BIS scores were similar, showing that low-flow anaesthesia patients were not more alert during surgery. In addition, the high-flow and low-flow anaesthesia groups had statistically significant differences in end-tidal anaesthetic concentrations at 5, 10, 15, and 60 minutes and after surgery. To conclude, low-flow and high-flow rate general anaesthesia approaches maintain hemodynamic stability and provide the optimum anaesthesia for patients. The current study stresses the importance of continuously monitoring and controlling anaesthesia administration methods to optimise patient outcomes and procedural safety. This study adds to the knowledge of anaesthetic methods and their influence on clinical management and patient care in healthcare
