Sheffield Avenue and the sidewalk with pedestrians are also in the picture.Acquired in 1989, the Sanctuary Residence Hall is considered a landmark edifice for the Sheffield Historic District. Built in 1883-1889 as St. Augustine's Home for the Aged by the Little Sisters of the Poor with assistance from the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, the property has been converted into student residences. It opened in May of 2000 and was originally named the DePaul Athletic Center. July 22, 2006, the facility was renamed the Sullivan Athletic Center to memorialize the achievement of legendary DePaul athletic director Gene Sullivan. It houses both the McGrath-Phillips Arena, named in memory of the late Frank McGrath who served as the men’s assistant coach for several years at the University as well as the DePaul Athletic Department. The Women's Basketball and Volleyball teams play in the area. The Center replaced Alumni Hall. DePaul President: Rev. John P. Minogue, C.M., W.E. O’Neil Construction Company
