    Liver Function Test among Patients with Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease

    NAFLD is one of the most common liver diseases worldwide, and is associated with obesity, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and body fat imbalance. The disease is classified into two main types: simple fatty liver, which does not usually lead to liver damage, and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), which can progress to scarring (fibrosis) of the liver or even liver failure. The effect of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease on liver function levels and the relationship between them. The study included 75 patients with NAFLD, 34 males and 41 females, 18-75 years of age, they are diagnosed by ultrasound at GIT & hepatobiliary, and other group as control group included 81 apparently healthy subjucts 46 males and 35 females, 18-75 years of age. Physiological measurements include waist circumference, height, weight, BP, Approximately 5 ml of venous blood samples were obtained from both control individuals and patients with NAFLD after 10-12 hour overnight fasting by using sterile disposable syringes for the assessment of total serum bilirubin, unconjugated and conjugated bilirubin, Aspartate aminotransferase (AST), and alanine aminotransferase (ALT). The results shows a significant increase in the levels of AST and ALT (P<0.01) in patients group, while there is non-significant change (P>0.05) in each of total TSB, direct bilirubin, indirect bilirubin, total protein, albumin and globulin. The results were based on the determination of unconjugated and conjugated bilirubin, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT). The serum of people who have non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) may contain elevated levels of AST and ALT. Because bilirubin, albumin, globulin, and total protein do not have any effect on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), it is reasonable to assume that their levels do not change in people with NAFLD

    Analysis of Wastewater Treatment Plant Dimensions and Phosphate Content in the Euphrates River: A Chemical and Biological Study

    In this study was performed to ascertain the effect of wastewater discharge on the level of phosphate in the water of station on the Euphrates river and the engineering design of the wastewater treatment plants to reduce the level of phosphate. Samples were collected near the station during the winter and spring seasons in 2024. Our study involves three aspects, the first aspect detects phosphate concentration. The second aspect concerned with measuring some engineering aspects of wastewater treatment plant, while the third aspect is measuring the biological properties, which is the excessive growth of the algae Chlorella vulgaris. The results of phosphate were compared with the Iraqi limits and the World Health Organization, and it was found that the concentration of phosphate (0.32 mg/1) exceeded the permissible limitaonly in spring 2024, within Iraqi specifications. The algae growth was thriving ( 0.9)and there was a record deviation from control (50%) indicating the inefficiency of treatment in Spring

    Effect of Rapid Desiccation with Ethanol Immersion on Viability and Vigor of Some Rice Seeds (Oryza sativa L.)

    The availability of quality seeds is important in crop cultivation, so quality seeds must be available when farmers need them. Quality seeds must be able to be stored for a long time. Rapid aging through soaking with 95% ethanol within 5 minutes, can predict the shelf life of seeds. Rice seeds that were treated with rapid soaking were Inpari 45 (V1), Sunggal (V2), Memberamo (V3) and Ciherang (V4) varieties. From the results of the analysis of variance, the observation parameters of Germination Power (DB), Maximum Growth Potential (PTM) and Keserempakan Tumbuh (KST) were significantly different (1%). Of the four varieties, after the seeds were soaked in 95% ethanol for 5 minutes DB, PTM and KST decreased very drastically. The order of varieties based on their seed viability and vigor levels, from high to low, are Inpari 45 (V1), Memberamo (V3) Sunggal (V2) and Ciherang (V4). Inpari 45 (V1) has the highest germination rate (DB) of 39%, while Ciherang (V4) has the lowest germination rate (DB) of 15.67%. These results suggest that the Inpari 45 (V1) variety can be stored longer than the other three varieties.
