Get PDFThe State of Israel is currently considered a “start-up nation” that stands out in the proportion of educated people with a tertiary education (which currently stands at 50.1% compared to OECD countries at 38.6%), which constitutes an essential and central growth engine in the entire Israeli economy. two years ago, on 12/03/2020, As a result of the COVID-19 epidemic, the higher education system moved to a state of online emergency teaching in which educational and organizational processes were accelerated.
The purpose of this research is to discuss how the higher education system in Israel is dealing with the systemic changes that have been made over the past three years While referring to the role of the institutions to equip the graduates with the skills and characteristics necessary to strengthen the status of Israel’s “start-up nation”
The Impact of University Student Services and Student Life Characteristics on Students’ Perceptions of Online Education
Get PDFStudent support services and student life have been an integral part of most institutions of higher education for decades. Academic advising, registration coordination, formal tutoring, and informal study groups are some of the more important venues that support academic success. This research fills in a critical gap in the higher education literature by reporting on how six university student support services and six student life characteristics impacted student perceptions of academic success in the online environment. The findings also document students perceived ability to move to the online platform, satisfaction with the online learning experience, and willingness to take future online courses by surveying business students at a comprehensive, AACSB-accredited business school. The results indicate a positive impact of services offered by the Academic Advising Office, Registrar’s Office, and the Writing Center whereas a lukewarm response to the Tutoring Center and Peer Mentoring support services. Among student life attributes, campus technology solutions were most helpful to students in achieving their academic goals

Academic Burnout in Peruvian University Students
Get PDFAcademic burnout is a persistent disorder characterized by fatigue that affects academic performance and student motivation. The objective was to analyze academic burnout in Peruvian university students, comparing the results with the socio-academic characteristics of the students, such as age, sex, area and year of study. The study was descriptive, quantitative, non-experimental – ex-post facto. 1241 university students participated and were selected intentionally, and the Maslach Burnout Student Survey Inventory (MBISS) Peruvian validation was applied. High scores were found regarding emotional exhaustion and depersonalization, and low scores on personal accomplishment, determined the presence of academic burnout in the students. It is concluded that academic burnout is associated with gender (women), age (under 18 years old) and area of study (social sciences), being these students those who develop greater exhaustion, depersonalization and personal fulfillment
Problem-Based Learning as a Teaching Method: An Experience at University Malaysia Terengganu (UMT)
Get PDFProblem-Based Learning (PBL) stands as a pedagogical approach that stimulates students’ engagement by immersing them in learning experiences centred around real-world problems or scenarios. Under the guidance of tutors, students work in small groups to identify and resolve issues, drawing insights from various sources such as notes, books, journals, newspapers, and online resources. This paper aims to share the practical application of PBL in both compulsory and elective courses at the University Malaysia Terengganu (UMT). The purpose of this paper is to integrate Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in their instructional planning and manifest during the facilitation process of PBL as a teaching method. The experience of implementing PBL was witnessed in courses like “Islam and Leadership” with 49 students, Arabic language courses with 16 students and the compulsory course “Philosophy and Current Issues” with around 1200 students. This approach, facilitated by lecturer team, promotes collaborative learning activities, discussions, teaching, observation, and reflective practices. Student-centric PBL offers a positive impact on group collaboration, thereby improving the overall teaching and learning quality
Can Reflective Thinking Develop Students’ Metacognition in the Microeconomics Course?
Get PDFEconomics learning prepares students to deal with various decision-making processes and there is a need on independent learning. This study aims at investigating a reflective thinking approach to teaching microeconomics to enhance students’ metacognitive abilities. The study involved a quantitative research approach using a self-administered survey to collect data from participants. The findings indicate that reflective thinking method can be used to identify students’ learning challenges and to find solutions to cope their problems. In particular, the majority of students found difficulties in some chapters, such as profit calculation and pricing in imperfectly competitive markets, as well as game theory and competitive strategy. In addition, students can propose solutions by involving additional resources, e.g., textbooks and YouTube videos
Digital Competencies and Techno-Stress in Teachers at a Public University in Ancash, Peru
Get PDFIn the digital era, integrating digital competencies in teaching has become crucial. However, this change is challenging, and techno-stress is a relevant concern. This research aimed to determine the relationship between digital competencies and the technostress of remote teachers at a public university in Ancash, Peru. The study was basic, descriptive correlational, non-experimental, and cross-sectional. The population included 168 remote-mode teachers at the undergraduate level and the sample consisted of 90 teachers, with non-probabilistic convenience sampling. The results showed that digital competencies are at a regular level (48.90%) while technostress is at a moderate level (45.60%). Finally, it is concluded that digital competencies are significantly related to technostress. In addition, the value of Spearman’s Rho coefficient (-0.702) confirms that the degree of correlation is negative and high
The Performance Assessment of Chinese Students in College and the Role of English Language
Get PDFThis research paper addresses the importance of investigating local students’ perceptions on the effectiveness of English as a medium of communication in and out of the classroom. Interviews with semi-structured questions of intrinsic and extrinsic nature through five-Likert scale were conducted in 140 undergraduate students who have been pursuing a bachelor’s degree at Zhengzhou Normal University in China. Descriptive analysis and factor component analysis (FCA) used for obtaining the results. The intrinsic and extrinsic nature of findings demonstrate that English considerably impacts their academic progress and performance. Furthermore, the findings show that students are eager to accept, support, and encourage their friends to adapt English to generate new knowledge and information. The findings also imply that local English instructors should be paid well and have a strong social position as teaching faculty. The findings suggest that curriculum improvement, content adjustment, and frequent use of English in exploration approaches to instruction, with the ultimate objective of opening up new avenues of knowledge, may significantly improve English effectiveness in student performance and career development

A Practical Approach to Determine NPV, IRR, and MIRR Ranking Conflicts With Excel
Get PDFDCF methods, except the case of multiple IRRs, identify good projects when analyzed individually. However, all might conflict when ranking projects. MIRR, a method that addresses the multiple IRR problem, is a complex method for analyzing investments as it includes a reinvestment rate. Most finance textbooks do not discuss, even though some mention, the ranking conflict between NPV and MIRR. Along with the known conflict between NPV and IRR, we present an original method to determine if there is a conflict between NPV and MIRR, and the regions of the discount rate where a conflict is present or not. This method, verified by an Excel analysis, is useful to practitioners and educators alike
