In this article we will talk about obsolete units of the phraseological fund of the Russian language, including the vocabulary of phraseological expressions that have passed into the passive reserve of the language. Structural features of stable combinations are examined, the component characteristic of phraseology is given, in particular FE with outdated grammatical forms in its composition. Possible reasons for their withdrawal from active use are also given. Sulayman Al-Bassam’s Adaptation of Shakespeare’s Richard III: A Politico-Cultural Analysis

    Get PDF
Born in 1972, Sulayman Al-Bassam is a renowned Kuwaiti-Britain dramatist and theatre director whose vigorous style and diction shape the contours of his plays. He founded Zaoum Theatre in London in 1996 and is well-known for his drama entitled The Arab Shakespeare Trilogy, which includes three plays that adapt Shakespeare's works to the context of the Arab world: The Al-Hamlet Summit, Richard III: An Arab Tragedy and The Speaker's Progress. Being a Kuwaiti playwright is undoubtedly exciting, particularly when bringing a Shakespearean drama that launches the themes of tyranny and invasion to Middle Eastern audiences. By so doing, Al-Bassam manages to intertextualize Shakespeare’s plays, modifying and redirecting the context to the Arab world. The current study, however, examines Al-Bassam's adaptation of Shakespeare’s Richard III, which has strong political connotations and discursivity. The study is divided into two sections and a conclusion. The first section provides an overview of Al-Bassam's literary and socio-political backgrounds as well as Shakespeare’s original version of Richard III. On the other hand, the second section sheds light on the intertextuality theory and its application to the chosen play. Furthermore, the conclusion sums up the findings of the study

Correlation of Metabolic and Ionic Components of Follicular Fluid with Estrogen Concentration

This study was aimed to assess the correlation between the metabolic and ionic composition of ovarian follicular fluid and its relationship to the concentration of estrogen and prolactin hormones as the follicle size changes in the local female cows. Ovaries were collected (80 ovaries) from non- pregnant 40 adult females cow at Hilla slaughterhouse at Babil province. The gathered ovaries were transported to the laboratory within two hours. Follicular fluid was pulled from small (2-5 mm) follicles, medium (6-10 mm), and large (11-20 mm) follicles, then it stored at 5 ° C until assayed. Follicular fluid samples were analyzed for metabolites composition of (cholesterol, total protein, and glucose), and ionic composition (calcium, phosphorus, copper, magnesium, zinc) ,and hormone concentration ( estrogen and prolactin). The results of the study showed that the total protein and glucose concentrations were increased significantly(p> 05.0) with increased of follicle size. The study also showed the calcium, copper, and phosphorus concentration were increased significantly(p> 05.0) with changes of follicular size, as well as the estrogen concentration was significantly increased (p > 05.0) With increased follicular size. A significantly (p> 05.0) correlation was found between both magnesium, zinc ions, and estrogen hormone

The Effect of Natural Extracts and Tea Compost on the Vegetative Growth of Carnation Plants Stressed by Heavy Elements

    Get PDF
A factorial experiment was carried out in the greenhouses that were implemented for this purpose to study the ability of the accumulation and resistance of the carnation plants to growth in soil contaminated with toxic elements and plant treatment using natural extracts and treatment with different ratio of biological organic aquatic extracts. The experiment included the use of three factors, the first factor included treating the plants with two types of extracts (licorice root and malt seed) in addition to the control treatment, while the second factor included treating the planting soil with two ratio of tea compost (1/5 and 1/10), while the third factor included treating the potting soil with heavy elements. Copper, lead and their mixture at a concentration of 5 mg L-1, follow the design of C.R.D. In the study experiment, there were three replicates, and each replicate included 3 experimental units. The results of the study showed that the study factors had a significant effect on the studied vegetative growth characteristics. The triple interaction treatment (licorice extract and 5/1 ratio of tea compost for non-stressed plants) had a significant superiority in plant height, number of leaves, number of vegetative branches, and chlorophyll content of leaves with an average of (23.67cm, 64.33 leaves, 11.33 branches, and 42.00 SPAD), while the treatment (spraying unstressed plants with licorice extract without adding tea compost) achieved the highest average dry weight of vegetative growth, with an average of 11.816 gm

Peptic Ulcer Incidence Among Pregnant Women in Baghdad

    Get PDF
Peptic ulcers in pregnant women present a unique therapeutic challenge, necessitating a balance between effective treatment and fetal safety. Pregnant women with peptic ulcers may have Helicobacter pylori infection, increased stomach acid production, or NSAID usage. Symptoms such as heartburn, nausea, vomiting, and stomach discomfort are common. The treatment approach requires careful evaluation of the benefits and risks of available therapies. This study aims to investigate effective management strategies for peptic ulcers during pregnancy. Initial strategies include lifestyle modifications, such as avoiding trigger foods and eating smaller, more frequent meals. Antacids can provide temporary relief by neutralizing stomach acid but should be used under medical supervision due to potential risks associated with certain formulations during pregnancy. The study concludes that tailored treatment plans, considering both maternal and fetal health, are crucial for managing peptic ulcers in pregnant women

Liver Function Test among Patients with Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease

    Get PDF
NAFLD is one of the most common liver diseases worldwide, and is associated with obesity, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and body fat imbalance. The disease is classified into two main types: simple fatty liver, which does not usually lead to liver damage, and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), which can progress to scarring (fibrosis) of the liver or even liver failure. The effect of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease on liver function levels and the relationship between them. The study included 75 patients with NAFLD, 34 males and 41 females, 18-75 years of age, they are diagnosed by ultrasound at GIT & hepatobiliary, and other group as control group included 81 apparently healthy subjucts 46 males and 35 females, 18-75 years of age. Physiological measurements include waist circumference, height, weight, BP, Approximately 5 ml of venous blood samples were obtained from both control individuals and patients with NAFLD after 10-12 hour overnight fasting by using sterile disposable syringes for the assessment of total serum bilirubin, unconjugated and conjugated bilirubin, Aspartate aminotransferase (AST), and alanine aminotransferase (ALT). The results shows a significant increase in the levels of AST and ALT (P<0.01) in patients group, while there is non-significant change (P>0.05) in each of total TSB, direct bilirubin, indirect bilirubin, total protein, albumin and globulin. The results were based on the determination of unconjugated and conjugated bilirubin, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT). The serum of people who have non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) may contain elevated levels of AST and ALT. Because bilirubin, albumin, globulin, and total protein do not have any effect on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), it is reasonable to assume that their levels do not change in people with NAFLD

Technology of Creating Electronic Textbooks in the Formation of Pedagogical Competence

    Get PDF
This research article explores the transformative impact of electronic textbooks on the development of pedagogical competence. Employing a mixed-methods research design, the study investigates the relationship between educators' utilization of electronic textbooks and their technological proficiency, perceived impact on pedagogical competence, and preferences for specific features. Quantitative analyses, including surveys and usage metrics, are complemented by qualitative insights drawn from interviews and classroom observations. The integrated findings provide a comprehensive understanding of the role electronic textbooks play in shaping pedagogical practices and highlight the opportunities and challenges associated with their integration into diverse educational settings
