    Get PDF
This study explores the vital role that the handloom sector plays in preserving cultural identity and supporting economic sustainability among ethnic communities in Jharkhand, India. Handloom weaving, rooted in tradition, serves as both an economic lifeline and a means of cultural transmission, enabling communities to maintain heritage practices amidst modern challenges. Data were collected from 130 handloom workers from the selected district of Jharkhand, utilising a quantitative research methodology and employing structured questionnaires that focused on cultural identity, economic challenges, and income satisfaction. Further insights were obtained from secondary sources, such as government reports and academic literature, to provide context for the findings. Our findings reveal a strong positive correlation between income satisfaction derived from handloom work and the importance placed on cultural preservation. Chi-square tests and correlation analyses highlight that those with greater economic security from weaving demonstrate a higher appreciation for its cultural value. These insights underline the need for targeted policies to sustain the sector, suggesting that strengthening the economic framework for handloom weavers could bolster both cultural continuity and community resilience. This study contributes to the discourse on safeguarding cultural practices and promoting sustainable livelihoods in the face of globalisation and mechanised competition

    Get PDF
Social media has a significant impact on children's learning app purchases because it shapes consumer awareness, trust, and social influence. It exposes users to a diverse range of educational app marketing and suggestions, thereby increasing awareness and influencing purchasing decisions. Recommendations from influencers, educators, and peers on social media enhance trust and drive app purchases. This study explores the key factors influencing children's learning app purchase intentions through social media, focusing on awareness, trust, social influence, and satisfaction. A conceptual model was developed, and data were collected using a questionnaire. Confirmatory factor analysis revealed strong model fit indices, indicating that the proposed model accurately represents the relationships among the variables. The analysis showed significant correlations between awareness, trust, social influence, satisfaction, and purchase intention, with social influence having the strongest positive correlation with purchase intention. Path analysis confirmed that social influence significantly influences purchase intentions. The reliability of the constructs demonstrated strong internal consistency through high Cronbach's alpha values. These findings suggest that marketers should prioritize social influence when promoting children's learning apps on social media platforms to maximize purchase intentions

A Study on Locus of Control and Suicidal Ideation among Medical and Non-Medical Students

    Get PDF
Locus of control is defined as the degree to which individuals believe they can control the out-come of their actions and it is categorized into internal and external types, with external LOC linked to greater vulnerability to anxiety and suicidal thoughts. The study examined the relationship between locus of control (LOC) and suicidal ideation (SI) among medical and non-medical students. It aimed to explore locus of control as a predictor of suicidal ideation. The study also explored the influence of demographic factors such as gender, family type, and parenting status on LOC. A sample of 200 students aged 19-26 from Guwahati, Assam, participated in the study. The research adopted a correlation research design and used purposive non-probability sampling technique. LOC was assessed using Rotter's Locus of Control Scale, while SI was measured using Beck's Suicidal Ideation Scale. Statistical tests like t-test, Pearson correlation, and linear regression analysis were employed and analyzed in SPSS software to interpret the findings. The results showed no significant differences in LOC and SI between medical and non-medical students. However, a positive correlation was found between external LOC and higher levels of SI. The study concluded that external LOC may predict the risk of SI, highlighting the need for interventions to enhance internal LOC and promote student’s well-being

Capital Flight Dynamics: A Comparative Analysis of Determinants in the Indian and Brazilian Economies

    Get PDF
This paper aims to inquire into the determinants of capital flight in India and Brazil using the Autoregressive Distributed Lag estimation technique and bounds testing procedures to demonstrate a long-term equilibrium relationship between Capital Flight and Real Effective Exchange Rate, Rate of Inflation, Stock market, GDP growth rate, and Foreign Direct Investment. The study utilizes yearly data from 1990 to 2023. The bounds test results confirm the existence of cointegration for both India and Brazil. More specifically, in the case of India variables such as GDP growth rate and Real Effective Exchange Rate have had a notable impact on this capital flight in the short-run, while the stock market has a long-run effect. In Brazil, the inflation rate, GDP in the short term, and the stock market in the long term are significant determinants. The diagnostics and stability tests confirm the reliability and stability of coefficients for both nations. Our findings suggest that both nations should focus on strong macroeconomic policies that decrease capital flight and ensure investor stability in their race to become the topmost emerging nations

    Get PDF
Puri, is a sacred land of pilgrimage known for the world famous temple of Lord Jagannatha in Orissa, the abode of Lord Vishnu in Eastern India. Hindus are always driven by the heritage, cultural legacy and the sanctity of a sacred site. So the importance of Puri as a tirtha or “sacred crossing” is undeniable. Being the abode of lord Jagannatha (incarnation of  God Vishnu) it has attracted a large number of tourists from distant places all over the world and have also gained worldwide recognition. But apart for Lord Jagannatha temple, Puri is blessed with numerous other temples of Gods and Goddesses which according to ancient myths are considered to be the protector Gods of the main deity. These temples belong to the Saiva, Shakti, Hanuman and Nrsingha (another incarnation of Lord Vishnu) cults, distributed at the major cardinal points surrounding the main temple of the Lord. But these temples over the years have turned into ruins and are hardly known to the tourists or pilgrims visiting this sacred tirtha. The present study is an attempt to highlight these ancient temples which had a glorious history and to know about their socio-economic status. Apart from these, emphasis is also given on the study of the present status of the temple-workers who are solely dependent on these temples for their livelihood. Away from the glams and glamour of the Sri Jagannatha temple, how these religious institutes are surviving is the main focus of concern. The need of rehabilitation and reconstruction of these sacred places and preservation of their sanctity is the urgent need of the hour. The sacredness of a pilgrim centre can only be achieved if all its heritage and cultural sites are maintained, and their sanctity is preserved. If these temples are brought to the limelight and renovated it will definitely contribute to the enrichment of the town culturally, spiritually and will truly prove the sanctity of the place of the Universal Lord, Jagannatha
