management and resource conservation while providing financial and livelihood gains. This study therefore investigated the flow of scrap metals among the actors and the proportion of scrap metals sold to recyclers in Abia State, South Eastern Nigeria, within twelve months. A total of ninety-six scrap yards were selected and sampled using stratified sampling techniques. Site-specific/output approach that involves the vehicle load sampling of scrap metals from the scrap yards to recyclers was employed to determine the volume of scrap metal taken to recyclers monthly. The findings identified the scrap collectors as the value providers and primary stakeholders on which the entire scrap metal recovery chain depends. An average of 1026.49±471.35, 1258.38±577.85, and 4.65±3.31tonnes for ferrous, nonferrous and E-scrap are sold to recyclers reducing the volume sent to landfills. A higher volume of scrap metal was recovered and sold to recyclers during the wet season. Nonferrous scrap metal is the most preferred scrap metals and accounts for 54.9% of scrap metal sold to recyclers. Scrap recycling is a sustainable approach to its management

The reliability of the instruments IIUMQ was established through a test re-test method. The results of the first and second administration of the instrument were analysed using the Pearson Product Moment correlation coefficient, which yielded a reliability index of 0.88. Data collected in the study were analyzed using mean-scores and standard deviation. The findings showed that inflation affected running of the universities in Nigeria via increment in operational cost. The result also indicated that inflation affected projects completion, led to projects abadonment, poor projects financing and poor projects maintenance. The result finally revealed that inflation affected implementation of teaching, research and community service programme in Nigerian universities. Get PDF
This study explores the efficacy of Greimas's Actantial Model in analyzing narrative structures, with a focus on understanding character motivations, conflicts, and resolutions. Through a close examination of Hemingway's "The Killers," the narrative is dissected into key components including exposition, rising incidents, climax, falling incidents, and resolution, each analyzed using the Actantial Model. By applying this methodology, the study aims to elucidate the motivations and relationships of characters within each episode, leveraging Hemingway's distinctive writing style to uncover deeper themes and meanings. The research identifies a gap in the understanding of how the Actantial Model can be effectively applied to literary analysis. Using a qualitative approach, the study applies the Actantial Model to "The Killers" and reveals its utility in uncovering narrative complexities. The findings underscore the Actantial Model's potential as a structural framework for analyzing narratives, shedding light on character dynamics and narrative depth. This research contributes to the broader discourse on narrative analysis and offers implications for future studies in literary theory and semiotics

A field experiment was conducted during a winter season of 2023 in the botanical garden of the College of Basic Education - Al-Mustansiriya University to knowing the effect of planting dates and ZnO nanoparticles spraying on the some growth indicators, aromatic oil and its content of active compounds of anise plant. A split-plots arrangement according to randomized complete block design (RCBD) was used with three replications. The main plots contained two planting dates (1/11 and 15/11), whereas the sub plots contained spraying of two concentrations of ZnO nanoparticles (5 and 10 mg L-1) in addition to spraying of distilled water only (0 mg nano-Zn L-1). The results revealed that second planting date (15/11) was significantly superiority in the plant content of nitrogen (15.65 mg N g-1), plant content of phosphorous (9.72 mg P g-1), plant height (73.33 cm), main branches number (20.56 branch plant-1) and fruits number (20.33 fruit inflorescence-1). Otherwise the first date (1/11) was significantly superiority in the 1000-fruits weight (3.89 g) and aromatic oil percentage (5.26%). As well, the spraying of ZnO nanoparticles at a concentration of 10 mg L-1 was significantly superiority in plant height (73.17 cm) and 1000-fruits weight (4.21 g) and aromatic oil percentage (5.66%), while the  spraying of ZnO nanoparticles at a concentration of 5 mg L-1 was significantly superiority and gave a highest average of the plant content of nitrogen (14.98 mg N g-1), plant content of phosphorous (9.66 mg P g-1), main branches number (19.67 branch plant-1), fruits number (19.33 fruit inflorescence-1). Further, the results of HPLC analysis showed that the percentages of active compounds of anise aromatic oil were varied by the effect of planting date and spraying of ZnO nanoparticles
