Explaining Economic Growth using Futures Trade in Physical Assets

Every country calculates and publishes the figures related to economic growth periodically. In many cases there is a lot of controversy attached to such figures. Economic growth has both economical and political dimensions. But it is difficult to approve or disapprove the growth figures since such figures are the results of a very difficult and time consuming process with high cost implications. Economic growth is stated commonly by Gross Domestic Product figures, which is the value of all goods and services produced in a country during a given period of time. Increase in goods and services produced will lead to increased economic growth. Further we assume that an increased production of goods will lead to an increase in derivative trade in goods because risk averse producers will use derivatives (commodity derivatives) increasingly to cover up possible risks. Thus theoretically we can conclude that an increase in countries economic growth will lead to an increase in derivative trade in physical commodities. Thus there will be some relationships between derivative trade and economic growth. In this paper we explore such relationships using empirical data with the use of econometric tool OLS regression technique. The analysis was done on three asset classes of futures trade such as agricultural, metals and energy which are taken as independent variables and economic growth as dependent variables. The result shows a valid relation among the variables

The study analyzes the role of Buddhism in both countries' soft power strategies, exploring its influence on political systems, governance, and bilateral relations. This research explores the historical ties that were established by Buddhist monks, the use of common Buddhist history in political and economic partnerships, and the ways in which both nations use Buddhism to improve their international reputation. It examines instances of cross-cultural dialogue, where Buddhist values such as empathy and mindfulness have influenced political relations. Additionally, the research looks at how Buddhist principles are integrated into policy decisions, shaping strategic choices that impact diplomatic efforts, including Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements (CEPA). The research underscores the importance of understanding the shared cultural heritage between the two nations and how it influences global cooperation, cultural diplomacy, and conflict resolution. By studying these dynamics, the research sheds light on the role of Buddhism in fostering diplomatic ties and enhancing global reputations

This article analyses the issue of Electoral Bond Scheme (EBS) which have been introduced with a series of amendments to the existing related laws and regulations, which was challenged in the Supreme Court.  The scheme has been a major area of discussion at various formal and informal forums among politicians, academicians, civil society and legal experts regarding it’s benefit and defects in the electoral politics. The regulatory character of the state and trade regimes provides ample scope to the politicians and political parties for unethical negotiation; creating a nexus between them and business sectors which is detrimental for electoral democracy. In this backdrop, the paper discusses the different major issues relating ‘Electoral Bond Scheme’ and the Supreme Courts observations and the effects of such a scheme of ‘quid pro quo’ to the democratic electoral system and the need for a proper transparent and accountable system of party funding which protects the electoral right of the citizens and strengthens the electoral democracy in India. Finally, the author tries to estimate the historic verdict delivered in February, 2024

Poverty has been around for the past few decades. it is an irony and a tragedy that poverty still continue to exists when science and technology has progressed and advanced so much. Eradicating poverty has been the primary goal and objectives internationally and nationally, which is evidently known from the Sustainable Development Goal 1: "No poverty, i.e., eradicating poverty in all its forms and dimensions by 2030". Thus, this paper tries to estimates and analyses the multidimensional poverty status in Nagaland based on primary source of data. Multidimensional Poverty has been estimated using Alkire and Foster methodology which considers dimensions namely education, health and standard of living than the traditional method confined to only one dimension: income.  The study reveals that, twenty-two percent of the population are multidimensionally poor, where thirty percent live in rural and twelve percent live in urban. Years of schooling indicator contributes most to multidimensional poverty followed by housing, sanitation, assets and cooking fuel. Rural households have higher percentage of multidimensional poverty as compared to the urban. Thus, to ameliorate poverty in the state, poverty measures has to be complemented by measures which considers other dimension of poverty and poverty reduction schemes needs to be implemented, regulated and monitored effectively under strict supervisions

Between Tradition and Modernity: The Political Trajectory of the Ao Naga Women

The journey of women into the political sphere has been challenging across the globe, with their right to participate in politics only being secured after years of persistent struggle. In Naga society too, the inclusion of women in politics has been a slow process. Despite traditional Naga society being often described as democratic and republican, it was governed by customary laws that strictly prohibited women from engaging in political activities. With modernity, society has witnessed a lot of changes in all fields, but the Nagas continue to be governed by their customary laws in many aspects. The Ao Nagas, being one of the first to embrace Christianity, is seen as one of the most forward tribes among the Nagas. However, when it comes to women and politics, the Ao Naga women have limited rights as compared to man in decision making role in the society at large. Therefore, this paper is an attempt to understand the question of whether the Ao Naga community is ready to be more flexible in their customary law and allow women’s participation in all political or decision-making processes.

A Holistic Approach to Building Sustainable Food Systems: The concept and Paradigm of Permaculture

The over-reliance on chemical pesticides and fertilisers, dependence on high-yielding crop varieties, and infringement on local farmers' rights to make decisions about food and agroecosystems have all contributed to the growth of commercial agriculture. As a result, permaculture has evolved to support the creation of self-sufficient and sustainable agroecological food systems that combine efficient use of resources, energy, and space. It focuses on developing agro-ecosystems that surpass traditional agriculture through a set of principles that foster the degree of interconnection between various components, yielding a sustainable food system, paving the path for a peaceful coexistence of human beings and nature. Permaculture is a viable approach to designing sustainable food systems where ecological landscapes and sustainable populations coexist since its principles are consistent with those of agroecology. Permaculture, as opposed to agroecology, emphasises the intentional design of sustainable systems by including different elements, resulting in a whole ecosystem where numerous species and breeds flourish. However, Permaculture is still in its infancy in India, despite its apparent scope, and it longs for a boost. The government ought to recognise and encourage permaculture throughout the nation by offering sufficient assistance
