Stability of Multi-Part Pricing in the U.S. Less-Than-Truckload Industry: Evidence From the Panel Stationarity Test With Structural Breaks

    No full text
This paper aims to examine the stationarity of LTL carriers’ multi-part pricing structures. We construct a spillover index of inter-firm linkages among base yield, fuel surcharge, and total yield (measured by fuel surcharge plus base yield), and use a heterogenous panel stationarity test developed by Hadri and Rao (2008) to allow for structural breaks. After accounting for cross-sectional dependence, results indicate that a structural break occurred in all three revenue dimensions but with quite different break patterns, since the inter-firm price structure gap has narrowed and converged toward the industry average. In short, competition has intensified in the LTL industry

Carbon Tax and Economic Stability: A Broader Approach to the Double Dividend of Ecological Taxation

    No full text
This article develops a Keynesian model of economic growth with involuntary unemployment in a situation of perfect competition in which we introduce an environmental tax. We show that it is possible to demonstrate a triple dividend from ecological taxation. This triple dividend is characterized by an ecological effect of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and two possible economic effects: a possible positive effect on employment, and an effect of reducing the instability of the economy. We therefore broaden the double dividend issue by highlighting an implication of ecological taxation that has been little studied in the literature. We show that highlighting a double or triple dividend from ecological taxation does not require introducing elements of imperfect competition

Pharmaceutical Supply Chains: Risks, Challenges and Strategic Response

    No full text
A pharmaceutical supply chain consists of sourcing of ingredients and technology, production, distribution and delivery mechanisms to provide medicines and supplies to patients and healthcare facilities in a cost effective and timely manner. This paper introduces the structure of pharmaceutical supply chains within the larger context of health care supply chains and provides discussion on past work and the emerging trends in pharmaceutical supply chains. The paper further explores the unique operational challenges and strategic issues faced by the pharmaceutical supply chains. The paper further proposes a strategic response framework and a mapping tool to deal with these risks and challenges

Harvesting Solutions: The Intersection of Technology, Agriculture, and Healthcare

    No full text
Advancements in agricultural technology, including CRISPR gene-editing, blockchain technology, nanotechnology, and precision agriculture, are revolutionizing farming practices and offering sustainable solutions to global challenges like food insecurity, poverty, and climate change. These innovations hold immense potential to enhance crop yields, improve resource efficiency, strengthen supply chain transparency, and contribute to economic stability by fostering inclusive growth and empowering marginalized farming communities. However, widespread adoption faces ethical, financial, and regulatory barriers, including concerns about biodiversity preservation, unintended ecological consequences, and the need for infrastructure upgrades and policy frameworks prioritizing digital inclusion. Synthetic food production, such as lab-grown meats, also poses questions about the long-term impacts of artificial growth mediums and genetic manipulation on human health, requiring rigorous scientific evaluation and public dialogue. This paper explores the transformative role of these technologies in creating resilient food systems, examining their potential to reduce disparities in food access and their broader socio-economic impacts. By advancing global food security, fostering environmental sustainability, and addressing systemic inequalities, these innovations underscore the critical interplay between technology, policy, and community engagement in shaping the future of agriculture

Leveraging Big Data Accounting Analytics to Assess Risk and Corporate Social Responsibility: Economic and Ethical-Legal Financial Performance in Banks

    No full text
This research delves into the application of Big Data Accounting Analytics to assess banks’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) performances across four dimensions: economic, ethical-legal. The study evaluates how banks perform under these CSR dimensions, considering their economic contributions, compliance with ethical and legal standards initiatives. The findings are expected to reveal key patterns in CSR performance that could influence policymaking, corporate governance, and decision-making within the banking industry. Additionally, the study will assess the ethical implications of utilizing Big Data Accounting Analytics in evaluating CSR, addressing concerns over data privacy, accuracy, and bias. This research contributes to the growing body of literature on the role of technology in advancing CSR, offering practical insights for both academics and practitioners. The results will provide a framework for banks to strengthen their CSR strategies while encouraging other sectors to adopt similar accounting data-driven approaches. Furthermore, the study aims to foster a deeper understanding of the intersection between financial performance, social responsibility, and sustainable development in the banking context

The Effectiveness of a Social Media-Based Boycott and Social Media Marketing Capabilities in Mitigating Its Impact

    No full text
This study evaluates the effectiveness of a social media-driven consumer boycott using market response and explores the role of social media marketing capabilities in mitigating its impact. Using an event study methodology, the findings reveal that a social media-driven consumer boycott can negatively affect firm value, as social media accelerates word-of-mouth dissemination about the boycott. Additionally, this study explores how word-of-mouth and firms’ social media capabilities influence the boycott's effectiveness

Self-Perceived Authentic Leadership and Self-Awareness on Faculty Burnout During COVID-19

    No full text
This study aimed to bridge the gap in the existing literature on self-perceived authentic leadership to burnout and self-awareness of burnout for faculty who taught during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study used a non-experimental Pearson Correlation Coefficient to provide quantitative answers to relationships between variables of self-awareness and authentic leadership correlations to burnout during COVID-19. The findings revealed a significant correlation between higher levels of self-perceived authentic leadership and lower levels of burnout. It is a starting point for articulating faculty and administration voices in their institutions regarding potential burnout to set an action plan for future crises

Mental Health Awareness: SBAE Teachers Perspectives

    No full text
This study examines School-Based Agricultural Education (SBAE) teachers' perspectives on mental health (MH) awareness, resources, and motivations for MH training. Focus group discussions revealed four themes: help-seeking, support services, classroom culture, and child/adolescent behavior. While teachers recognize the importance of addressing MH needs, barriers such as limited resources and time hinder their efforts. Mentorship and advisement were identified as effective strategies for MH support. The findings highlight the need for more explicit protocols and consistent professional development. The study suggests that SBAE teachers require more training and resources to support students’ and teachers’ MH needs effectively

Growing in Leadership: Examining Professional Development Reflections and Their Impact on Doctoral Students

    No full text
For this study, the researchers examined the professional development reflections written by five graduate students who took part in a two-year leadership-based program situated at a university in the United States. Data collection consisted of monthly written reflections gathered after each month in the program from September 2023 to May 2024, as well as Google Form surveys from fall 2023 and spring 2024. Open coding was utilized and findings showed four main reflection themes and the impact these monthly professional development tasks had on student learning and growth. Future research modifications will also be detailed
