The building view is partially obstructed by trees. Fragment of N. Sheffield Avenue and the sidewalk with pedestrians are also in the picture.Acquired in 1989, the Sanctuary Residence Hall is considered a landmark edifice for the Sheffield Historic District. Built in 1883-1889 as St. Augustine's Home for the Aged by the Little Sisters of the Poor with assistance from the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, the property has been converted into student residences. It houses both the McGrath-Phillips Arena, named in memory of the late Frank McGrath who served as the men’s assistant coach for several years at the University as well as the DePaul Athletic Department.
